The CW is reportedly making plans to develop a modern day take on Alice in Wonderland, turning the iconic fairy tale character into a big city detective who discovers an unusual world underneath Los Angeles.
McG would serve as an executive producer, along with writer Chad Hodge (The Playboy Club) and Peter Johnson. Sounds like a can't-miss project, doesn't it?
The working title for the series is Wunderland and it follows other chatter that the network is also plotting shows around Sleepy Hollow and Wonder Woman.
Dare we even ask if anyone thinks this is a good idea?...

This sounds like a clusterfudge, but let’s get into it: The CW is developing a contemporary version of Alice in Wonderland. Alice will be a modern-day big city detective. McG is one of the executive producers, along with writer Chad Hodge (The Playboy Club) and Peter Johnson. What could go wrong?
In this version, Alice discovers a fantastical world beneath Los Angeles. The working title is Wunderland (yes, with a “u”). It sounds a bit like The CW’s upcoming reboot of Beauty and the Beast, right?
As previously reported, The CW also has a Sleepy Hollow and Wonder Woman series in the works.

First, the CW decided it would reboot Beauty and the Beast; now, the young-skewing network is reimagining Alice in Wonderland. A script has been commissioned for the project, titled Wunderland, which is being billed as a contemporary iteration of Alice in Wonderland, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The drama will center on a young female detective in present-day Los Angeles who discovers another world that exists under the surface of this ultra-modern city. Wunderland will be written and executive produced by Playboy Club's Chad Hodge, with McG (Gossip Girl) and Peter Johnson attached as executive producers. The hour-long

On the heels of Fox News Channel's dominant ratings performance at the Republican National Convention, Roger Ailes -- the network's chairman and CEO -- is negotiating a new deal, according to a report in New York Magazine. While Ailes' contract does not expire until next summer, the report says Ailes' lawyer Peter Johnson is in talks with News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch associates about a new contract. Apparently so according to New York magazine’s Gabriel Sherman, who’s writing a book about Fox News and its founder. Although Ailes’ current deal runs to next summer, his lawyer, Peter Johnson — who’s also a Fox News contributor — has begun to negotiate a multi-year deal Sherman says citing “two sources with knowledge of the discussions.” One person said to be “familiar with the talks” claimed that Ailes may want more than $30M a year; this week News Corp reported that Ailes collected $21.1M for the fiscal year ending in June. Ailes could justify the increase by pointing to Fox News’ importance as a cash cow for the company. It will become even more central to News Corp once the media giant spins off its publishing operations. The problem: Rupert Murdoch made $30M and COO Chase Carey made $24.8M last year, and Sherman notes that it’s “hard to see Murdoch paying Ailes more.

The creative minds behind Fox and Friends still seem somewhat vexed by the mission of Occupy Wall Street, at least judging by the back-and-forth between co-host Steve Doocy and Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson, Jr. This morning, Johnson pointed out that the term "occupy" means "conquer, colonize, seize, capture, take, take over." Scary terms to be sure, especially for viewers of the morning show who still haven't heard the mission behind the protest,or who lack a dictionary.

Haunted City #1

Aspen Comics
Release Date: October 12, 2011
Cover Price: $3.50
Paranormal comics usually aren't my bag, but this one seemed different. A crooked cop, a Celtic goddess and children dying. Haunted City #1 brings all that to the story and a bit more. Best of all, not only is it a comic series but it will apparently transition into a feature film, a television show, and a video game.
The story is just getting started, obviously, but Chap Taylor and Peter Johnson spin one hell of an interesting tale. Secret police, female rabbis, drug dealers. A very populated first comic. And that's not even including all the ghosts...it seems New York is an undead haven! The comic actually describes it as "the biggest haunted house in the world." Even the bold...

The Mark Gordon Co. has set up two more projects at ABC: Chap Taylor’s drama Untouchable and an hourlong project based on Candace Bushnell’s book One Fifth Avenue. Both hail from ABC Studios. Described as a stylish, sexy modernization of Miami Vice for the 21st century, Untouchable centers on a hard-charging female FBI agent with a blue-collar background who is teamed with a reckless, independently wealthy Lapd detective to take on organized crime. Changing Lanes writer Taylor is set to pen the script and executive produce with Gordon and The X Files and Castle helmer Rob Bowman, who is attached to direct. Taylor, repped by Wme and Management 360, just delivered the pilot script for his FX drama project about an illegal immigrant-turned-private eye, which drew a lot of attention when first unveiled by Deadline last year; Rodrigo Garcia is attached to direct the potential pilot. The CW announced its 2011-2012 schedule today. Fans of Sarah Michelle Gellar have a lot to be happy about, the lineup includes her new drama Ringer. Gellar stars "as a woman who, after witnessing a murder, goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin sister – only to learn that her sister’s seemingly idyllic life is just as complicated and dangerous as the one she’s trying to leave behind." Other shows include Hart of Dixie, H8R, The Secret Circle, The Frame and Remodeled, along with the CW favorites.
Here is the official press release:

Jason Rothenberg (The Sparrow) has landed the assignment to write The Twilight Zone, a new feature version of the Rod Serling classic '50s TV series that Warner Bros is developing with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way. Details are scant, but the expectation is they will take some of the original stories written for the series by the likes of Serling and Richard Matheson. The deal comes at a time when Rothenberg is adapting for Universal and Imagine Entertainment The Forbin Project, a new version of the 1970 Joseph Sargent-directed scifi tale Colossus: The Forbin Project. Ron Howard is attached to direct and Will Smith is attached to a contemporary Frankenstein story about the world's first sentient computer and the misunderstood genius who gains power over the world because of it. Wme-repped Rothenberg separately sold the pilot True North to Fox with McG and Peter Johnson producing through Warner Bros TV.

