Following Friday’s twelfth episode, series judge Ts Madison talks about the conclusion to the season where Jimbo was finally crowned. In their recap of the finale, Bianca pointed out that Ts appearing on the recap series is the first time they’ve ever had a permanent Drag Race judge stop by to give their up close and unbiased opinion. Ts said that the biggest perk of the job as a judge is getting to see the queens do what they do, but she wishes she could sit at the dais for an entire season to really get to see the full growth of everyone competing. In their recap of the episode, Symone was “ready to talk smack,” even about her season 13 sisters Kandy Muse and Lala Ri. Symone said that Jimbo was a frontrunner “out the gate” from the moment she walked into the Werk Room in a nude body suit and flip flops. Bianca was still rooting for Jessica Wild and thought she could have won until Kandy eliminated her last week. On Wednesday, August 10, in partnership with the Carrera Cafe in Los Angeles, queens from season 14 of VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” unveiled a sickening FYC Mural to celebrate their show’s eight Emmy nominations and the three additional bids for sister series “Untucked,” “All Stars” and “Whatcha Packin’ with Michelle Visage.” Lady Camden, Bosco, Kerri Colby, June Jambalaya, Jasmine Kennedie and DeJa Skye were all in attendance and, following the unveiling, volunteered at the LA LGBT Center in Hollywood by filling food delivery boxes for community families.
The mural is displayed on the outer wall of the Melrose Avenue cafe that will also have special “Drag Race” coffee topper promotions and limited edition coffee cup sleeves as part of the month-long celebration. This story about “RuPaul’s Drag Race” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Fourteen seasons in and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is still sparking cultural conversations. Take the one that cropped up in January before the Season 14 premiere, when word broke that the long-running VH1 franchise would be introducing the show’s first straight male drag queen, Maddy Morphosis.
What, some fans of the show wondered, was a straight guy doing on a competition that is a celebration of the queer community?
“It’s not the first cisgender man who has auditioned for “Drag Race,” but it’s the first one who we felt like their drag was really authentic. It was really good,” executive producer Tom Campbell said. “Maddy challenged people in a really positive way and made for interesting conversations among my friend groups and the fans of the show. As “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 14 ends this Friday, the show will be filmed live from Las Vegas, home to the “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live” extravaganza. “Las Vegas is a city in drag. The longest season in RuPaul’s Drag Race herstory gave way to an appropriately eventful reunion on Friday, as the Season 14 queens — including June Jambalaya, Orion Story and several other names lost to history — reunited at the Flamingo Las Vegas to clear the air.

In recent years there has been a sudden rise in popularity of the comedy format known as a roast. There is in fact a whole series on Comedy Central that is solely made up of this structure with one-off specials that have appeared on many different channels over the past couple of years and you only need to spend a few minutes with young people for them to mention them “roasting” one another. There have been many roast challenges in Drag Race and last week we saw the first-ever one with the designated victim for the night being none other than the hilarious Ross Matthew. The challenge led to the ever-surprising announcement of a three-way lip-sync where it was guaranteed by Ru Paul that two queens would be going home. It was in fact the “villain” of the season Daya Betty who emerged victoriously and toppled the two so-called lip-sync assassins of season fourteen,...

In episode 13 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 14, RuPaul Charles put the queens to the comedy test in the annual roast challenge. The jokes Daya Betty, DeJa Skye and Jorgeous dropped about Ross Mathews weren’t good enough to keep them from a threeway lipsync where only one of them would make it out alive. Once again, Daya was able to put some lipsync assassins in their place, sending both DeJa and Jorgeous home.
This week, the final five write and perform their own lyrics to a remix of Ru’s new single “Catwalk.” This penultimate challenge in the season is their ultimate test of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent and will show Ru, Ross and the other judges who is ready to fight for the crown in the finale.

Following last week’s double elimination of lip sync assassins Jorgeous and DeJa Skye, only five queens remain in the hunt for the 14th crown of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Heading into episode 14, the field is fairly even in terms of record. Bosco leads with three challenge wins, but was also up for elimination more often than any of the others. Daya Betty was one of the first queens eliminated before coming back, but has managed to dodge a second elimination with strong lip syncs of her own. Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Willow Pill and Lady Camden have all been consistent, only falling to the bottom once (with everyone else) after the “Snatch Game.”

Just over two years ago I and my Aunty decided to plan and French-themed night so I could watch, for the first time, the hit musical Les Miserables. Despite being a massive musical theatre fan, I had never seen the West End’s longest-running production and so my Aunty made it a must that we enjoyed it together. We have dressed up in our French-est attires and bought some baguettes and Profiteroles for our mid-show snack. We were all set up ready to turn the musical on … only to realise that someone had borrowed the DVD and not given it back! We had to quickly adapts and lucky were able to find a recording of the wonderfully eccentric French, cabaret inspired musical Moulin Rouge. This was my first exposure to the totally unique movie and I thought it could not get any more outrè but Ru Paul’s Drag Race proved me wrong!

Improv and comedy challenges seem to be the weakness of these queens. Case in point: the mixed reception of the jokes during RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 13.
Landing a joke is a fine art, and some of these performers were skilled comics. For the others? The cringe was in full effect.
But did "The Ross Mathews Roast" live up to the Roasts that came before?
For an excellent Roast to be legendary in Drag Race herstory, it needs some powerhouse zingers, a few memorable moments, and more than half of the queens doing well.
"The Ross Mathews Roast" didn't meet the match of the strong Roasts of the past.
The Roasts of RuPaul and Michelle Visage were epic challenges that will never be forgotten. And the laughs from the Roast on RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race can still be heard today.

