Nominees for feature films were announced on February 1 (the last day of Oscar nominations voting). Many of the leading Academy Awards contenders reaped bids across the various categories according to production cost. Winners will be revealed a virtual ceremony on March 17, which is the first day of final Oscar voting.
Last year’s big budget winners were the comedy “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and the drama “The Trial of the Chicago 7 ” while “The Forty-Year-Old Version” and “One Night in Miami” took the equivalent prizes in the independent division. “Minari” won the low budget and “The Surrogate” the micro budget prizes while “Soul” claimed the animation award.

Winners of the Casting Society of America’s top honors were announced Jan. 21 in both New York City and Los Angeles. The 31st annual Artios Awards recognized the best casting directors in the biz, spanning film, television, Web series, and theater. On hand to present the awards were America Ferrera, Finn Wittrock, William H. Macy, Jay Duplass, Neil Brown Jr., and host Greg Grunberg on the west coast, and Jeff Daniels, Christian Slater, Annaleigh Ashford, Jake Lacy, David Hyde Pierce, Kal Penn, Rachel Dratch, and host Tituss Burgess on the east coast. “Straight Outta Compton” took home the Feature Film Big Budget Drama award for CDs Cindy Tolan and Victoria Thomas, location CDs Meagan Lewis, Beth Sepko, Carolyn Pickman, Lucinda Syson, Pat Moran, and associate Judith Sunga. It was a good night for Tolan, who also won New York Broadway Theatre award for the drama “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

"No Country for Old Men" and "Juno," two of the most honored films of 2007, made one more appearance on the awards circuit Monday night as they took home top prizes at the Casting Society of America's 24th Artios Awards.
Recognizing outstanding achievement in casting, the awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, singled out Oscar winner "No Country" in the studio feature-drama category, with the trophy going to Ellen Chenoweth and Jo Edna Boldin (location casting). In the studio feature-comedy category, the winners were Mindy Marin, Coreen Mayres (location) and Heike Brandstatter (location) for "Juno."

Warner Bros. Pictures' Mystic River and Paramount Pictures' School of Rock were the top winners in the film category at the Casting Society of America's 20th annual Artios Awards, held in simultaneous events in Beverly Hills and New York. Phyllis Huffman and Carolyn Pickman were recognized Tuesday for feature film (drama) casting for River, while Ilene Starger was honored for feature film casting (comedy) for Rock. Ferne Cassel and Kimberly Mullen walked away with the award for independent feature film casting for their work on Monster. In television, Gary M. Zuckerbrod won dramatic episodic casting for CBS' Without a Trace, while the dramatic pilot casting nod went to John Papsidera and Wendy O'Brien for HBO's Carnivale.
