Sony’s video game journey began in 1993 through the amalgamation with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, giving birth to the first PlayStation. Since then, it has become the gold standard in the console business, and eventually in the gaming industry. From Tekken to Uncharted the company has achieved great feats not just in terms of quality but revenue too.

God of War: Ragnarok is an incredibly well-made game. Its story surely leaves fans desiring more, but its gameplay, level design, visuals, and music make up for it. Something that brings this game to the top, though, is its characters and the actors playing them. From Kratos to Odin, every character in God of War is played with excellence.
The evidence lies in the fact that Christopher Judge, the incredible actor behind God of War, himself won the Best Actor award during the Game Awards ceremony. What’s even better is that he got this award from none other than Al Pacino. But it looks like he wasn’t always open about working on such a project before.
Christopher Judge would not have played Kratos in God of War if things were different
A still from God of War: Ragnarok
Every actor in Hollywood is looking for his or her chance.

Disney+ isn’t wasting any time getting Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 underway.
While the renewal announcement came just a few days ago, executive producer Jon Steinberg says “there’s a couple of scripts” already in the works.
“They’re in really good shape. I think starting to boot up this machine again is an undertaking. There’s a lot of trains leaving the station all at the same time. But I think we’re feeling really good about creative and about how to plan for how to tell the stories,” he added during the Disney+ series’ panel at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
As with Season 1, Steinberg and executive producer Dan Shotz assured that they are leaning heavily on the book to tell the story. They will also rely on author Rick Riordan and his wife, executive producer Becky Riordan, to adapt Sea of Monsters.

Writer/actor Felicia Day made the trek to the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con in support of her fantasy adventure audio series Third Eye, debuting on Audible on October 5, 2023. The seven-hour audio series stars Day as Laurel Pettigrew, a not-so-ordinary San Francisco resident who was supposed to rid the world of the evil Tybus. Unfortunately, Laurel couldn’t fulfill her destiny.
Audible offers this description: “Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel’s the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule. He’s even stripped away the magical powers of those who refused to join his wicked cause. Yeah, everyone hates her. Well, everyone except her two roomies—Sybil, the sassiest diva of a fairy, who could throw shade with the flick of a wing. And Frank,...

Writer and Actress Felicia Day stopped by San Diego Comic-Con along with some of her cast from her new story “Third Eye.” Day is the creator and star of the web series The Guild (2007–2013), a show loosely based on her life as a gamer. As an actress, Day has played Vi in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2003) and Dr. Holly Marten in Eureka (2011) and had a recurring role as Charlie Bradbury on Supernatural (2012–2015, 2018–2020).
According to Audible, “Third Eye” is about the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel’s performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop.

God of War Ragnorok made good on its record-breaking haul of BAFTA Games Awards nominations by emerging with the largest number of gongs from the 2023 ceremony.
Held on Thursday night in London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank (and livestreamed on Twitch), the event — hosted by Julia Hardy and Inel Tomlinson — saw Sony’s bloody battle into Norse mythology win six awards, including performance honors for Christopher Judge and Laya DeLeon Hayes and Game of the Year, the only award voted for by the public. The game — the sequel to 2019’s God of War (itself a BAFTA Game of the Year winner) — had gone into the night with 14 nominations.
However, in something of a major shock, indie shooter Vampire Survivors — a title largely solely developed by Luca Galante — landed the top best game prize.

Prime Video announced recently that its live-action adaptation of "God of War" will be focused on the 2018 entry in the video game series. Considering the most recent entry, "God of War: Ragnarök" swept this year's Game Awards with an impressive six wins, including Best Narrative, Best Score and Music, and Best Performance, the iron literally could not be any hotter for the striking.
The "God of War" series which, as of this writing, features nine installments, has sold over 51 million individual copies. Of that astronomical number, "Ragnarök" can claim a little over 5 million (it only released in November of this year), and approximately 23 million sales can be attributed to the 2018 entry, simply titled "God of War."
It is perhaps for this reason, then, that Prime Video's live-action production will begin with the 2018 game, which is functionally the fourth main title, the fifth being "Ragnarök." In commercial terms, sure, it makes...

Boy! Amazon is putting plenty of firepower behind its God of War TV series. According to reports, Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins and The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are adapting the award-winning Playstation game. Fergus and Ostby will write the series and executive produce alongside Judkins.
The God of War series revolves around Kratos, the demigod son of Zeus, and a mortal woman named Callisto. After exacting vengeance against the Gods of Olympus, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. In this harsh, unforgiving world, he must fight to survive and teach his son to do the same.
“God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling,” Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios, said in a statement.

