Jennifer Lopez felt “very empowered” by her latest role in “The Mother”.
In the upcoming Netflix film, the actress portrays “a deadly female assassin” who will do anything to save her daughter “while on the run from dangerous men,” as per the official synopsis.
For the role, Lopez, 53, took on a great amount of physical training including weapon training and fight training, as well as learning how to ride a motorcycle and a snowmobile.
She told Et Canada’s Morgan Hoffman that taking on the role of the Mother felt “very empowering.”

Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

“Scott, I’ve been watching you for a while now. You’re different. Now, don’t let anyone tell you that you have nothing to offer.” Ant-Man may feature a superhero who can shrink to microscopic sizes, but that unique ability could expand Marvel’s cinematic universe in a big way. Marvel has released the first trailer for Ant-Man, featuring a lot of screen time for Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, while also teasing an impressive supporting cast.
Press Release – “Set for release in the United States on July 17, 2015, the film is directed by Peyton Reed (“Bring it On,” “The Break-Up”) and stars Paul Rudd (“I Love You Man,” “Role Models”) as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, and Michael Douglas (“Behind The Candelabra,” “Wall Street”) as his mentor Dr. Hank Pym and Evangeline Lilly (“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” “Lost”) as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym.

Batman has The Joker. Thor has Loki. Superman has Lex Luthor. Every hero needs a villain, and in Marvel’s upcoming film, Ant-Man, the opposition to the titular microscopic protagonist played by Paul Rudd is fittingly coined Yellowjacket. With fans waiting for the film’s first trailer to debut in the near future, new banner artwork has been unveiled to hold us over, offering the first look at the main antagonist.
As Marvel announced during their Hall H Comic-Con panel, Yellowjacket, aka Darren Cross, will be played by Corey Stoll (The Strain, This Is Where I Leave You, Midnight in Paris). Cross is a a former protégé of Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man, played by Michael Douglas), who takes a dark path after getting his hands on Pym’s shrinking suit technology. You can see Yellowjacket in the banner below, and in case you missed it, we also have the...

Yesterday marked the first day of principal photography for Ant-Man. If I’m to be honest, I’m still a bit bummed that Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish have left the project. I think their take on the Marvel Universe could have been one akin to James Gunn’s approach to Guardians of the Galaxy. Alas, we are still getting an Ant-Man film and the casting is pretty great. We also have a look at Paul Rudd as Scott Lang Aka Ant-Man.

The Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray may ultimately not be quite the powerhouse superfans hope for, largely because the film itself has its missteps that caused more than your average controversy, but it’s still a release that delivers the flash and spectacle that have made the franchise what it is.
You may recall from our Podcast review that this one didn’t quite do it for us, but Iron Man is still Iron Man, and problems aside, the film is still undeniably fun.
Tony Stark isn’t in quite the position he thinks he is at this point, despite a certain paranoia and general distaste for everything following his previous encounters with forces of the non-friendly variety. As much as he works, and whatever he believes he can control, some things aren’t quite on his radar the way they perhaps should be, and a new threat is raising its head.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will explore how stunt artists utilize emerging technologies to bring previously impossible stunts to the screen in “Real to Reel: The Art of Action” on Friday, September 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Using scenes from films including “The Matrix” (1999), “Transformers” (2007), “Alice in Wonderland” (2010), “Real Steel” (2011), “Warrior” (2011), “Skyfall” (2012), “The Master” (2012) and “Iron Man 3″ (2013), “Real to Reel” will illustrate how technology is expanding cinematic possibilities for stunt artists.
Hosted by stunt coordinator Garrett Warren, the night will include live demonstrations, behind-the-scenes footage and conversations with some of the films’ creative teams, who will discuss how scenes were created.
Warren was a martial artist before launching his on-screen career. He has served as stunt coordinator on such features as “Beowulf” (2007), “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” (2009), “Avatar” (2009), “Alice in Wonderland” (2010), “Real Steel” (2011) and “Lincoln” (2012). Marvel have released this fascinating new look into just what went into creating the Air Force One explosion and Iron Man swooping in to rescue them. This behind the scenes featurette shows how originally it was all going to be done on green screen but Stunt Co-Ordinator Jeff Habberstad had other ideas bringing in the Red Bull skydiving team to create the sequence practically.
The featurette shows how they took 8 days to shoot the sequence hiding parachutes underneath the clothes, 62 aeroplane loads, 600 parachute jumps and a lot of filming!
Check out the featurette below. Iron Man 3 is released on DVD and Blu-ray September 9th.

The inaugural Action Fest came to an end last night with an awards ceremony held before a packed house. Picking up the film prizes were Daniel Lee's 14 Blades for Best Fight Scene, Undisputed 3 for both Best Director (Isaac Florentine) and Best Choreography (Larnell Stovall), while Best Film went to Gareth Evans' Merantau. It's worth noting here that Undisputed 3 was not initially on the list of competition films given to the jurors but that all of us, as a group, felt so strongly about the film that we insisted on awarding it anyway.
Following the film awards a series of achievement awards were given to some of the biggest names in the stunt industry. First Marko Zaror (Undisputed 3, Mandrill) was awarded as an emerging star, then lifetime achievement awards were given to Jeff Habberstad, Kinnie Gibson, and Paul Weston. All three were present for the entire festival, all three...
