Pixar isn’t pulling any punches when its new film, Inside Out 2, comes to cinemas on June 14. At a time when films come to digital and streaming services alarmingly fast, Pixar says Inside Out 2 will get an extended theatrical run in favor of being rushed to Disney+ shortly after release.
Speaking with Bloomberg, Pixar president Jim Morris says Inside Out 2 is playing in theaters for at least 100 days. “I hope that we will not release another feature film on Disney+,” Morris explained. “If we do more stuff for Disney+, it should be a series, and then that makes a clean demarcation between what we do for theaters and what we do for streaming.”
Pixar found varying success with several of its most recent films, including Soul, Luca, Turning Red, Lightyear, and Elemental. The studio’s biggest releases underperformed theatrically, mostly due to the pandemic, except Elemental, which...

Pixar’s focus is now on two words: “IP” and “Franchise.” The company that was once known for new and creative ideas is now finding ways to make more IP sequels or come up with “franchise seeds,” according to Pixar’s president, Jim Morris.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Morris discussed Pixar’s new focus of making three new films every two years instead of one film a year. Those three films will have two sequels or spinoffs and only one new concept that will be used as “potential seeds for new franchises.”
It isn’t about creating ideas that are just good films anymore. It’s about franchising everything for Disney.
Pixar did incredibly well for years, and then when John Lasseter left, it seemed to nosedive.
While some of their newer films aren’t as good as older ones, they still aren’t terrible. “Turning Red,” “Luca,” and...

General Hospital (Gh) spoilers note that Fergus Byrnes and Alexis Davis have an odd connection in that Alexis dated his estranged brother Neil Byrnes (Joe Flanigan), who is now dead.
Of course, he was the prosecutor looking to ensure she did not get her legal license back, and now she’s returned to square one.
Still, the portrayers also have a connection as actor Lane Davies and actress Nancy Lee Grahn played super couple Mason Capwell and Julia Wainwright in the 1980s on the soap Santa Barbara. With that being said, Nancy isn’t the only “connection” Lane has on the Gh set.
:General Hospital Spoilers – Lane Davies Has “History” With Kate Manis
During a recent chat with Soap Opera Digest (Sod), Davies notes that he has a “history”, with another Gh cast member: Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos-Davis).
Lane states his “history” with Mansi dates back more than four decades (before she was born!

Now, the actor says she’s ready to start her creative career as well. Sort of. He tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast that whenever his daughter gets in trouble at school, they send her home a bit early and she gets to join her dad at work. And that’s where the fun begins.
“She’s now quite accustomed to being on set,” Morris said. “When the Ad will say quiet on set or rolling, she will start to let everyone know that it’s time to be quiet on set. So much so that she’s now the loud one. She won’t stop screaming: ‘Quiet on set!'...

American Nightmare follows the story of Denise Huskins and partner Aaron Quinn, the victims of a home invasion in 2015 in Vallejo, California, that resulted in Huskins’ kidnapping. However, the couple was quickly accused of staging it all, with Huskins being labeled “the real Gone Girl.” Directors Bernadette Higgins and Felicity Morris (The Tinder Swindler) set out to tell Huskins’ story piece by piece, highlighting law enforcement behavior, victim blaming and trial by media.
When did you first hear about Denise’s story and decide it’d be your next project?
Bernadette Higgins It was just after The Tinder Swindler was released and we’d already decided that we wanted our next project to be together. And Raw, the company that we made Tinder Swindler with, had actually been trying to get access to Denise and Aaron for about two years. They approached us with it and asked us if we’d like to co-direct it.

It seems that after Schindler's List, the recent The Zone of Interest, and hundreds of other films and TV series, it is becoming more and more difficult to talk about the Second World War and the Holocaust. The viewers have looked into this abyss of human suffering from the perspective of the victims and the perpetrators; as direct participants and witnesses of other people's grief.
Should we expect something new from the next project that we don't know yet? Or is the task not to let history be forgotten? You'll find the answer below.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is Based on a Real Story

Welcome to My Favorite Scene! In this series, IndieWire speaks to actors behind a few of our favorite television performances about their personal-best onscreen moment and how it came together.
IndieWire caught Lamorne Morris on the road. Headed to work on an unnamed set in Los Angeles, the “Fargo” Season 5 actor joked about an overcast day and rush-hour traffic. Asked how he was faring, he quipped on speakerphone, “Oh, I’m good! I’m in the car, just driving at high speeds recklessly. Very, veeery recklessly.”
The former “New Girl” actor may be many years entrenched in the Hollywood grind, but Morris is native to Chicago. A childhood spent in the American midwest helped him with the accent and demeanor needed for Deputy Witt Farr. The North Dakota highway patrolman has a surprise encounter in Episode 1 “The Tragedy of the Commons” with the scrappy Dot Lyon (Juno Temple) and menacing...

