John Krasinski is set to executive produce single-camera family sitcom “My Bad Parent” at Fox, which gave his Sunday Night Productions a script order plus penalty. “My Bad Parent” hails from “Family Guy” scribe Alex Carter. The project — inspired by the book and blog of the same name — reminds us we’re not alone in our parenting faux pas, per Fox. It follows a blue-collar, loving-yet-imperfect family with a point of view that alternates between the blunt working mother and her pubescent son. Carter, Allyson Seeger, Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim will executive produce alongside the “Office” alum. “My Bad Parent” also has roots.

Gangster Squad helmer Ruben Fleischer has been tapped to direct the story of Leo Sharp, the Indiana man who this year was caught running drugs for Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel and was sent to the slammer at age 90. An award-winning horticulturist and decorated WWII veteran known for his prized day lilies, Sharp was busted by the feds in 2011 while hauling $3 million in cocaine down the Michigan interstate in his Lincoln pickup truck. He had been one of the cartel’s most prolific drug couriers.
Imperative Entertainment acquired rights to Sam Dolnick’s Nyt Magazine article on Sharp, “The Sinaloa Cartel’s 90-Year-Old Drug Mule.” They’re looking for a writer to tell the story of how the ex-war hero was tracked down by DEA agents who only had the nickname Tata, or Grandfather, to work with. Sharp’s lawyers convinced a jury his dementia sent him on the wrong path and he got three years.

Ego can be a great thing, as it can be the driving force that causes you to constantly be better, to strive harder and go further in whatever field you excel at. Unfortunately, those who have an overinflated ego are fragile, and when that ego has been challenged, it can cause that person to have a crisis and to lose any drive they may have had.
Enter Dennis Kim, a 15-year-old wunderkind who Dr. Gablehauser is courting to bring to Caltech for his doctorate work. Gablehauser introduces him to Sheldon and Leonard, who are having a discussion about how teleportation isn't a desirable mode of transportation as it merely makes a copy of the individual and destroys the original. When Sheldon tells him that he himself started his doctorate work at 14, Kim merely states that he lost a year while he and his family were...

Costume designer for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Michael Kaplan, talks us through his choices and intentions for clothing in the film. Prepare to be disappointed if you want Tom Cruise’s blue silk suit worn in Dubai; it was custom made by Mr. Kaplan himself. At least Cruise’s Persol sunglasses are available to buy, however.
Michael Kaplan is a powerhouse force in costume design. He is guaranteed to have worked on at least one Hollywood movie you fondly remember from the last twenty years or so. If in doubt consider he designed Samuel L. Jackson’s pimp ensembles for The Long Kiss Good Night (1996) and Randy Quaid’s bad taste brilliance as Cousin Eddie in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989). All of those beauteous stage outfits you saw in Burlesque?...

How Ryan Gosling, George Clooney and Philip Seymour Hoffman mastered the art of the understated suit
My browser history was cleared of all traces of "F*ck Yeah! Ryan Gosling". Various synonyms for 'silver fox' were banished from all talk of George Clooney. The curious soft spot I hold for Philip Seymour Hoffman was set aside. I was prepared to objectively analyse The Ides of March - a film full of, to quote Derek Zoolander, "really, really, ridiculously good looking" people.
But no sooner had the three men sashayed onto screen than my jaw fell agape and my eyes glazed over dreamily. Why? It was the suits.
The Savile Row tailor Hardy Amies once said that, "A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care, then forgotten all about them." It's a maxim that epitomises great heritage labels like Brooks Brothers,...

Perhaps the most mind-churning mainstream film of recent years, Inception is testament to the power of great costume design. Not only does it look sumptuous, thanks to all those 3 pc suits and silk ties, but because of costume designer Jeffrey Kurland and director Christopher Nolan’s commitment to clothing serving an implicit function, Inception is at least partially decipherable by what the characters wear. The screen is filled with costume clues to interpret.
Jeffrey Kurland has been costume designer on thirty seven feature films, including Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Collateral (2004), though Inception is his first collaboration with Chris Nolan. Here he explains to Clothes on Film his sartorial choices for the movie and how they integrate with the story.
Clothes on Film, Chris: Was it your intention to give each character a signature look, e.g. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Arthur in 3pc suits, or Ellen Page’s Ariadne nearly always wearing patterned silk neck scarves?...
