Stephen King's books that have not yet been adapted fall into three groups: "no one tried to adapt it," "someone tried but couldn't adapt it," and "someone is trying to adapt it right now."
The Long Walk is just one of those books, and it belongs to both the second and third categories. Stephen King himself considers it to be one of his best novels. The author created it as a student, but could not publish it for a long time.
What is The Long Walk About?
The characters in The Long Walk live in an alternative future America. Once upon a time there was a global catastrophe, but the author deliberately hides the details from us. It is now a police state ruled by a dictator known as the Major.
On his initiative, a survival game is held every year – 100 young men, accompanied by military personnel, set out on a certain route.

Surreal. That’s how Misan Harriman describes his first time at the Academy Awards earlier this year. Six years before, his wife had bought him a Fujifilm X100 for his 40th birthday and encouraged him to start taking pictures with it. Then there he was, surrounded by the global industry’s most overachieving, himself an Oscar-nominated director.
He had always loved film, having been raised on ’80s and ’90s cinema like The Lost Boys, Big Trouble in Little China and Stand By Me. He describes Home Alone, of all things, as “more than entertainment for troubled kids like me,” and will share his connection to the classic movie’s study of “trauma response” and the way it, and films like it, saved him. Born in Nigeria in 1977, Harriman was the only Black kid at his British boarding school. “With my kind of neurodiversity, I’m not supposed to be good at anything,...

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was an astounding success last year in the box office and this year during the awards season. The story was gripping, with some absolutely brilliant performances, and an equally fitting director who left no stone unturned to make a cinematic masterpiece.
Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer
World War movies are sometimes a hit and miss, but this one completely knocked it out of the park. Oppenheimer was praised for its story, as well as execution, and has been a fan favorite for a while. And it looks like we will have another World War II drama in our hands soon.
Nuremberg Is a Oppenheimer and Man of Steel Crossover
Director James Vanderbilt is bringing the story of the Nuremberg trials to life, with a brilliant cast attached to the project. The movie is based on yet another book, this one being The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, Nuremberg by Jack El-Hai.

While in the middle of filming his latest mystery film, Fountain of Youth, Guy Ritchie is revealing another film project, Wife and Dog. Ritchie’s 18th feature hails from Black Bear, who launches Wife and Dog at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival event. Plot details about Wife and Dog remain a mystery, though Variety hears Ritchie is returning to the shady world of British Aristocracy for this anticipated feature. Cameras roll for Wife and Dog in October, with top-tier Hollywood actors negotiating for starring roles.
Like many of Ritchie’s film projects, he’s writing the screenplay and producing alongside his production partner, Ivan Atkinson, and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler of Black Bear executive produce.
As Cannes revs up for another competitive year, Ritchie is rolling cameras for Fountain of Youth, a mystery written by James Vanderbilt, starring Eiza González, Natalie Portman, John Krasinski,...

In the fuselage of a C-47 transport plane, a group of high-ranking Nazis in uniforms stripped of their insignia are facing their captors. Among them, Hermann Göring strikes up a conversation with a U.S. military psychiatrist, Lt. Colonel Douglas Kelley. “Howie here tells me you do magic,” Göring says to Kelley. Kelley nods and shows him a quick coin trick. “Very good,” Göring responds. “But I am going to show you a real magic trick someday. I am going to escape the hangman’s noose.”
It is then that Robert Ley, the Nazi head of the German Labour Front, spots something out of the window. “Nürnberg,” he announces. As the rest of the group takes in the sight of the bombed city, their destination is clear. The Palace of Justice is one of the few buildings that remain standing. Their trial will soon begin.

To say it’s been an incredible year for Leo Woodall is something of an understatement. The 27-year-old actor has already filmed the new Apple TV+ series “Prime Target,” is currently filming James Vanderbilt’s feature drama “Nuremberg” alongside Rami Malek and Russell Crowe, among others, and will follow that up with a pivotal role in the fourth “Bridget Jones” movie.

"We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man." These were the words uttered by former Sony Pictures Entertainment chief Michael Lynton after an investor meeting in November 2013. Those words would become the undoing of the franchise solely under Sony's stewardship, with 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" serving as the nail in the coffin. With the benefit of hindsight, we might be looking at the most outright financially successful franchise-killer in cinema history.
The Andrew Garfield-led "Spider-Man" films remain a tragic mixed bag. There are those who adore Garfield as Marvel's famed webslinger. There are many others who can't get past the messy direction the films themselves wandered down -- particularly this sequel we're talking about today.

Post-wwii war crimes thriller Nuremberg boasts a strong leading trio and is set to seek backing at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
While we don’t have too much on this story, there’s a report that a new project titled Nuremberg is to be revealed at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be launching sales at Cannes to try and secure backing to give the film a green light and considering some of the acting talent signed up, we can’t imagine the producers walking away from the French film festival empty-handed.
But first, the set-up.
According to the synopsis (via Variety), ‘Nuremberg chronicles the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film will centre on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes, and finds himself...