A live-action adaptation of PlayStation’s hit video game franchise “God of War” has been ordered to series at Amazon’s Prime Video, with “Wheel of Time” boss Rafe Judkins set as showrunner.
Based on the massively popular 2018 video game, the show follows Kratos, the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard, per Amazon’s description. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son Atreus to spread her ashes from the highest peak — his wife’s final wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.

For the most part, The Game Awards 2022 was an excellent installment in what is quickly becoming the biggest gaming show of the year. We were treated to some incredible announcements, quite a few great games walked away with awards, and it was certainly nice to see the show return to a live format. However, there are always a few weird moments at these kinds of shows, and this year’s Game Awards event was no exception. If anything, this might have been the weirdest Game Awards event yet.
While it’s always a least a little sad that such moments can steal the show from the winners and reveals, it’s not hard to see why everyone is obsessed with some of The Game Awards 2022 moments that almost certainly didn’t go according to plan. After all, it’s not every year that we get to talk about Al Pacino,...

Al Pacino left the Game Awards crowd in hysterics following a surprise appearance at the ceremony.
The Hollywood star of films including The Godfather, Dog Day Afternoon and Scarface was an unexpected presence at the event on Thursday (8 December).
After Pacino was introduced to the stage by host Geoff Keighley, audience members appeared to be in shock that the Oscar-winner had shown up to the ceremony, which is essentially the Academy Awards for video games.
“It’s really good to see you here,” Pacino, 82, said after arriving on the stage, adding: “This is an experience for me.”
At this, the crowd laughed, with Pacino continuing: “[It’s] one I didn’t expect, so here I am, as usual doing surprising things for myself.”
But Pacino admitted he was struggling to see the autocue, stating: “Anyway, it may come as a shock to you but I... It’s hard for me to see the teleprompter.

The entertainment industry is full of award ceremonies, and gaming is no exception. Countless outlets and organizations give out awards for what they believe are the cream of the crop, but the biggest gaming awards show of them all has to be The Game Awards.
The Game Awards is the brainchild of journalist Geoff Keigley and the spiritual successor to the often woeful Spike Video Game Awards. Audiences have tuned in to watch The Game Awards since it started in 2014, and the event has been running strong ever since. Each year, The Game Award pulls in more and more viewers, and given the quality of 2022’s biggest releases, the ceremony stands a chance of breaking records yet again. Viewers can expect to see titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Stray, Elden Ring, and God of War: Ragnarok duking it out for various awards, including the coveted “Game of the Year” trophy.

The prologue of “God of War Ragnarök” peaks with a dramatic moment that fans of Sony’s blockbuster video game franchise have been waiting for since it was teased at the end of the previous installment in 2018: The reveal of the saga’s big bad, a Norse deity whose obsessive desire to rip apart the fabric of fate itself has severely complicated the former God of War’s quest to scatter his wife’s ashes from the highest peak in all the nine realms and establish an emotional bond with the child he seldom refers to by name.

For reasons that I’m afraid this writer doesn’t want to know more about than necessary, a lot of you seem to want to know how tall Kratos, Thor, and Tyr are in God of War: Ragnarok. While that may be because some of those characters clearly tower above others in the game, I suspect it has more to do with the same reasons so many were obsessed with Lady Dimitrescu not long ago.
In any case, the growing obsession (see what I did there?) with fictional characters’ heights means that we actually know more than we probably ever needed to know about how tall those (and other) Ragnarok characters are. So whether you’re simply a prospector of digital proportions, or you’re looking to put together a Tinder profile for some of Ragnarok‘s main characters and don’t want to misrepresent them, here’s what you need to know about Kratos,...

God of War Ragnarok is many things, but one of the game’s best features is its nearly unrivaled cinematic presentation style. Of course, the sequel’s ambitious narrative and storytelling would be nothing without the perfect cast of voice actors to play every character.
Thankfully, Ragnarok features such a cast. While many of the game’s principal characters (and voice actors) are returning from 2018’s God of War, those familiar faces and voices are joined by some fully-realized new characters that help make this game the most epic God of War adventure yet.
Before we dive a bit deeper into all that, you should know that the full God of War: Ragnarok cast is massive. Not only would it be incredibly difficult to list every single voiced character in the game in anything close to a legible format, but we would be spoiling a significant portion of the game...

