Kevin Smith returned to Quick Stop Groceries with Clerks III last year, which brought back a lot of characters from the View Askewniverse. Rosario Dawson returned as Becky Scott, but a tragic twist meant that her character died in between the two Clerks movies. While speaking with THR, Rosario Dawson revealed her reaction to Becky’s fate in Clerks III.
“When Kevin first asked me about Clerks III, I thought we were going to do a Force Ghost Becky, but we didn’t have the budget for that,” Rosario Dawson explained. “But I’m just so grateful that we have Kevin still. He had a widowmaker heart attack, and we could have lost him. He had a previous Clerks III script that I never got a chance to read, so I have no idea what her fate was in that one. But in this one, he went to some really intense places,...

YouTube comedian Colleen Ballinger made a singing apology video – and people aren’t too happy about it.
In light of the grooming accusations and alleged inappropriate actions with teenagers that the comedian has been facing, Ballinger made a ten-minute apology video titled “Hi.” Throughout the video, the 36-year-old strums her ukulele as she sings her side of the allegations and although it’s meant to be an apology video, doesn’t actually apologize.
“I know you wanted me to say that I was 100% in the wrong,” Ballinger sang. “Well, I’m sorry I’m not gonna take that route of admitting to lies and rumors that you made up for clout.”
Ballinger says in the video that she was “strongly advised” against saying what she wanted to say but realized she was never told she couldn’t sing.

Is Becky G's new song about Sebastian Lletget? On June 28, the 26-year-old singer dropped her highly anticipated collaboration with Gabito Ballesteros, "La Nena," and the empowering track and sexy music video center on a woman choosing to dance through life despite having a broken heart.
In the track, Ballesteros begins by singing in Spanish, "Quiere olvidarse del cabrón que no valora / Que está con ella y a la vez con otra," which translates to, "She wants to forget about the bastard who doesn't value / Who is with her and at the same with another."
Another standout lyric is when Becky shouts: "Mejor sola que mal acompañada" which means, "Better alone than in bad company."
But perhaps the most telling lyrics are in the chorus when Becky and Ballesteros both sing, "Baila sola y si supiera / Que bella es soltera /Lo siento, bebé / Le dedicó su ex, el que no...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the series finale of “Happy Valley” now streaming on AMC+ and Acorn TV.
When “Happy Valley” wrapped up its second season in 2016, fans of the British police thriller were devastated that the intense series seemed to be over for good. Created by Sally Wainwright and starring Sarah Lancashire (HBO’s “Julia”) as a police officer in a hard-scrabble area of West Yorkshire, the series won the BAFTA for best drama in both seasons, and attracted a devoted audience around the world.
Working in a region plagued with drugs, crime and poverty, Lancashire’s character Sergeant Catherine Cawood is a tough but empathetic cop who divides her time between solving brutal crimes and taking care of her sister, a former addict, and her grandson, whom she raised after her daughter died by suicide. Seasons 1 and 2 track her mission to bring down Tommy Lee Royce...

Tom Hanks was leading the romantic comedy genre in the 90s with Meg Ryan, but his wife, Rita Wilson, revealed that he actually turned down starring in another classic.

This year’s first-round Primetime Emmy nominations ballot includes a total of 51 Best Limited Series hopefuls. This is down from 2022’s unusually high total of 61, yet still much higher than 2021’s 37, 2020’s 41, and 2019’s 35.
All 20,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 26 to cast their 2023 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs. Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. After six years of not having to limit their choices in any categories, members’ selections can now not be greater than the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which, in this case, will be five.
Unlike comedy and drama series, which simply appear on the ballot by name, the limited series submissions include plot descriptions and cast lists. Which of the shows listed below do you think will land in the final lineup on...