A lot of Scream franchise fans were hoping Melissa Barrera would reprise the role of Samantha Carpenter from Scream (2022) and Scream VI in a third Scream movie, and it has been said that the directors of those films, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, wanted to return for a Scream 7 that would wrap up the Sam Carpenter story as a trilogy. But that’s not how it worked out. The directors went off to make Abigail, and Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media weren’t willing to wait for them to circle back to Scream 7. So Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett were, as they put it, “exited” from the project and it started moving forward without them… only to hit a series of speed bumps. Including the day when Barrera was fired after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. So there...

Renée Zellweger (Judy) has closed a deal to reprise the role that brought her her first Oscar nomination in Universal Pictures and Working Title’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Deadline has learned.
Others set to return in the film, from director Michael Morris (To Leslie), include Hugh Grant (Wonka) and Emma Thompson. Newcomers to the cast will include Chiwetel Ejiofor (Rob Peace) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus).
Based on the beloved novels from Helen Fielding, and a previous column she wrote as the title character for The Independent, the rom-com franchise Bridget Jones centers on Zellweger’s endearing yet perpetually single character of the same name, examining her relationships with the dashing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and the roguish Daniel Cleaver (Grant), among others. Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after. With the release date swiftly approaching, a promo video in which cast member Kathryn Newton (Freaky) gives a tour of the set has arrived online, while co-star Dan Stevens – who can be seen in this weekend’s release Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – has given an interview where he described Abigail as extreme and hilarious. The set tour promo video can be seen in the embed above.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Steven said, “Those Radio Silence boys are so much fun. I’m slowly ticking off all of the guys from the V/H/S anthology.

Activity is heating up on the Scream front, as Courteney Cox is now in talks to return as reporter Gale Weathers, reprising the role she’s held since the first installment, sources confirmed to Deadline.
Franchise rights holder and producer Spyglass declined comment. The news comes following word that original cast member Neve Campbell will be back as final girl Sidney Prescott in the new, currently untitled film, having previously exited Scream VI amid a pay dispute.
Scream creator and scribe Kevin Williamson is on board to direct, following Christopher Landon’s exit late last year, in his first outing behind the camera for the franchise. Guy Busick, who co-wrote 2022’s Scream reboot and Scream VI, is back to pen the script — assuming the reins from his co-writer James Vanderbilt, who is at work directing the starry historical drama Nuremberg. Ghostface will return in Scream 7 for Paramount and Spyglass, and Variety reports this week that franchise mainstay Courteney Cox is in talks to return as Gale Weathers.
Cox’s Gale Weathers has been part of the franchise since the very beginning, with Cox starring in every single installment in the franchise to date. While Dewey Riley was killed off in the fifth installment, Gale just keeps on surviving, most recently beating the odds in Scream VI. How many more massacres can Gale manage to survive? Is her number finally coming up?
It was recently announced that Neve Campbell will also return in Scream 7, with Campbell herself revealing that she’ll be back as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming Spyglass sequel.
Additionally, original Scream scribe Kevin Williamson will Direct the film.
Williamson recently wrote on Instagram, “It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, ‘Scream,’ was directed by the legendary Wes Craven.

Wes Craven, director of the first four films in the Scream franchise, passed away in 2015. So when Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media teamed up to revive the franchise with the new sequel that was released in 2022, the directing duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett took the helm. They then returned to direct Scream VI the following year, with both of their contributions to the franchise centering on sisters Samantha and Tara Carpenter, played by Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. During a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett confirmed that they had been planning to return to direct Scream 7 and complete a Carpenter sisters trilogy… but they mistakenly thought they could fit the production of their Universal Monsters movie Abigail (formerly known as Dracula’s Daughter) in between the making of Scream VI and Scream 7. Turns out, Spyglass wanted to get moving on Scream 7 sooner than their schedules allowed,...

In a brand new behind-the-scenes featurette, actor Kathryn Newton gives a brief tour of the set for the Radio Silence-directed Abigail. That includes a swimming pool filled not with water, but decomposing corpses.
Releasing April 19, Abigail has been rated “R” for “Strong bloody violence and gore throughout, pervasive language and brief drug use.” And it’s not hard to see why, either.
Watch the featurette below to get a peek at some of the gore, courtesy of a deep indoor swimming pool.
In the film, “After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.”

Inspector Dave Toschi needs a night off. After years of chasing the so-called Zodiac Killer, Toschi thought he had found his man, only for his captain to shoot him down, citing insufficient evidence to make an arrest. At the movie theater later on, the picture Toschi watches with his wife doesn’t make him feel any better. It’s Dirty Harry, the 1971 movie in which Clint Eastwood‘s Inspector Harry Callahan does battle with a killer called Scorpio.
Frustrated by what he’s seeing, Toschi heads to the lobby for a smoke. As viewers shuffle out after him, one remarks, “Dave, that Harry Callahan did a hell of a job with your case.”
“Yeah, no need for due process, right?” Toschi responds sarcastically to indicate his frustration.
Or, at least that’s how it went in the movies. Specifically, the film Zodiac, written by James Vanderbilt and directed by David Fincher,...

