It was all about mothers at the top of this week’s pre-Mother’s Day Saturday Night Live.
The variety show dispensed with its typical topical cold open for one that featured SNL castmembers sharing moments with their moms.
Kenan Thompson kicked off the show, appearing on the Studio 8H stage with his mom because, he said, “it’s “Mother’s Day in about 29 minutes,” which, she declared, meant there was still “plenty of time to buy a gift.”
“With so many upsetting stories in the world right now, we thought we’d take a break from a regular cold open and hear some heartwarming stories from our moms instead.”

On Sunday, Politico published a story suggesting that foundations tied to several top Democratic donors have been funding the pro-Palestine protest groups dogging President Joe Biden wherever he goes. “Pro-Palestianian protesters are backed by a surprising source: Biden’s biggest donors,” read the headline.
The story quickly went viral — Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), for instance, posted on X that the piece confirmed “anti-Israel astroturfing.” Fox News cited the report to write that “President Biden’s biggest Democratic donors are also funding some anti-Israel protests that have taken over college campuses.

The Republican Party doesn’t seem to have much of a problem with Nazis these days. NBC News recently reported on how they “openly mingled” at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference. The report was alarming, but not surprising. The event’s keynote speaker and the party’s standard-bearer, Donald Trump, has a history of hobnobbing with white supremacists and antisemites — including Nick Fuentes, the virulently bigoted Holocaust denier the former president invited to dinner at Mar-a-Lago just over a year ago.

The independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. raised more than $7 million from October to December 2023.
This information was disclosed in a Federation Election Commission (Fec) filing.
According to this filing, the funds added to the approximately $6.1 million the campaign had in the bank when entering the year’s fourth quarter.
Additionally, the campaign spent almost $7.8 million during that time, which left Kennedy with $5.4 million in cash.
He had $6.1 million in cash at the end of September 2023.
Kennedy’s campaign also received backlash for its donor base, with many people who supported Republicans in previous elections donating to the independent candidate.
Critics argue that these donors are hoping to use his candidacy to weaken Joe Biden in the general election.
About $5 million that Kennedy had taken in were itemized donations of more than $200 and, of those, about $224,000 were from donors to Donald Trump‘s 2020 presidential campaign. Only $105,000 had come from donors to Biden’s 2020 campaign.

Created by Ryan Murphy and Jaffe Cohen, Feud season 2 is a fictional retelling of a real-life American novelist and screenwriter, Truman Capote, and his group of socialite friends, or maybe we’d better call them frenemies. These two episodes depicted the beginning of Truman’s friendship with his group of socialites, whom he used to call the swans. Even though Truman Capote was well appreciated by his swans, a feud among them marked the beginning of the end of their relationship. Let’s see what led Truman to cut his ties with his swans.
Spoilers Ahead
How Did Paley Meet Truman?
The first episode of Feud season 2 opened in 1984, with Truman Capote wandering around a graveyard when he laid his eyes on a flock of swans swimming on a nearby lake. The scene shifted back to 1968, when Truman paid a visit to his closest friend, Babe Paley, a socialite married...

Former professional boxer Mike Tyson has entered the cannabis industry in New York, joining the lineup of celebrities selling weed in his home state.
Celebrities have launched product lines and secured endorsement deals over the last decade as the use of cannabis was becoming legalized in many states. New York joined the states allowing legal recreational weed last year.
The former champ, 57, recently released the Tyson 2.0 line, including smokable flower varieties named Tiger Mintz and Knockout Og. He also sold gummies shaped like Evander Holyfield‘s ear, a reference to when he bit Holyfield’s ear during a 1997 bout, one of the six fights he lost.
Tyson is one of the biggest names in the industry so far.
During a recent public appearance in Manhattan, hundreds of fans were spotted trying to buy the cannabis from him. The former boxer made over $40,000 in sales within a few hours at two participating dispensaries.

Henry Kissinger, who as national security advisor and secretary of state for Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford became one of the most influential, famous and controversial diplomats of the 20th century, died Wednesday in his home in Connecticut. He was 100.
A consultant to almost every President of the United States since leaving the State Department in 1977, Kissinger was instrumental in the historic opening to China in 1972. He was also a hawk during the Vietnam War, a master strategist in geopolitics and Beltway power, and an architect of Middle East shuttle diplomacy. With a realpolitik legacy that is as complicated as any American statesman, the pragmatic and cynical German-born Kissinger also was a much lauded and criticized recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for his role in ending the war in Southeast Asia.

Following the news that dancing and singing will be allowed at screenings of the Taylor Swift movie, Jimmy Fallon has a pitch for the next iteration of Swift’s Eras Tour.
“The movie’s so popular that they’re going to have to start showing it in stadiums, and it’s going to be called ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Movie: The Tour,'” the “Tonight Show” host said during his opening monologue Wednesday night.
He also noted that Swift is so powerful that “she can get people to a mall.”
“At this point the United States is essentially a Taylor Swift-based economy,” Fallon joked.
Fallon didn’t stop there with the Swift jokes. He concluded his opening monologue with an iteration of Swap Quiz. “The Tonight Show” team asked father and daughter duos around 30 Rockefeller questions about Taylor Swift and her latest love interest, Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce.

Danny Sullivan was the unluckiest child, young man, and person ever. But how unlucky can one person be?
The trial to determine Danny's innocence or guilt in the Rockefeller shooting began on The Crowded Room Season 1 Episode 9, progressing to witness and professional statements, leaving the ruling for another time.
I'm always fascinated by trials, so I have watched numerous legal dramas and enjoyed every second of courtroom theater.
I never thought a day would come when I failed to enjoy a TV episode set almost exclusively inside a courtroom, but that day arrived with this trial.
The episode opened with Danny preparing for trial, and it just reinforced everything about him that makes one's heart bleed for him.
Tying a tie is a skill any young man his age should have mastered. They could learn from a dad, brother, peer, or friend. Yet Danny Sullivan never had any of those,...

It’s been years since Paul McCartney‘s fame skyrocketed with the rest of The Beatles. However, that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable with it all these years later. His uncomfortableness with fame and wealth is reflected in his song “Mrs. Vanderbilt.”
Paul McCartney, writer of ‘Mrs. Vanderbilt’ | Michael Putland/Getty Images Many people asked The Beatles if they were worried about joining the Establishment
In his book, The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul wrote that in The Beatles’ early days, people used to ask them whether they were worried that they might have joined the Establishment. The Beatles were still new to fame and thought the Establishment was a club in London, which it was.
Paul wrote that The Beatles didn’t know what it all meant, except that they were now part of the status quo. Still, they insisted they weren’t part of anything posh. They knew a few posh people,...

Sharon Rockefeller, president and CEO of Weta, wrote in a memo to staffers, “We are very grateful to Yamiche for her commitment to the highest standards of journalism during her years in public media.

When Hawkeye debuted in the fall of 2021, all the colorful lights and Christmas trees crowding the sets were regarded as nothing more than that: decorations. The Jeremy Renner- and Hailee Steinfeld-starrer was a Marvel show that just so happened to be set during the holidays. But, in truth, Hawkeye is a Christmas story that just so happens to be a Marvel show – and it should absolutely be added into your annual Yuletide rotation.
Let’s start with the most obvious arrow in the quiver: Christmas is its own character in Hawkeye, arguably the fourth lead after Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, and Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox). Almost every scene carries some reminder of the season, be it a lone string of lights in Maya’s apartment or B-roll of a snowy December in New York City. Even the abandoned K·B Toys holds special significance for anyone who grew up in the 1980s,...