The cult classic 1976 Universal Pictures film Car Wash is getting the small-screen treatment from producer Malcolm D. Lee (“The Best Man” franchise) and writer Opey Olagbaju. A comedy series of the same name is in development at NBC from Universal Television.
Set at a modern-day DC car wash, the TV series focuses on an immigrant family’s generational and cultural clashes between father and son and their eclectic group of employees.
The logline reveals many similarities to the original film while using the TV format to make the story much bigger. The Michael Schultz-directed film follows the lives of a group of friends from Los Angeles who work at the Dee-Luxe Car Wash and the interesting characters they interact with one Friday in July.

Pixar was hit with layoffs on Tuesday as approximately 175 employees, or 14% of its workforce, were let go.
In a note to staff, Pixar president Jim Morris said that individuals who have been impacted by the layoffs will be notified on Tuesday. “Calendar invites to speak with a leader have already gone out to those individuals, and we anticipate we will have connected with everyone impacted by the end of the day,” he wrote.
Pixar employees have been bracing for layoffs since January, but cuts were smaller than the speculated 20% reduction that was reported at the time.

The worst part of being an Ed doctor is giving bad news that amounts to a death sentence.
Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 12 had Marcel struggling to get the transplant board to allow him to hold onto a liver while a young patient recovered from an infection, only for him to change his mind at the last second.
His sudden change of heart didn't make sense, especially considering how arrogant and insensitive Dr. Morris was about the procedure throughout the story.
Why Did Marcel Change His Mind?
Dr. Marcel butted heads with Dr. Morris throughout the hour.
Morris was skeptical of whether Marcel could successfully do this procedure, demanded repeatedly that someone else be given the liver, and complained that the transplant committee meeting was a waste of time when he didn't get his way.
The climactic scene involved Sharon saying Marcel made the decision and Morris whining about it. Then,...

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has no shortage of villains that Spidey has to face in the game. We saw many of the hero’s previous supervillains being rehabilitated and trying to live normal lives in New York City. However, Kraven the Hunter doesn’t let this happen, as his lust for a strong opponent has proven too powerful.
While creating New York City his very own jungle throughout Marvel Spider-Man 2’s main campaign, Kraven eliminates all of Spider-Man’s old villains. He captures them to fight them one-on-one to find out who can overpower him. At the game’s launch, many fans initially disagreed with the Insomniac’s approach with Kraven the Hunter and argued he shouldn’t have faced off against old spidey villains. However, the game’s narrative director and advanced writer believe their decisions made Kraven a menacing villain.

Unique formatting, an enjoyable character, and some focus on Vic made for an emotional hour.
The long overdue breakdown and breakthrough for Vic occurred on Station 19 Season 7 Episode 6, and we also got to fill in some of the cracks between seasons via flashbacks.
Also, Vic has to keep her job, and Crisis One will live to see multiple days.
Station 19 Fans and Fanatics, Ellie Mv, Heather M, Haley Whitmire White, and Sara Trimble convened to discuss the episode's best, worst, and most confusing moments.
Join the discussion below.
What's your opinion on the flashback formatting used for this episode? Did you need clarification on the timeline?
Ellie: My opinion on the flashbacks is that they were poorly used.
Following the episode's timeline was confusing and hard, so I was completely lost. And if they were supposed to be flashbacks, why have they not done some details like Maya's hair just like they did with Vic?...

Netflix believes in the power of faith-based film… and in the power of Tyler Perry.
Netflix has extended its creative deal with mega-producer Tyler Perry, in which he’s meant to write, direct, and produce films and series for the streamer, to now include faith-based movies. Perry and Netflix as part of the deal will recruit one of the original hit makers in the current wave of faith-based movies, DeVon Franklin (“Miracles from Heaven”).
Together, Franklin and Perry will produce several faith-based films for Netflix as part of a new multiyear and multi-picture first-look film deal, Netflix announced on May 6.
The first project under the deal will be “R&b,” a modern-day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz, one of the Bible’s iconic love stories. Set in Tennessee, “R&b” tells the story of a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an...

Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin are teaming up to produce faith-based films under a multi-year and multi-picture first-look deal at Netflix.
The films will be produced by the duo in conjunction with Tyler Perry Studios in the latest expansion of Perry’s creative partnership at Netflix, inked as a first-look film deal in October 2023 and has broadened to include scripted and unscripted TV projects.
“I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects,” said Perry in a statement announcing the partnership. “I think in this polarizing world, and at a time where the world seems to be growing colder everyday, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good. More essays have been written about "Citizen Kane" than any other movie (with the possible exceptions of "The Wizard of Oz" and "Star Wars"), so it feels churlish to recount the plot here, but for the uninitiated, however, here's a brief rundown:
A vicious newspaper tycoon named Charles Foster Kane (Welles) has died in bed, locked deep in his massive, palatial mansion. He clutched a snow globe in his hand in his final moments, moved by the sight of the swirling faux weather inside. He enigmatically whispers the word "Rosebud" before perishing. The film then shifts focus to a reporter (William Alland) who spends the film interviewing Kane's associates, wives, and lovers, hoping to get a full portrait of the man. He finds that Kane was a cad ruined by wealth and power. He finds that Kane was possessed of a deep and abiding unhappiness, likely spurred by having to...

I’ve predicted Megalopolis, anticipated as it is, will have a clear dividing point: the cultural commentariat hoping to see “another film by the director of The Godfather” and those who appreciate “something that looks and sounds like a Star Wars prequel.” I am very firmly in the latter, was duly excited by the first image, and can only be pleased with the time-stopping debut teaser, arriving today via Le Pacte.
It comes with a sad addenedum. Coppola, sharing the teaser on Instagram, noted:
Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife Eleanor. I really had hoped to celebrate her birthday together this May 4th. But sadly that was not to be, so let me share with everyone a gift on her behalf.
As Coppola recently told Vanity Fair, “I wouldn’t have been able to make it without standing as I do on the shoulders of G.B. Shaw,...

Olivia Cooke, Jamie Bell to Lead Italy-Set Romance ‘Takes One To Know One’ from ‘Pam & Tommy’ Writer
“Sound of Metal” star Olivia Cooke, soon to be returning to “House of the Dragon” for its second season, and BAFTA winner Jamie Bell, recently seen in “All of Us Strangers,” are set to star in “Takes One to Know One.” The film is billed as an “unconventional and contemporary take on romance.”
The feature comes from Italian director Nathalie Biancheri, working from a 2022 Black List screenplay by WGA-nominated writer Brooke Baker. Production is due to commence in Italy later this year, with Cornerstone handling international sales and distribution and and launching sales at Cannes and co-repping the U.S. with CAA Media Finance.
“Takes One to Know One” follows Eleanor (Cooke) and Lucas (Bell). When the two meet in Rome, their chemistry is electric. With a shared passion for art, Italy and each other, it looks like the start of something life-changing. The biggest stumbling block: they are both in relationships with other people.

Who wouldn't give everything there is for more time with Victoria Hughes?
While initially, Station 19 Season 7 Episode 6 didn't have the feel of a Vic-centric installment, and it had some unique formatting that frankly made for a rather underwhelming hour, by the end, things aren't always what they seem.
It was deceptively good, so much so that it took me until the 40-minute mark to truly appreciate what they were laying out. And it'll probably be more impactful upon rewatches.
Once the installment clicked, it truly clicked, with a turnaround, yes, but also a realization that the writers were taking us on an understated journey.
But I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that the first 40 minutes of this installment were confusing and underwhelming.
We have precious little time to spend with this series and these characters. Every episode counts.
Presumably, there's an end goal in mind as we tread...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “With So Little to Be Sure Of,” the sixth episode of the final season of ABC’s “Station 19.”
Boris Kodjoe is ready to start his next chapter. Since wrapping production last month on the final season of ABC’s venerable firefighter drama “Station 19,” the 51-year-old actor — who rose to fame in the early aughts in the Showtime drama “Soul Food” — has set his sights on broadening his horizons.
Chief among them is working more behind the camera. After directing his wife (and former “Soul Food” costar) Nicole Ari Parker in the Lifetime movie “Safe Room,” Kodjoe expressed an interest in helming an episode of “Station 19,” and his wish was granted midway through the show’s final 10-episode run. It was the ideal training ground for Kodjoe, whose exacting nature earned him a special nickname on set.

Lali Sokolow kept a secret for 60 years before his story of love and survival in a Nazi death camp was captured in The Tattooist of Auschwitz — the novel that inspired the Peacock limited series of the same name, which released its six episodes on Thursday.
Sokolow, after reaching the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1942, eventually tattooed identifying serial numbers on the arms of fellow Jewish prisoners who were deemed fit to work and weren’t directed immediately to the gas chambers during the Holocaust. And collaborating with the Nazis by taking on the duties of a tattooist to stay alive caused Sokolow a life of guilt, fear and paranoia.
But his three years in Auschwitz also gave Lali the love of his life: Gita Furman, an 18-year-old Slovakian Jewish prisoner he instantly fell for the moment he put a painful needle into her skin to imprint a five-number tattoo. “I tattooed...