Firstly, I am not a ‘found footage’ genre liker as many think the audience is stupid. The V/H/S anthology series beginning in 2012 was it for me that seeing Followers (2021) was a different experience. Writer-Director Marcus Harben brings the story of a discredited social media influencer named Jonty (Harry Jarvis) who moves into a new house after starting university. When he and his housemates learn their new home is haunted, they use the events to restart Jonty’s fading fame with deadly consequences.
The housemates are all of the various types almost updates of the classic Slasher film kill fodder Jonty (Harry Jarvis), a “Justin Bieber” with a posh accent and tilted ball cap. A scheming pretty boy that the internet loves and that most guys would love to punch, in fact Pete (Daniel Cahill) is the working class, ill-tempered ‘Lager Lad’ who almost does it. Author Rick Riordan has enthralled two generations of readers with his Percy Jackson and the Olympians novels — beginning in 2005, and now with 180 million copies in print — and other books based on Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythology.
He’s also shepherding a long-awaited Percy Jackson TV series for Disney+ — now in postproduction, with a premiere date to be announced — a decade after feature films based on the first two books were poorly received by fans (and the author himself). Riordan also has a publishing imprint to spotlight authors and mythology from historically underrepresented cultures and is revisiting his most famous character in a sixth Percy Jackson book, Chalice of the Gods, set for release in September.
Was there a particular element from the books that you really wanted to make sure was part of the series?

As a fan, I cannot believe that Subspecies V: Bloodrise has finally arrived after twenty-five years. The movie was first promised only a few years after the release of Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm. I remember being a preteen on the Internet, on Full Moon’s original website, when the announcement of a new Subspecies, a prequel that would tell Radu’s origin down through the centuries, first hit. I hadn’t even seen any of the sequels yet, and I was still absolutely thrilled. Then nothing came of it. Full Moon became a smaller and smaller company, spending much of the early 2000s as Shadow Entertainment, the smallest scale era of the studio to date, before bouncing back by the end of the decade. But the budgets over time have still been much, much smaller than they had been in the ‘90s, when those first four Subspecies films were made. Given...

Visit Heptonstall graveyard in West Yorkshire and you can expect to see four things: Happy Valley fans, tourists, pens and coins. The former are there to visit the fictional gravesite of Catherine Cawood’s daughter Becky from the BBC thriller, while the tourists are in the habit of leaving the latter – pens on the grave of American poet Sylvia Plath, and coins on the grave of legendary local figure “King” David Hartley.
“There’s never usually more than 20p on David Hartley’s grave,” says Jennifer Reid, a ballad historian who plays pub landlady Barb in a new BBC drama about the famed Yorkshireman. “But when I visited during filming I knew people from London had been up, because there was about £4.50 on there!”

After Puppet Master, Subspecies is undoubtedly Full Moon’s most successful franchise. The two are similar in that they both have an intricate central mythology that is expanded upon over time, and while both have their share of quirky humor, the films are much more serious in tone than other notable Full Moon franchises like Gingerdead Man or Evil Bong. The two series, however, also have their share of stark differences. For one thing, the Puppet Master series has spawned 15 films to date: 13 official entries from the home studio, plus a crossover by the Sci-Fi Channel and a remake. They also play it fast and loose in terms of continuity. Many different screenwriters have come and gone, adding to and contradicting the established mythology—sometimes in equal doses.
Subspecies, meanwhile, is only just now seeing the release of its fifth entry after a twenty-five year gap since the last sequel,...

Mike Flanagan's ever-widening oeuvre primarily consists of horror adaptations infused with his trademark ability to imbue greater depth into characters and introduce fresh perspectives to already-promising premises. Take his films "Doctor Sleep" and "Gerald's Game" for instance — while both are somewhat faithful to the respective Stephen King originals, Flanagan uses these classic stories to flesh out the fictional worlds further, focusing on haunting atmospheres as opposed to traditional jumpscare tactics to elicit scares. This sensibility also bleeds into his small screen offerings, where Flanagan was able to make "The Haunting of Hill House" and "The Haunting of Bly Manor" his own, despite constructing the stories on the foundational tenets of the novels they were adapted from.
Continuing this tradition, Flanagan has currently set sights on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, whose short stories are often a mix of gothic horror and supernatural mystery, making it the perfect playground...