Whether it be in the context of box office cinema, small scale television or even animated roles, actors are replaced all the time for myriad reasons. Directorial changes, availability (or lack thereof) and untimely deaths often crop up as some of the most common obstacles standing in the way of consistency though sometimes, it seems, professionals are unceremoniously replaced without even the slightest courtesy.
That appears to have been the case with Tc Carson, at least, who has revealed in a recent interview with YouTuber djvlad why he was unable to reprise the role of Kratos in Sony Santa Monica’s God of War soft reboot. While we’d highly recommend watching the series for yourself (link below) Carson, a well-known singer and voice actor, recalls the reason for his not being asked to return as a relatively straightforward one.

God of War has been one of Sony’s biggest video game franchises ever since the first outing debuted on PlayStation 2 way back in 2005. Kratos has gone on to behead, disembowel and dismember all manner of mythological beasties over seven adventures, culminating in 2018’s incredible God of War. This was a soft reboot that shifted focus from Greek to Norse mythology, introduced more mature themes and added a lot of depth to Kratos’ character. It’s considered one of the finest efforts of the generation and everyone is eagerly looking forward to the sequel due for release late next year.
All this success means it’s not a huge surprise that rumors are building of Sony developing a God of War movie or TV show, with insider Daniel Richtman the latest to report on its existence. There’s been talk of a film ever since the first game, though Daniel Craig...

For many people, the holidays bring with them fond memories of video game firsts: time playing with your family, new gaming systems revealed amidst shredded papers and squeals of delight, long snowbound days lounging through a favorite title.
Over the summer, we asked Twitter for their favorite memories and were awarded with lovely stories of moms saving for computers for their kids, playing games with them, beating treasured games, gnome punching in “Golden Axe.”
Earlier this month we brought that question to the Game Awards, taking to the red carpet to ask the gathering of developers, presenters, influencers, and celebrities what their fondest video game memory was.
The answers, from the likes of Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie, Ninja, Christopher Judge the cast of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” and more.
Enjoy.

For developers, several years of blood, sweat, and tears paid off when their game finally hit shelves, to the delight of the masses. The 5th Annual Game Awards set out to honor those who worked (and continue to work) so hard to give us these lasting experiences with nominations, platforms to talk about their process, and of course the highly-sought after award.

Wait a minute…
I love wrestling. Big Daddy… Giant Haystacks…
Sadly, neither men are in it for they are no longer with us. (R.I.P) But you do get John “Johnny Impact” Hennigan playing a backpacker named Travis and Aaron “Jesus/Uno” Aguilera as the hulking psychopath Angus.

Christopher Judge has had the honor of giving voice to one of the hardest individuals in gaming that’s ever been created, and it’s past time that many people just decided to give the kind of appreciation that he deserves for it. The God of War games managed to come out to a very receptive audience and it seems as it should be since the tale that’s being told is one that is epic in a way that is both grand and heartfelt since it’s about a man that has lost pretty much everything and goes about challenging the gods and

God of War is a triumphant return to the series, but this isn’t the furious rampage we’ve known before. Unlike the stagnancy growing among other franchises in the genre, God of War has learned to evolve in these past five years, creating a more thoughtful, storytelling-based approach. But it doesn’t just craft one of the most heartfelt father-son stories in years, the game consistently delivers on almost every other area perfectly, while simultaneously holding onto the core of its predecessors and the fantastical nature of what made God of War successful in the first place.
God of War is seemingly absent of its puddle deep, annoying protagonist killing everything that breathes. Instead a roughed, mentally withered Kratos built of experience and stories. As the director, Cory Barlog, said himself, “Kratos was an angry lump of muscle, I made him a struggling father”. However, his roots haven’t been forgotten,...

We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...
As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances.

After a strong start, 10 seasons and multiple spin-offs took Stargate Sg-1 further and further away from its original premise...
I’ve recently had time to catch-up on the staple of afternoon television when I was a lad, Stargate Sg-1. First launched in 1997, it ran for ten seasons and it’s aged surprisingly well, in no small part due to it being heavily character-driven and fairly horror-focussed for its first two runs. This is most likely thanks to its first five seasons airing on sex-and-guts cable channel Showtime, while its later seasons aired the more clean-cut Syfy channel in the Us. All in all, it’s rip-roaring sci-fi; the kind of ‘explore and fight with interesting plots and great character arcs’ storytelling that filled the void left by successive Star Trek series which never quite captured the wonder of the unknown in the way that the Original Series or The Next Generation did.
