For those that have not seen the show (Why not? It’s fantastic!), The Blacklist – which stars James Spader and Megan Boone – follows FBI profiler Elizabeth Keen (Boone) whose life is overturned when Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington (Spader), one of the FBI’s top ten most wanted criminals, turns himself in and demands to speak solely to her… Filled with glorious plot twists, character turns and an ever-increasing conspiracy, the show is (at least in our house) must-watch TV.
The Blacklist: Elizabeth Keen’s Dossier is a lavish visual celebration of the hugely popular and critically acclaimed show. If you’ve ever picked up one of those “vault”style books, filled with not only interesting facts and info but also cool pull-outs, replica props etc., then you’ll know what to expect from The Blacklist: Elizabeth Keen’s Dossier. Though this book goes a step further and emulates an...

For those unfamiliar, Sleepy Hollow is a Fox TV series; it’s an adaptation of the Washington Irving short story, ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’, which has been adapted many times before, most notably the 1999 Tim Burton film Sleepy Hollow. Titan Books has released Sleepy Hollow: Creating Heroes, Demons & Monsters by Tara Bennett and Paul Terry, looking at the series and I am reviewing the book.
If you’ve picked up a TV show inside book before then you know what to expect. We get the information on all the main characters and locations, and here the monsters from the first two seasons. It’s flows really well, taking us through the whole development. We can read about the initial ideas from co-creators Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman, of a show involving witches and how this series differentiates from previous adaptations.
You get a lot of details photographs,...

With Godzilla and even Gamera getting all the giant monster love lately, we'd be remiss if we didn't wish a hearty Happy Birthday to one of the big screen's most incredible creatures, Gertie the Wonderful Trained Dinosaurus!
From Wikipedia: Gertie the Dinosaur is a 1914 animated short film by American cartoonist and animator Winsor McCay. It is the earliest animated film to feature a dinosaur.
McCay first used the film before live audiences as an interactive part of his vaudeville act; the frisky, childlike Gertie did tricks at the command of her master. McCay's employer, William Randolph Hearst, later curtailed McCay's vaudeville activities so McCay added a live-action introductory sequence to the film for its theatrical release. McCay abandoned a sequel, Gertie on Tour (c. 1921), after producing about a minute of footage.
Although Gertie is popularly thought to be the earliest animated film, McCay had earlier made Little Nemo (1911) and How a Mosquito Operates...

While you savored your colorful eggs, Marshmallow Peeps, and chocolate bunnies this past holiday weekend, many ventured out to their local theaters to cheer on the Joes in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Paramount Pictures’ Easter basket was overflowing as the action-figure fueled movie took in over $132 million across the globe. Here in the U.S. the Jon M. Chu sequel totaled in the $51 million range.

'Fringe' secrets revealed: 'September's Notebook' authors discuss making the ultimate companion book
Fringe wrapped its five-year foray into the far-out realms of science and dangerous dimensions of the human heart back in January. (Sniffle.) But today, exec producer J.H. Wyman, who oversaw the Bad Robot drama’s swan song season, tweeted out a touching post-script for fans: A drawing of a white tulip.
More than just an allusion to several Fringe episodes (including our pick for best ever), the image — which is meant to be printed out — has additional significance to anyone who has purchased September’s Notebook, a uniquely designed, detail-rich tome that summarizes the saga and digs deep into the...

Sci-fi show Fringe has just aired its final episode but you can relive the drama and mystery with a new book coming out later this month.
Warner Bros Consumer Products, Warner Bros Television Group and Fox Broadcasting Company have brought September's Notebook into our world. It will be released in hardcover by Titan Books on January 29.
In the penultimate Fringe episode The Boy Must Live, the Observer called September (guest star Michael Cerveris) revealed to Walter Bishop (John Noble) that he had been keeping a notebook of all his observations - and it's now being published as a keepsake for fans.
Fringe executive producer/showrunner J.H. Wyman said: "We couldn't have picked a better framework for this book than the Observers. Where we went this season is ultimately so Observer-heavy and it reveals some things that are really mind-blowing.
"We wanted to include the notebook in this upcoming episode, as...