Wolfgang Hohlbein’s fantasy novel has been adapted by Amazon Prime, as the streaming platform just released the limited series The Griffin this week. Originally in German, the limited series has six episodes with a runtime of 40 minutes each. Based in the ’90s, the series showcases the adventures of three kids, Mark, Memo, and Becky, as they try to save the world from an apocalyptic creature called The Griffin. It’s up to these 16-year-olds to stop a winged monster from entering the realm of humans and capturing it, but how are they supposed to accomplish such a monumental task? Armed with magic weapons and an ancient book, of course. The show captures the ’90s vibe perfectly, with the old instruments and the music of that day and age, and the monster designs are also very impressive, although the story remains a little jagged around the edges. Here’s what...

“It was a contributor to the specialty box office, and I hope it will be again,” says Laemmle CEO Greg Laemmle of MoviePass, the subscription service that unsurprisingly went bankrupt in early 2020 after offering a movie a day for ten bucks a month.
A co-founder Stacy Spikes, who was pushed out amid strategic differences with new owners, including the $9.95 plan, acquired the assets out of bankruptcy in 2021. He relaunched MoviePass yesterday after months of beta testing. The movie-a-day-plan, which left the service subsidizing most tickets, “was never going to work,” Sikes tells Deadline. AMC had actually threatened to sue, saying the plan wasn’t sustainable and set consumers up “for ultimate disappointment down the road.” Its bankruptcy filing listed more than 12,000 subscribers it may have owned money to.

Released to theaters in the theatrical dog days of mid-2020, Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s “Becky” became a home-formats hit, its gleefully tasteless home-invasion thrills a guilty-pleasure tonic for Covid captives going a bit stir-crazy. Now Lulu Wilson is back as that title character, more or less the sole survivor of her prior screen outing. You can be sure in “The Wrath of Becky” that age hasn’t dulled her pissed-off homicidal verve, and that fate will surely provide another crop of ne’er-do-wells to tempt its exercise.
However, a different writing-directing duo is in charge this time, Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote. Their efforts generate rewards that are somewhat diminished, if still diverting. Quiver is releases this SXSW-premiered sequel to U.S. theaters, with home-formats dates as yet unannounced.

The following contains spoilers from Wednesday’s season finale of Survivor 44.
It’s been four long years since Chris Underwood won the final immunity challenge on Survivor: Edge of Extinction and did the unthinkable: He threw himself into the Final 4 fire-making challenge despite already punching his ticket to the Final 3. Having sat on the Edge for most of the game, Underwood felt like he needed a resume booster, so he faced favorite Rick Devens head-to-head, came out on top and won the entire season.

During the height of the pandemic, very few new movies were coming out, and even fewer were actually getting the chance to shine in what few theaters were open. One movie that got its day in court, however, was "Becky," which featured a teenager (Lulu Wilson) getting bloody and taking out a group of escaped criminals led by a character played by Kevin James. The movie even topped the box office, mostly thanks to drive-in theaters. Now, as the industry is once again back on its feet, Wilson is back in a bloodier, crazier sequel, "The Wrath of Becky."
The film debuted earlier this year at SXSW (read our review here), and hails from writer/directors Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote, who took over for the follow-up. Two years after Becky escaped a violent attack on her family, she is trying to rebuild her life in the care of an...

