“The Scream” (“Le Cri”), the first book of Nicolas Beuglet’s best-selling trilogy, is being developed into a six-part epic thriller by Stockholm-based production company Skyverse Nordic.
Launched earlier this year as part of Humanoids Group, Skyverse Nordic is led by drama executive Patrick Nebout and aims to create high-end Nordic and European drama projects.
The banner is now seeking French and international co-production partners for the one-hour series, and is seeking to attach prominent directing and writing talent to the project.

I’ve been a fan of horror anthology films for a long time, since the first time I laid eyes upon freaky treats like Creepshow and such, so I’m always intrigued when another pops up, in this case a French horror anthology that started life as a TV series, but has been reshuffled into an anthology feature here.
Dark Stories takes five horror stories and injects them into our veins with horror, suspense and thrills galore, with alien life, zombies, ghosts and ghouls to tickle the taste buds of any horror lover, it manages to change pace and tone regularly to keep things from becoming tedious or samey, which I thought really set it apart.

Heavy Metal, aka Metal Hurlant, has long been considered one of the definitive anthology comics of all time – telling some of the most fascinating sci-fi and fantasy stories ever comitted to print and inspiring writers and artists alike. Created by Jean Giraud (better known under his legendary moniker, Mœbius) and Philippe Druillet, Metal Hurlant was one of the first examples of the “mature” comic as we known it today. Debuting in 1974 and spanning 146 issues, the anthology book inspired both the animated Heavy Metal in 1981 and its sequel in 2000 – a sequel which was a star vehicle for iconic scream queen and Penthouse Pet Julie Strain (who would reprise her role in the video game Heavy Metal F.A.K.K.2). I had no idea that a TV series was being created around the popular magazine Heavy Metal. I think most of us have just been waiting around for David Fincher's movie to happen. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that film is moving forward anytime soon.
This new TV series is called Metal Hurlant Chronicles, and is only set to air in France for now, but I imagine somewhere down the line that it will be released in the U.S. as well. The series has already filmed two seasons that feature 12 half hour long episodes. Some of the actors involved with the series include Rutger Hauer, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Kelly Brook, James Marsters, Joe Flanigan, Michelle Ryan, and David Belle.

Still waiting for that big-screen adaptation/remake of “Heavy Metal”? Why bother, it’ll probably never happen. I mean, it’s not like there’s a big audience out there for adult-themed animation, or am I wrong? I can’t see that film ever getting made, is what I’m saying. Have no fear, though, because there’s another way to satiate your “Heavy Metal” thirst — in the form of an ongoing TV series consisting of 26-minute episodes adapting stories from the original “Metal Hurlant Chronicles” comics (translated into “Heavy Metal” for domestic consumption). And like the “Heavy Metal” comics, the episodes will range from Action, Heroic Fantasy, to Science Fiction. Co-written and directed by Guillaume Lubrano (I’m not sure, but I think Lubrano directed every single episode), the show’s initial run will be two seasons, with 6 episodes per season. Currently the show has been picked up in France,...

We don’t cover too much in the realms of TV here on 24fps but every once in a while something happens along that catches our eye and Guillaume Lubrano’s new live action/ sci-fi tv series Metal Hurlant Chronicles has done just that. ‘Think Game of Thrones’ meets ‘Farscape’ and you’re somewhere in the ball park of what to expect, with that added big plus that it stars a host of top action names, including; Scott Adkins, Michael Jai white, Rutger Hauer, Darren Shahlavi, Matt Mullins to list but a few. The Frech are developing a Heavy Metal(aka Metal Hurlant) TV series? And there’s already a completed pilot episode adapting classics "Red Light" and "Cold Hard Facts"! The first 12 episodes will be finished just after the end of 2011, so if we're lucky we'll get to check it out right around the time the world ends in 2012.
This new series is being produced by We Productions, who have teamed up with publishing house United Humanoids.
All the episode are to be directed by Guillaume Lubrano and they will be in both English and French to appeal to more markets.
Check out two promos after the break. I think they're pretty frickin' sweet and will at least last me until Fincher gets off his ass, stops making dramas and remakes and gets on his big budget Heavy Metal project.
News cobbled together from Opium, Bleeding Cool and Variety...

Currently David Fincher is trying to produce a reboot/follow-up to the animated 1981 version Heavy Metal (produced by Ivan Reitman), with various big directors attached such as Guillermo del Toro, James Cameron, Zack Snyder, Rob Zombie, Gore Verbinski and Mark Osborne. That 1981 Canadian animated film has found a huge cult following and is famous for having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments, including CinéGroupe and Atkinson Film-Arts.
The film is an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories adapted from the French magazine and like the film has a great deal of graphic violence, nudity, and sexuality. This however is not the same project. Stories from the original ’70s / ’80s magazine were adapted in live-action,...
