Tate Ellington had told us that the technical difficulties suffered by the team in the last episode would continue going forward, and TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the May 9 episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime shows just that. Jet (Ainsley Seiger) passes the laptop from the Boone farm to Vargas (Ellington). “If we can find a pattern in the heroin smuggling routes, maybe we can narrow down where and when the Emery shipment’s coming in,” she says. Then an Atf agent comes in to speak with Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), but she quickly shuts him down when he starts talking about sharing information and being transparent in their joint operation. However, Vargas panicking—”This is not happening!”—puts a stop to that. Watch the full sneak peek above to find out how big of a problem this is. In “Goodnight,” Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Randall (Dean Norris...

We can’t help but wonder who we should be more worried about right now: Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) in his current undercover assignment on Law & Order: Organized Crime or the show itself? There have been talks of the NBC drama moving over to Peacock for its fifth season, with nothing official yet (while Law & Order and Svu have both already been renewed). “I’m not privy to all those talks. I know things are hopefully in the works,” Tate Ellington, who joined as tech expert Kyle Vargas this season, tells TV Insider. “I’m very hopeful for all of it, but I know that everybody’s just had a blast on this season. I think they’ve really set themselves up for some amazing seasons to come, so I hope everything happens with that, but that’s something way above my pay grade.” What he can...

"Some friendships are worth more than you could ever wish for." Peacock has revealed the official trailer for a holiday comedy called Genie, directed by filmmaker Sam Boyd. This genie-in-a-bottle story mashed up with a Christmas movie comes from a screenplay written by the talented British writer Richard Curits, adapting his own 1991 teleplay called "Bernard and the Genie". Now updated for modern times with more awkward jokes. A holiday fairytale comedy about a genie, a man, and landing one last chance to fix the mess you’ve made of your life. With his job, life & family unraveling around him, a despondent Bernard (Paapa Essiedu) dusts off a jewelry box and unintentionally releases genie Flora, who just might be able to help him. Maybe. There are actors who direct films, and there are those who establish themselves as real-deal filmmakers. In the first category we find John Slattery, a fine actor who, after a respectable career as “that guy,” reached a new level at age 45 thanks to Mad Men. The AMC series was still on the air when Slattery directed his first film, God’s Pocket, in 2014, and he returns now, nearly 10 years on, with the dark comedy Maggie Moore(s). Following his on-screen reunion with Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm in last year’s Confess, Fletch, Slattery here casts the actor in the lead role as Jordan Sanders, a lonely police chief investigating the connection between the murders of two women, each named Maggie Moore.
The first Maggie to die (played by Emily Blunt) is married to Jay (Micah Stock), the owner of a restaurant franchise who plans to become the Howard Schultz of submarine sandwiches.

Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector will cease any kind of hunt, at least on NBC, which has canceled the serial-killer-chasing drama after an abbreviated inaugural season.
NBC’s cancelation of Lincoln Rhyme, reported via Variety, was a two-birds-with-one-stone move that also saw the nixing of another freshman offering in the Bradley Whitford-headlined comedy, Perfect Harmony. While no official explanation was given for the cancelations, the move obviously occurs during a time of intrinsic uncertainty with NBC’s 2020-2021 season plans still draped in mystery as productions remain halted in the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. Thus, while the pandemic has become the go-to generic answer for delays and cancelations, it is, nevertheless, an unavoidable factor.

The Bradley Whitford comedy “Perfect Harmony” and Russell Hornsby-led drama “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector” have been canceled at NBC after one season apiece, an individual familiar with the situation tells TheWrap.
“Perfect Harmony” premiered last fall and averaged a 0.6 rating among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic and 2.9 million total viewers, according to the “most current” data from Nielsen, which includes a week’s worth of delayed viewing where available. “Lincoln Rhyme” debuted in January and averaged a 0.8 in the key demo and 5.6 million viewers.
Starring Whitford and Anna Camp, “Perfect Harmony” followed former Princeton music professor Arthur Cochran (Whitford), who unexpectedly stumbles into choir practice at a small-town church and finds a group of singers “that are out of tune in more ways than one,” per its official description. “Despite the ultimate clash of sensibilities, Arthur and his newfound cohorts may just be the perfect mix...

The freshman comedy “Perfect Harmony” and the freshman drama “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector” have both been canceled at NBC, Variety has learned from sources.
“Perfect Harmony” wrapped its one and only season in January, while “Lincoln Rhyme” ended in March.
NBC declined to comment.
The cancellations come as networks and studios are grappling with how to proceed with the fall season in the wake of the production shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. NBC had already renewed a number of its current shows prior to the shutdown, including “This Is Us,” “New Amsterdam,” all three “Chicago” shows, and “Law & Order: Svu.”
NBC and ABC have not yet released their fall schedules, while Fox, The CW, and CBS have. The CW and Fox are relying heavily on acquired programming and shows held from this season. CBS thus far is the only broadcaster to commit to airing its normal fall lineup.