Heartbreak and happiness take center stage in Miley Cyrus's "Endless Summer Vacation." Since the album's release on March 10, tracks like "Jaded," "Muddy Feet," and "Rose Colored Lenses" have given further insight into the "Flowers" singer's past relationships. Among the bruised lyrics and playful choruses, Miley's "Thousand Miles" featuring Brandi Carlile stands out as more than a song about scorned lovers. During her "Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)" special on Disney+, Miley revealed that the country-pop ballad is actually a tribute to her younger sister, Noah Cyrus.
"I just couldn't imagine not having my little sister in my life."
"When I wrote 'Thousand Miles,' it started as a song that was very different from the one that is on the album," Miley explained in the doc. "I wrote it in...

Plot: Becky decimated a quartet of neo-Nazis when she was just 13 years old. Now a couple years have passed, and she finds herself up against a new group of enemies.
Review: The pandemic shut the world down in March of 2020. But a few months later, directors Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion gifted a nation of shut-ins with a special treat: the thriller Becky, which has been described as an “ultra violent Home Alone”. Playing in drive-ins across America before heading to VOD, Becky earned $1 million at the domestic box office during that troubled time. In the long run, it made enough money and caught enough attention to get a sequel greenlit… and now we have The Wrath of Becky. A sequel that comes from an entirely new creative team, who decided to make a tonal shift that might not sit well with some fans of the original.

Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote (The Open House) wrote and directed The Wrath of Becky, a sequel to the violent home invasion film that made headlines back in 2020.
In the film, “Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman – a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.”
Lulu Wilson stars alongside Seann William Scott, Matt Angel, Courtney Gains, Aaron Dalla Villa, Michael Sirow, Denise Burse-Fernandez, Jill Larson, and Kate Siegel.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with Wilson, Angel, and Coote after The Wrath of Becky’s world premiere at SXSW, where the trio discussed softening the wrathful teen with comic-book-style violence and humor. Here...

It has been more than seven years since we last saw Catherine Cawood, the world-weary Yorkshire cop heroine of the excellent British drama Happy Valley, and our first new glimpse of her in forever seems about right. Catherine, still played by the great Sarah Lancashire, shows up at a construction site near a dirty pond, where a backhoe has inadvertently dug up old human remains. When a pair of veteran detectives arrive, they dismiss her attempts to offer advice on the case, then are stunned when she can identify the...

Mary Joyce’s daughter witnessed the unspeakable. “The day after the children were murdered at the school, grief therapists passed out ‘Feelings Cards‘ with faces on them to help the children identify what they were feeling,” she recalled. “My nine-year-old daughter, Monroe, who saw the shooter, the barrel of the Ar-15, and her friend get hit and die, chose the ‘Proud’ card. Puzzled, I asked her why she chose that card. She told me that she chose it because she was proud that she managed to sit so still and...

The early seasons of When Calls the Heart were all about Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Jack’s love story. But even though the Mountie had her heart, that didn’t mean there weren’t other men who hoped to capture her attention.

Editor’s note: This review was originally published at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival. Quiver Distribution releases the film in theaters on Friday, May 26.
When we last left “Becky” (starring an extraordinary Lulu Wilson), she’d managed to off an entire cell of neo-Nazis, ingeniously and gruesomely plotting their deaths after she and her ill-fated dad ran afoul of the baddies during the world’s worst family vacation. Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s icky “Becky” didn’t do much more than deliver on the promise of turning a teenage girl into a righteous murderer — and, again, what luck to have cast the plucky and spunky Wilson in the title role — but it did feel as if there was more ground to cover (and more blood to spill).
Thus: Sequel! “The Wrath of Becky,” which arrives just three years after Milott and Murnion’s indie hit, certainly offers more — it’s also more of the same.

Anyone familiar with the 1990 made-for-tv movie A Killing in a Small Town, or any true-crime reenactment series on basic cable, knows Candy Montgomery’s murderous story.
What made Monday’s debut of Hulu’s five-day limited series Candy, starring Jessica Biel, different and more engaging was, well, Jessica Biel. Delivering what is arguably the strongest performance of her career, Biel pulled viewers in by creating a captivatingly layered and troubling performance filled with arrogance, regret, guilt and duplicity.