After many controversies surrounding the production of the upcoming Scream movie, tentatively titled Scream 7, the fans have finally gotten a break as legendary franchise veteran Neve Campbell officially confirmed her return as Neve Campbell. On top of that, the franchise’s original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two and the fourth Scream movies, was confirmed as the director following Christopher Landon’s departure.
This piece of news comes after a series of controversies surrounding the production of the next installment in one of the most popular horror franchises in history. After several delays, Scream 7 is moving forward with the return of star Neve Campbell and original writer Kevin Williamson at the helm.
It’s no secret that the next Scream film has been fraught with difficulties, from the firing of Melissa Bererra to Jenna Ortega leaving, followed by director Christopher Landon.
One of the biggest points of contention was the absence of Neve Campbell, who elected not to return for the sixth film due to a pay dispute.
However, whatever problems there were appear to have been resolved, as Campbell posted a lengthy statement on her Instagram account confirming that she is officially back for Scream 7.
Not only that, but Deadline reports that Kevin Williamson – who created the franchise and wrote the screenplays for Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 4 – will direct. He has directed just one feature previously, the dark comedy Teaching Mrs Tingle, which was released...

Updated with more details: Neve Campbell said Tuesday that she will return as Sidney Prescott for the next film in the Scream franchise.
In an Instagram post today, Campbell said she’s been asked back and is happy to return to the pic, which for now is known only as Untitled Scream 7 and will be directed by original Scream writer Kevin Williamson from a script penned by Guy Busick.
Campbell, an original Scream star, did not appear in last year’s sixth movie of the franchise because of a pay dispute. Her most recent appearance in the series was 2022’s Scream, which served as a franchise reboot. She had signaled as recently as January that she wouldn’t rule out returning to the role for the right price.

Within the reality of the Scream films, the murders committed by various maniacs wearing Ghostface costumes have inspired a franchise of movies called Stab – and in Scream (2022), we saw a glimpse of a moment in Stab 8 that showed a different sort of Ghostface. This one worn a metallic mask, had short sleeves on their costume, and was blasting away at someone with a flamethrower. Now the collectible makers at Neca have taken to social media to reveal that their latest Ghostface action figure is inspired by that moment in Scream (2022) / Stab 8! This thing is called the Ultimate Ghostface Inferno action figure, and you can see images of it at the bottom of this article.
Here’s the product description: Ghostface is back and coming in hot! This all-new Ultimate 7-inch scale action figure features updated sculpt and articulation beneath a new, opening soft-goods cloak with three interchangeable hood options. In...

The Core Four is no more. Although Scream (2022) and Scream VI set up the characters of Samantha Carpenter, Tara Carpenter, Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Chad Meeks-Martin as the new leads of the Scream franchise, that group is not going to end up being in Scream 7, whenever that film goes into production. Jenna Ortega allegedly wanted a substantial pay raise to reprise the role of Tara… and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. So Ortega was out, but Melissa Barrera was on board to come back as Tara’s sister Samantha. Until she was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Mindy may or not be in the movie; we can’t be sure yet, because Jasmin Savoy Brown...

We still have no idea what’s going on with Scream 7, if anything at all, but the near future of the film franchise is definitely hanging in the balance at this moment in time.
Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega are no longer starring and Christopher Landon is no longer directing, while Neve Campbell is waiting on the “right circumstances” to return.
It’s safe to say the “core four” – Barrera, Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown & Mason Gooding – is no more, but will the “core two” (Savoy Brown & Gooding) return in Scream 7?
Speaking with Variety this week, Mason Gooding – who plays Chad Meeks-Martin, the nephew of Jamie Kennedy’s Randy Meeks – shared his thoughts on the franchise’s future.
“If it could make money, I guarantee you, they’ll make it,” Gooding says. “It’s one of those things where you wait to hear from the people that make the big decisions.

As “Scream 7” continues to be reworked after a series of setbacks that saw cast members and the director leaving the project, star Mason Gooding is confident the movie will still get made.
“If it could make money, I guarantee you, they’ll make it,” the actor told Variety at Vanity Fair and Instagram’s pre-Oscars Vanities party on Wednesday night at Bar Marmont in West Hollywood.
But Gooding, who played Chad Meeks-Martin in the last two “Scream” movies, insists he’s not in the loop on where things stand today. “It’s one of those things where you wait to hear from the people that make the big decisions,” he said.
“Scream 7” began to unravel in November when star Melissa Barrera was fired by Spyglass, the film’s producer, because they deemed her social media messages about the Israel-Hamas war as anti-semitic. Then came news that co-star...