Adapted and directed by David Radford and Christina Patterson. Costumes by Martha Burd. Cast: Paul Terry, Michael Shewchuk, Matthew Coulson, David Radford, Christina Patterson, Trevor Hinton, and Jared Gowen. To visit a lonely reminder of a bygone age, Craigdarroch Castle, in Victoria, BC is eerily inspiring. Its far-reaching gothic-style towers want to touch the moon, and its inspirational Baronial architecture makes this venue the ideal location for many of Giggling Iguana’s past and present theatrical productions. This year, they are working together with Launch Pad to bring Dracula: The Blood is the Life back to the Victorian Age! This site-specific theatrical show proves that even a complex novel like Bram Stoker’s Dracula can be distilled down to its very essence. To see it performed without missing the most important themes from this Irish novelist’s work in under an hour is very impressive. Director and writers David Radford and Christina Patterson.

On the final day of San Diego Comic-Con 2012, Warner Bros. presented the final "Fringe" panel in the enormous Hall H -- and of course, Zap2it was on the scene to get all the scoop you need from Anna Torv, Josh Jackson, Jasika Nicole, John Noble, and executive producer J.H. Wyman.
Here's what you need to know from the panel:
They won't start filming Season 5 until next week, but the exclusive reel played for fans did show new footage. Wyman had asked the actors to return to shoot video for the trailer, which was also used to convince Fox to give them the final 13 episodes. Wyman confirms that this season will take place entirely in the future, beginning the day after the "Letters in Transit" episode. Torv noted that she was relieved to have said goodbye to "Bolivia," because this year, she can focus only on Olivia, who she feels is a more rewarding character.

Toddler Holden Paul Terry, who turns 2 this month, sat this one out.
“There’s kind of an image of, ‘Yay – the happy working mom!’ and everything works out so well, but it’s really difficult to juggle,” Sorvino, 43, has said. ”There’s no such thing as the supermom who does it all and it’s all perfect.

Hokey Smoke! Alexander Anderson Jr., the cartoon mastermind behind Rocky & Bullwinkle, has died. He passed away Friday at a nursing home in Carmel, Calif., at the age of 90 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. He got his start in the 1940s as an apprentice for his uncle, Paul Terry, the legendary cartoonist whose Terrytoons produced Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle. Anderson teamed up with his old fraternity brother Jay Ward to form Television Arts Productions and hatched a slew of cartoon characters right out of their garage, including Crusader Rabbit, Rags the Tiger and that righteous Mountie Dudley Do Right. Their most famous and enduring creation was a clever flying...

Tim Burton and Henry Selick.s stop motion follow-up to Nightmare before Christmas may not live up to the bar set by that previous picture, but it has a charm all its own. James (Paul Terry) has been orphaned when his parents are .eaten. by a rhino-shaped storm. He.s sent to live with his abusive aunts Spiker (Joanna Lumley) and Sponge (Miriam Margolyes) who treat him as their slave. Movie technology needed to catch up to the imagination of author Roald Dahl. By the time that occurred in the 1980s Dahl was in his final years and barely got to enjoy proper adaptations of his works. His imaginative fiction was incredibly vivid and picturesque while also having a dark undercurrent, an edge that set them apart from other children’s literature.
His widow, Liccy, finally allowed his 1961 novel, James and the Giant Peach, to be adapted by the team of producers Denise Di Novi and Tom Burton and director Henry Selick. They had previously proven their mettle as a team with the delightful A Nightmare Before Christmas and were seeking something else to do with their stop-motion wizardry. The results in 1996 were a stripped down adaptation, but one that Liccy and children around the world embraced.
Walt Disney Home Entertainment is finally releasing the movie on Blu-ray this Tuesday.

We were holding out for hope for a last minute Lost panel in promotion of the upcoming Complete Series Collection at this year's Sdcc. But while we didn't get Damon and Carlton, we did an get an appearance from the kid who played young Ben (Sterling Beaumon), an out-of-work polar bear and a preview of Dk's upcoming Lost Encylopedia, a must-have for any fan with a hankering to read-up on the recipe for Fish Biscuits and the history Geronimo Jackson.
Authors Tara Bennett and Paul Terry were on hand to walk us through a few preview entries from the 400-page tomb which Dharma drops on August 24th. The encylopedia is an "in world" (meaning entries focus on the characters, not the actors or the production aspects of the series) reference guide to the entire series, up through the bonus epilogue from the The Complete Collection boxset which releases the same day.