Specific images of the Holocaust have endlessly punctuated the film and TV landscape: The barbed wire of a concentration camp. Naked bodies rendered to skin and bone, tossed in discarded piles. Gleeful abuse and random killings by evil Nazis. Hollywood has repeatedly ingrained that imagery when presenting this horrific time in history, so to continue conjuring it adds to the collective trauma of an entire people.
Yet all these displays and more are the Sky Studios and Peacock co-production “The Tattooist of Auschwitz.” That makes it a challenging show to sit through, let alone binge six episodes of, when the event series drops on Peacock on May 2.
The series finds inspiration in Heather Morris’ controversial, bestselling 2018 book of the same name. Morris wrote the debut novel after spending time with a Slovakian Holocaust survivor named Lali Sokolov (nee Ludwig Eisenberg), who was a tattooist at Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

In Nazi concentration camps, tattoos were etched on prisoners’ arms in an attempt to erase their humanity, turning them into numbers. The Tattooist of Auschwitz, a wrenching but ultimately uplifting six-part series adapted from the non-fiction novel by Heather Morris, corrects this atrocity by repeatedly presenting a stark gallery of somber faces, among the millions lost to history but burned into the memory of Auschwitz-Birkenau survivor Lali Sokolov (an affecting Harvey Keitel). Still overcome with anger, grief and guilt in 2003, more than a half-century after the Holocaust, the recently widowed Lali recounts the horrors to novice writer Morris (Melanie Lynskey), framing his account as the most unlikely of love stories. It was in Auschwitz, assigned to tattoo numbers onto incoming prisoners—“It’s worse if you’re gentle,” he’s told—that the cautious Lali (mournful Jonah Hauer-King as the younger man) meets and is instantly smitten by new arrival...

Now that Francis Ford Coppola has unveiled his long-in-the-works epic Megalopolis to buyers and the industry, we’re just a few weeks away from its official premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. As he hopefully secures U.S. distribution soon, the first look has finally arrived.
Featuring Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel towering above the metropolis, the first image comes courtesy from Vanity Fair, who also share a few new quotes from Coppola himself. “My first goal always is to make a film with all my heart, so I began to realize it would be about love and loyalty in every aspect of human life,” said the director. “Megalopolis echoed these sentiments, in which love was expressed in almost crystalline complexity, our planet in danger and our human family almost in an act of suicide, until becoming a very optimistic film that has faith in the human being to possess...

Amazon has leveraged the power of Nielsen ratings for “Thursday Night Football,” and Netflix could do likewise going forward.
After making its first major sports-adjacent deal in its history, there’s officially room to speculate on what sports Netflix could pursue next. Netflix signed a 10-year, $5 billion deal to stream “WWE Raw” starting in 2025 in late January, and industry talking-heads are already wondering what other sports Netflix could go after. But with Netflix’s recent decision to no longer report its subscriber totals to the public, will it still be able to convince sports leagues it wants to partner with that it’s a good potential broadcaster for their games?
Netflix has nearly 270 million customers but will stop reporting its totals publicly in Q1 2025. Company co-ceo Ted Sarandos said Netflix isn’t anti-sports, but pro-growth. Prime Video uses Nielsen ratings to quantify its sports successes, and Netflix could do likewise in the future.

Having spent many years as a fan of Jackass, I’ve always gravitated to the career of Johnny Knoxville. The actor has a new feature currently available for streaming or purchase on Prime, and frankly, he’s excellent in it. Sweet Dreams tells the story of Morris, a man who has found himself at a sober living facility. The film, written and directed by Lije Sparks, is a sweet, funny, and heartfelt tale, one that is utterly inspiring. The sports aspect is fun, as the group put together a ragtag softball team to save their place, but it’s also a serious work. Also starring Kate Upton, Bobby Lee, Jay Mohr, and Gata, it’s an inspiring film with a huge heart.
I’ve always enjoyed chatting with Mr. Knoxville, and this was no exception. Both Johnny and Mr. Sarki opened up about bringing a bit of positivity to those struggling with addiction.

It’s never easy finding that sweet spot between sentimentality and comedy, but it’s a line walked successfully by filmmaker Lije Sarki, in the gentle, at times poignant Sweet Dreams, which features Johnny Knoxville in a role far removed from that of which we’ve seen him undertake before.
To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure of speaking to both Knoxville and Sarki together, as well as the two supporting actors Bobby Lee and GaTa. We discuss the film’s tonality, the fun that was had on set – and finally got to tell Knoxville all about ‘BillyBum’. It’ll make sense after you’ve seen the interview.
Johnny Knoxville & Lije Sarki
Bobby Lee & GaTa
Synopsis
Follows Morris, who must coach a misfit softball team of his fellow housemates during his mandatory stay at Sweet Dreams sober living in order to get his life back on track.