Just like buddy sitcoms from the past NBC has cloed a deal on a new one but with a twist, this one has zombies and vampires in it simply called Zombies Vs. Vampires. The buddy cop series will center on two cops, one a zombie and onea vampire living in secret. In this upcoming comedy or ah..ehm... zomedy, zombies live with us in society and are controllable with medication. Sounds awesome to me!
Zombies Vs. Vampires is executive produced by Austin Winsberg, McG and Peter Johnson.
The ink is still wet on this deal, so who's all excited for a show like this?

The buddy comedy has long been a staple of broadcast TV entertainment. Over the years there have been many noteworthy pairing such as "The Odd Couple", "Friends", and "Seinfeld". Never has there been a coupling such as this though ... get ready to get your digital recorders set for "Zombies vs. Vampires".
According to Deadline Hollywood NBC has closed a deal for "Zombies vs. Vampires", a spec script by "Jake in Progress" creator/executive producer Austin Winsberg.
The upcoming show is described as a "fun buddy cop procedural" set in a world where zombies are a part of society, controllable with medication. The show's two leads (one secretly a vampire) are cops assigned to a squad specifically formed to deal with "zombie crime". Winsberg, McG and Peter Johnson are executive producing.

Exclusive: This a title that would certainly score big with the Comic-Con crowd. NBC has closed a deal for Zombies vs. Vampires, a spec script by Jake in Progress creator/executive producer Austin Winsberg. I hear NBC bought preemptively the project, produced by Warner Bros. Another day, another update to the Comic Con schedule. Previously we posted Fox's press release detailing the shows the network would be bringing to Comic Con (July 21-25), as well as details about the various panels. Today, Warner Brothers has announced the timing of its various panels and screenings. It looks like WB will be pushing its new CW show Nikita this year, with a special screening to be held on Wednesday, July 21 (otherwise known as "Preview Night"). I've seen Nikita (more on that in a future review) and the question is whether it's worth your time. Well, I liked the show. A lot, actually. So if you can attend the preview, then I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Meanwhile, we have details about the Fringe, Supernatural, Chuck and Smallville panels below, to name but a few.

Well it didn't take long for the politicization of the failed Times Square terrorist plot to start. Earlier today, Fox News analyst Peter Johnson, Jr. was a guest on America's Newsroom and was not demure in criticizing the government's role in failing to uncover the failed plot. Nevermind that the suspect was apprehended within 53 hours and 20 minutes of planting the bomb (according to NY Police commissioner Ray Kelly), or that nobody was injured. Instead Johnson felt it an appropriate time to criticize our country's anti-terrorism efforts.

The CW has greenlit a TV pilot for a fresh take on "La Femme Nikita", now titled "Nikita", from Warner Bros. TV and McG's Wonderland label. McG and Wonderland's Peter Johnson are executive producers.
The pilot will be directed by Danny "CSI" Cannon.
The first "Nikita" was a 1990 French film by writer/director Luc Besson, following 'Nikita Taylor' (Anne Parillaud), a teenage delinquent and heroin addict who tries to rob a pharmacy, owned by the parents of a fellow junkie. In prison, Nikita is drugged to simulate death, then awakens in a room where a man (Tchéky Karyo) reveals that although officially dead as a 'suicide by overdose', Nikita is actually in the custody of the 'Dgse',...

American actress Kristen Bell suffered a medical scare while filming upcoming comedy "When in Rome" - after she burned her leg in a freak scooter accident. Bell, who stars opposite Josh Duhamel in the movie, scalded her leg while filming on location in Italy.

Fox is opening the door to "The Intruders," a single-camera comedy project from actor-writer Danny Comden.
The project, from Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Wonderland, centers on a wealthy country club father in Arizona who falls in love with a white-trash single mom and blindsides his kids by moving her and her family into their estate, where the debaucherous world of Lake Havasu collides with the manicured lawns of Scottsdale.
"I kept hearing the networks are looking for a family show, and I had a highly comical show staring directly in my face: the family I chose to marry into," Comden said.
The premise is based on Comden's wife's real-life experiences as a child in Arizona; her upper-middle-class dad brought in his white-trash girlfriend and her family to live with them.
"This is an examination of the conflicts and class differences of these two polar-opposite words trying to co-exist under the same roof,...

The network on Friday greenlighted an untitled pilot from the top producer to be directed by frequent Bruckheimer collaborator Danny Cannon.
Friday was a big day for the most prolific producers on TV, with McG and Mark Gordon also landing pilot orders from ABC.
McG is behind the high school musical drama "Limelight," which will be directed by David Semel, while Gordon exec produces the modern-day Romeo and Juliet tale "Empire State."
The Bruckheimer pilot, from Wbtv and Bruckheimer TV, was written by Mark Friedman. It centers on a team of amateur detectives working on cases of unidentified victims.
Friedman, Bruckheimer and Cannon are exec producing with Jonathan Littman.
If the pilot goes to series, it would be Bruckheimer's first scripted show on ABC. The network's previous regime famously passed on "CSI," developed at ABC Studios (then Touchstone) under current ABC Entertainment chief Stephen McPherson.