In episode 10 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 14, DeJa Skye finally notched a challenge win in an instantly iconic “Snatch Game” episode. DeJa as Lil Jon was the only impersonation the judges liked which led to Michelle Visage leading an investigation of critiques to find out why they were all so bad. To help solve the problem, RuPaul Charles surprised us all with the announcement of a Lipsync Lalaparuza Smackdown between the bottom seven.
This week, we see the continuation of RuPaul’s announcement as the queens reel from the prospect of going home in the “Lipsync Lalaparuza Smackdown.” Read below for our recap of episode 11 to see which queens rise to the occasion and which one falters on stage in this “Very Special Episode.”

On last Friday’s 10th episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race 14,” the Top 8 queens competed in the legendary Snatch Game challenge, but instead of entering “Drag Race” herstory with show’s best impersonations, they delivered series’ worst. After Michelle Visage‘s investigation during judges’ critiques, it was determined that seven of the eight were guilty in the death of Snatch Game. DeJa Skye as Lil Jon was the only performance they liked, leaving the rest as a bottom seven set to compete in this week’s Lipsync Lalaparuza Smackdown. Since the judges couldn’t decide which queen killed Snatch Game, we asked You to decide. The plethora of drag queens on this season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race are all clearly incredibly talented performers and each week the eliminations are clearly solely based on how well they can perform in each challenge, which makes for a very exciting watch! Each queen has been able to showcase their talents, with each of them having at least one show-stopping look on the runway so far but last week’s episode gave us, the viewers, a chance to see a much more honest view into the people behind the drag personas. The drag con panel challenge had the queens (in full drag) talking about their own personal relationships and experiences with the male gender – including stories of dating, father figures, friendships and the concept of toxic masculinity which is not only an array of very important themes but also came at a point in the season where...

That Snatch Game was...a disaster. What happened on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 10 has never happened in Drag Race Herstory.
Never in the mainline series. Not during RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars or the Holi-Slay special. And not during any of the international Drag Race seasons.
In the wise words of Tatianna, the queens made some "Choices!"
Much of "Snatch Game" could best be described as bad choices.
The outfits during the Mini Challenge, the performances during Snatch Game, and even the looks on the runway fell flat. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 had been a strong season up until this moment.
The queens are all highly skilled performers, so it's shocking to see a car crash of this magnitude hit across the board.
Willow Pill joked during RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 9 that there would eventually be a challenge where the queens would all bomb in. Well, it seems like we found that challenge.

“Top Chef: Houston” started last week with a challenge focused around primal cuts of beef. So it’s fitting that episode two, “Friday Night Bites,” took the cheftestants in completely the opposite direction: carbs! Read on to find out what the contestants did with my favorite food group.
See‘Top Chef’ season 19 premiere recap: ‘Primal Instincts’ started Houston competition with a beefy team challenge
The 14 chefs remaining in the competition were Damarr Brown, Jo Chan, Monica Feybesse, Evelyn Garcia, Robert Hernandez, Jae Jung, Jackson Kalb, Sam Kang, Luke Kolpin, Buddha Lo, Stephanie Miller, Ashleigh Shanti, Nick Wallace, and Sarah Welch.
But before the chefs went carb crazy, they had to tangle with my second favorite food group …
Quickfire Challenge
When the cheftestants entered the kitchen, they were greeted by Padma Lakshmi and guest judge Irma Galvan, a James Beard Award winning chef. They were surrounded by piles of cheese and a fondue machine.

On last Friday’s ninth episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race 14,” the eight remaining queens got to experience what it’s like hosting a panel at RuPaul’s DragCon. RuPaul Charles challenged them to discuss “Menzeses” in two groups of four, with DeJa Skye and Bosco serving as moderators of the conversations. The judges loved both moderators and ultimately chose Bosco as the challenge winner, but in a recent poll You decided that Willow Pill was the strongest panelist from both groups. Scroll down for the complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Willow was a panelist in the group moderated by DeJa that also included Lady Camden and Angeria Paris VanMichaels. In their conversation, all four queens spoke eloquently on the topic of fatherhood, offering touching stories of their own relationships with their dads that provided the “takeaway” that Ru had advised was an important part of a DragCon panel.

Whatever the creative team working on Ru Paul’s Drag Race have been doing differently these two past weeks they need to keep it up as the last two episodes have been fantastic! The Daytona Wind acting challenge was hilarious (before the childish farting audio added in post) and last week’s sixties girl-group inspired musical challenge were both extremely entertaining. The latter of which really stepped on production value with graphics, lights and matching costumes but the icing on the cake was that the performance was filmed in one continuous set which really fitted the sixties genre they were aiming for. After her gospel-infused verse clashed with the sixties style everyone else went for, Keri Colbi was sent home which came as a surprise to many as they would assume she would go all the way to the end of the season. Keri’s drag haus is supposedly well...

The DragCon panel has become a challenge that needs to return in the future.
On RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 9, the queens thrived in having deep discussions that went beyond gimmicks. Sometimes these serious notes balance out the campy and wacky rounds. (And it's much better formatted than the tedious spoken word task on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 Episode 11.)
Simple. Grounded. Heartwarming. A strong week for the competition overall.