"People deal with the loss of a loved one in a lot of ways..." The first official trailer has debuted for an indie revenge drama titled A Patient Man, marking the feature directorial debut of veteran editor Kevin Ward. Tom has been in a terrible car accident. After four months of recovering from his injuries, he starts the long process of putting his life back together again. And also begins planning revenge on the person responsible. It's pretty obvious from the trailer what's going on, so it's not really a spoiler or anything, but this does look like a tricky setup for a film to make you wonder what's really happening. Jonathan Mangum stars with Tate Ellington, plus a small cast including Kelsey Scott, David Jahn, Elaine Loh, and Amir Talai. This looks like a low key psychological drama that may be worth a watch. I also dig the minimalistic poster.

NBC has set its midseason premiere dates, including that of the highly anticipated adaptation of Jeffrey Deaver’s bestselling crime novel “The Bone Collector.”
The three new shows whose debut dates have been revealed are “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector,” premiering Jan. 10 in the Friday 8 p.m. time slot, “Indebted,” debuting Feb. 6 in the Thursday 9:30 p.m. slot, and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” which will hit the airwaves on Feb. 16 in the Sunday 9 p.m. slot.
The arrival of “Indebted” in early Feb. confirms that the Bradley Whitford comedy “Perfect Harmony” will not be receiving a full season order, which sources say was the intention from the beginning given the actor’s busy schedule. A decision on whether or not “Perfect Harmony” will get a second aria is expected to be made at a later date.

This week on The Affair, another brief glimpse into the future reveals the fate of Joshua Jackson’s Cole Lockhart.
In the closing moments of Episode 4, Joanie takes Alison’s bike out for a ride to the Lockhart family burial site. Among those six feet under is her father, Cole, whose whereabouts (or lack thereof) had not been fully addressed before Sunday’s installment. In the scene, Joanie crouches down in the graveyard and says, “Hi, Dad.” We then cut to a closeup of Cole’s tombstone, which implies that her father lived to be 74 years old. His cause of death is not disclosed.

The kids just aren’t the same anymore and it’s slowly making Harvey (Robert Patrick) go insane. His son (Ronnie Gene Blevins’ David) thinks it’s dementia and wants to put him in an assisted living institute, but that’s merely another example of America’s youth forgetting their responsibilities. In his day family took care of itself. When Harvey’s wife died, he did everything to give his son a good life. And this is his reward? Abandonment? He’s sacrificed blood, sweat, tears, and time and now he’s done watching the world devolve around him as though it was all for naught. If Harvey’s to be dismissed by society as a dinosaur longing for a past where “men were men and women knew it,” he’s going to go out banging that drum.

"This just gets easier and easier." Saban Films has debuted the trailer for an indie horror comedy called Tone-Deaf, the latest from eccentric indie filmmaker Richard Bates Jr.. This stars Amanda Crew and Robert Patrick, plus Hayley Marie Norman, Johnny Pemberton, Nancy Linehan Charles, AnnaLynne McCord, Tate Ellington, and Ray Wise. Stability is the name of the game at NBC as the network heads into the 2019-20 TV season.
With only one new drama and two new comedies on the fall schedule, the network is keeping things simple.
New Jimmy Smitts legal drama, Bluff City Law is taking the 10/9c post-The Voice slot.
NBC typically uses that slot to launch new dramas, but given that The Voice has been fading this season, there's a good chance it won't be the solid launch pad it once was.
This move leaves Manifest off the fall schedule to allow for uninterupted 2020 run, which is probably a good thing given the serialized nature of the series.
The Good Place is moving to 9/8c on a permanent basis for its fourth season. It will be sandwiched between new comedies, Perfect Harmony and Sunnyside.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Will & Grace are both being held for midseason.

Lincoln, based on the Bone Collector novel, will be a co-production with Universal TV.
The late pickup for Perfect Harmony, Indebted and Lincoln does not necessarily reflect their standings in the NBC pilots pecking order as all had enjoyed internal support. But the projects comes from outside studios, leading to the inevitable last-minute tussle with the network over digital rights (comedies) and ownership/distribution (dramas).
Both 20th TV and Sony TV already have popular drama series on NBC, This Is Us, which is eying a multi-season renewal, and The Blacklist, already renewed for next season.

Nicole Richie is taking on a role she probably knows a thing or two about: publicist.
The Great News vet will co-star opposite Thomas Lennon in the Fox comedy pilot Richard Lovely, our sister site Deadline reports.
The project follows Richard Lovely (Lennon), the disgruntled author of the bestselling children’s book series, Mr. Mouse. Richie will play Kelli, Richard’s “high-functioning millennial” publicist, who is his polar opposite in every way.
