Michael Cerny(I)
- Producer
- Director
After ten years in Journalism, Michael accidentally wandered into
commercial advertising. When advertising discovered the lives of real
people would make interesting commercials, a new career was born. He is
a storyteller who had garnered a reputation for writing and producing
evocative stories for various network broadcasts. A film agent thought
his talents would translate well as a commercial director. His second
commercial campaign, British Knights athletic shoes out of Deutsch/ New
York, won a shelf full of awards and launched his career. Many
campaigns later, Michael's hard work and talent have allowed him to
develop into a director well - known for delivering believable
performances from either actors or real people. Years of being a good
listener have brought him a good ear for dialogue. His commercials have
a cinematic look and feel and reach the viewer on an emotional level
often delivering sentiments of warmth and humanity. He has worked
extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe, winning Best
Director in Canada for his Tim Horton's campaign. His resume includes
work for brands like Ford, Blue Cross, IBM, State Farm and Lockheed
Martin. He is currently (2014) developing his first feature film, JOY,
based on the true story of ballet dancer Joy Womack. At the age of
fifteen, Joy became the first American to be offered a spot at the
world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow and subsequently the
first American to be offered a contract with the Bolshoi Ballet.