You'd think after a crazy Friday packed with tons of TV goodness, the folks behind the scheduling for San Diego Comic-Con would give us a bit of a breather, but noooo. Saturday's Sdcc programming looks to be just as exciting (and exhausting), as television fans will be treated to yet another solid day of sneak peeks and Q&As of several geek-approved shows.
Once again, we're here to offer up the highlights of what's worth dragging yourself away from the show floor. You can thank us later.
Nickelodeon Presents: The SpongeBob SquarePants Secret Formula Revealed!: 10:00 Am - 11:00 Am, Room 6A: What better way to enjoy a Saturday morning at Comic-Con than trying to sleep off a hangover. This Monday, I was able to have a chat with Paul Terry and Tara Bennett. Lost fans have undoubtedly heard of the duo before: Terry is the editor of Lost: The Official Magazine, for which Bennett (formerly Dilullo) is a writer. Bennett is also the writer of guides for 24, Firefly, and more, and is the editor for SFX Magazine.
Terry and Bennett are currently working on the Lost Encyclopedia, an officially licensed book published by Dk that is scheduled to be released on August 16. The four pound, 404 page book will be officially sanctioned by Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse, and Gregg Nations, who, as any Lost fan knows, are the three main brains behind the show's intricate mythology. I sat down with the duo on May 24, the day after the finale, to discuss what they had in store for the tome. This interview will also be posted on Lostpedia, and...

Oscar winner Mira Sorvino has stepped back from the spotlight — and she’s never been happier.
“I don’t want to take time away from my kids. I used to work all year long and basically live in hotel rooms,” she admits to Parade.
Still occasionally lending her talents for smaller roles, Sorvino’s priorities have shifted to her children — Mattea Angel, 5½, Johnny Christopher King, 3½, and Holden Paul Terry, 10 months — with husband Christopher Backus.
Willing to admit a balance may exist when it comes to juggling career and family, for Sorvino the choice was obvious.

She had her doubts, but Mira Sorvino can’t imagine raising her three children anywhere but New York City.
“I worried a bit because we tend to think of New York kids growing up quickly and being super savvy, maybe not in the healthiest way,” she tells the New York Daily News.
With Mattea Angel, 5½, Johnny Christopher King, 3½, and Holden Paul Terry, 10 months, having formed “wonderful friendships” and clearly thriving in the Big Apple, Sorvino’s fears have been laid to rest.

Paramount continues to develop a reboot of the "Mighty Mouse" cartoon character as a big screen CG feature, for Nickelodeon Movies.
Created by writer Izzy Klein as a "Superman" parody for Paul Terry's "Terrytoons", "Mighty Mouse" debuted in the WWII-era, 1942 theatrical animated short "The Mouse of Tomorrow", gaining his 'super-powers' by eating food from a 'super-market', giving him the power of flight, super-strength, invulnerablity, X-ray vision and telekinesis.
'Mighty Mouse' was originally voiced by actor Roy Halee, Sr., followed by Tom Morrison, with the early cartoons portraying him as a ruthless fighter, able to tangle with evil cats.
Mighty Mouse had two rodent girlfriends, including 'Pearl Pureheart' (in the cartoons) and 'Mitzi' (in comic books during the 50's and 60's).
Terrytoons was sold to CBS television in 1955, with the network airing the cartoon shorts on the "Mighty Mouse Playhouse", remaining on the air for twelve years.
A deliberately 'subversive'...

2009 Celebrity Baby Name Roundup
This was a year that saw fewer attention-seeking antics and more real creativity in celebrity parents’ choice of names. Celebrity parents are growing up and becoming more sophisticated in their taste in baby names, just as they did in their taste for fashion. Oscar gowns used to be gaudy, tasteless get-ups designed for maximum exposure of all kinds; now they’re evidence of real individual style. So too with celebrity baby names, many of which are starting to show genuine refined taste and discernment and seem designed to enhance the child’s life.
