ITV in the UK has announced that Law & Order: UK is ending after eight seasons. The final installment aired on June 11th overseas but season eight has yet to air on BBC America.
Created by Dick Wolf, Law & Order: UK began in 2009 and episodes were based on early episodes of the original Law & Order series. The cast includes Bradley Walsh, Ben Bailey Smith, Peter Davison, Georgia Taylor and Dominic Rowan.
"There may well come a time when we re-visit Law & Order: UK," said ITV's Director of Drama Commissioning Steve November. "For the moment we’ll be resting the series whilst we continue to refresh our drama slate."
The cancellation decision coincides with Walsh's decision to leave his role as Ronnie Brooks. The actor has been with the series since the beginning. He said, "Eight series is a...

If I’m being completely honest, and I really do try to be, I had no idea there was a Law & Order: UK. And I’m not surprised. The Us remakes a lot of British television, so why can’t the opposite be true as well? The UK show has obtained two new actors to join the cast, Dominic Rowan and Peter Davison.
Rowan will play Jacob Thorne, the new senior prosecutor replacing James Steele (Ben Daniels). Thorne was made for this job and will let nothing stand in his way when prosecuting. Davison plays Henry Sharpe who has just accepted the job of director of the crown prosecution. Sharpe is “a down-to-earth pragmatist” with a past connection to Thorne. The two actors are joining current series stars Badley Walsh, Jamie Bamber, Harriet Walter and Freema Ageyman

David Cronenberg's third collaboration with Viggo Mortensen is no longer called The Talking Cure, and will henceforth be known as The Dangerous Method. Maybe the former just wasn't sexy enough for those Universal execs. Who the hell wants to go see a movie about, like, talking? So the movie will sport a different title from Christopher Hampton's (Dangerous Liaisons) original play, but otherwise the song remains more or less the same: a three-hander drama about Sigmund Freud arguing with his pupil, Carl Jung, and Jung's affair with the emotionally volatile patient Sabina. The play sold out its 2003 London run starring Ralph Fiennes as Jung, Dominic Rowan as Freud and Jodhi May as Sabina. Cronenberg's version will feature Mortensen as Freud (replacing Christophe Waltz at short notice), Michael Fassbender as Jung, and Keira Knightley.Producer Jeremy Thomas (who worked with Cronenberg on Crash and Naked Lunch) promised Deadline that...

The Talking Cure – it already sounds like a good title, especially if you know that story includes two very well known names like Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.
You had a chance to read about this new project, but some things changed in a meanwhile, mostly those that referred to a possible cast…
For almost three years we knew the fact that David Cronenberg is more than interested in Christopher Hampton’s play The Talking Cure, and was preparing it as his new project.
But like we’re all used to, in Hollywood everything changes within a minute, so did Cronenberg’s plans, since he, in that time, became attached to The Matarese Circle.
Anyway, there was a rumor that names like Keira Knightly, Michael Fassbender and Christoph Waltz, are going to be a part of it.
We must admit that this could be very nice chance for Knightly, since...

London – Keira Knightley has chosen well for her West End stage debut as a spoiled young movie star who is the center of attention in Martin Crimp's rhymed update of Moliere's "The Misanthrope."She gets to look fabulous and also deliver some withering observations and insults to the sycophantic friends who surround her character, much to the annoyance of her disillusioned older lover (Damian Lewis). There is no point pretending that the play itself will be the main attraction to lots of the audience at London's Comedy Theatre when its new show officially opens next week. The West End debut of Keira Knightley will irresistibly get all the headlines and shift a lot of the tickets, though the rest of the cast of The Misanthrope – including Damian Lewis, Dominic Rowan and Tara Fitzgerald – are not exactly duffers. A special word of welcome is due, nevertheless, for the overdue return to the London stage of any play by Molière, who is an all too rarely performed dramatist in this country these days. We haven't yet reached the point where any reference to Molière requires a footnote to explain that he was a celebrated 17th-century French comic playwright. Yet things may be heading that way. Even the National Theatre, which in its early days was a staunch champion of his work,...

I agree with Colin Boyd over @TheBigPicture about Keira Knightley, when he said: Sure, the Pirates movies built her stardom, but she's also picked up an Oscar nomination in the past six years (Pride and Prejudice), was quite good in Atonement, and has done a lot of left-of-center stuff when she could have played it safe and gone for romantic comedies.

- - - That's why Ms. Knightley remains one of today's most sought-after actresses, she is always looking for ways to hone her craft. Now, she's determined to enter theater - Knightley joins Damian Lewis and an outstanding ensemble with Tara Fitzgerald and Dominic Rowan in Martin Crimp's blistering version of Molière's greatest comedy, The Misanthrope.
Transported from 17th century Paris to modern-day London, Alceste (Damian Lewis) is a famous British playwright disillusioned and angry with the hypocrisy, shallowness and vanity of the contemporary world.
