The Kathy Bates-led reboot of "Matlock" may not hit TV screens for a while longer, but in the meantime, fans of the much-loved legal drama can still catch old episodes of the original run, well, pretty much everywhere. For cable-watchers, the show airs reruns in syndication, while home media junkies can get a DVD box set and those who prefer to stream can catch all nine seasons on Prime Video or PlutoTV.
"Matlock" aired for nine years, moving from NBC to ABC partway through its run and switching up its cast list throughout. Though several actors played more than one character throughout the series' run, only a handful appeared in more than 30 episodes of the series, most of them as Ben Matlock's legal associates. Of the main cast, Andy Griffith, Clarence Gilyard Jr., David Froman, and Richard Newton have all since passed away. Several remaining cast members continue...

Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be a streaming event for the first time on the Netflix YouTube channel. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute.
Among that group will certainly be Oscar winners Louise Fletcher, William Hurt and Irene Cara, plus nominees Angela Lansbury (a SAG life achievement recipient) and Melinda Dillon. Emmy champs Mary Alice, Kirstie Alley, Leslie Jordan, Ray Liotta, Stuart Margolin, Robert Morse and Barbara Walters.

Netflix clearly believes that murder sells.
Despite objections from the families of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims, who claimed the streamer’s latest fictionalisation of the serial killer’s grisly murders in Dahmer – The Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story retraumatised them, Netflix is showing no signs of stopping its true-crime output.
Now, in its newest deep dive, Crime Scene: The Texas Killing Fields, which was released on Tuesday (29 November), the three-part limited series returns to the cold cases of at least 30 young women who were murdered and buried along the same strip of road.
However, while Dahmer’s victims’ families didn’t consent, despite creator Ryan Murphy’s claims he tried to seek it, photojournalist Jessica Dimmock’s documentary is driven instead by a grieving father who has never stopped hunting his daughter’s killer.

Dawn French has joked that she wants to be embalmed and buried in a perspex coffin with the word “slut” written on it.
French appeared on the premiere episode of Kathy Burke’s new podcast, Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake, released on Tuesday (29 November). The podcast sees Burke asking celebrity guests about their imagined deaths and funerals.
The Vicar of Dibley star, 65, opened up about how she would like her corpse to be presented when she dies.
Speaking about the circumstances behind her death, French said she would like to die “Tommy Cooper-style” on stage.
In 1984, Cooper died of a heart attack in front of millions of television viewers during his act on the Royal Variety show.
French then divulged what her dream funeral procession would look like, which includes a see-through “Barbie” hearse.

Geri Horner has angered Northamptonshire villagers after building a new barn that has supposedly interfered with their phone reception.
The former Spice Girl reportedly knocked out mobile reception in order to build a barn to house her 14 horses on her country estate near Brackley.
“The barn has affected mobile phone signals in the village without a doubt,” a letter of objection read, adding: “No notice of planning permission notices ever erected in retrospect or any planning.”
According to Northampton Chronicle & Echo, the 50-year-old pop singer’s neighbours have also complained that her horses are “a menace” to the public and that the “hideous” barn has “re-routed public footpaths”.
Marston St Lawrence villagers have also criticised West Northamptonshire Council for “caving in” to the wealthy for allowing the construction to go ahead despite objections.
“This is not a verbal attack on the rich, this is a breach of fairness to all.

The hopes of “Die Hard” fans were dashed when producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed that the rumored sixth entry in the franchise was canceled.
Simply titled “McClane,” the film would have possibly served as a prequel and a sequel. Bruce Willis previously said that he was willing to return as John McClane when needed.
But during press junkets for “Snake Eyes,” di Bonaventura told Polygon, “Yeah, no, it’s not happening.”
“But what was really interesting was we actually came up with an idea to do it,” he added. “It was a project that wasn’t Die Hard that then, eventually, shifted over to Die Hard.”
“McClane” would have given Len Wiseman, tapped as director of the movie in 2015, the opportunity to work with Willis and a new actor, di Bonaventura said.

Die Hard fans were all a twitter when there was buzz surrounding a mystery tease in regards to the iconic Bruce Willis action pic. His daughter Rumer Willis tweeted the tease as did De’voreaux White, who played limo driver Argyle from the 1988 movie. Turns out that all of the hype was for a different Die Hard — the car battery brand.
The two-minute commercial kept in the spirit of the movie, bringing us on a journey with Willis’s legendary hero John McClane as he sets out to buy a new DieHard battery from an Advance Auto Parts store after his car battery dies.
There are nods to the original movie including John’s wise-ass demeanor, his escape through the air vent, as well as cameos from White as Argyle and Clarence Gilyard Jr. as Die Hard baddie Theo.

Yippee-ki-yay, motherfuckers! Twinkies are back! But the relaunch of a creme-filled snack-cake brand isn't the only reason Vulture is so stoked at the moment. We're also celebrating Die Hard, which walked over the broken glass of our collective imaginations when it arrived in theaters 25 years ago this week. The 1988 action movie provided a watershed genre moment, and in the process, ratcheted up the careers of Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman. But one of Die Hard's best aspects is that it features many memorable performances by lesser-known scene-stealers, such as Robert Davi (badass FBI Special Agent "Big" Johnson), Reginald VelJohnson (level-headed Lapd desk sergeant Al Powell), and Clarence Gilyard Jr. (cocky tech whiz Theo). Vulture asked those and other stand-out Die Hard supporting players to weigh in on the movie a quarter century later. Here are ten insights we took away from those conversations.1. Alan Rickman liked Road House. Dennis...

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (20th Century Fox) Sequel to the seminal 1980s film catches up with a weathered, but still determined Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas, who seems to savor every syllable of Allan Loeb and Stephen Schiff’s screenplay) just out of jail and back on the comeback trail. In attempting to repair his relationship with his estranged daughter (Carey Mulligan), Gekko forges a reluctant alliance with her fiancé (Shia Labeouf), himself an ambitious young turk who finds himself seduced by Gekko’s silver tongue and promise of riches. Lifeless film is further evidence of director Oliver Stone’s decline. Once America’s most exciting filmmaker, Stone hasn’t delivered a film with any teeth since 1995’s Nixon. Labeouf and Mulligan generate no sparks on-screen, and the story feels forced from the protracted opening to the final, Disney-esque denouement. Only a brief cameo by Charlie Sheen,...

Here's an old Paramount Pictures memo that was in the archives of Paramount, or maybe they found it behind a desk while moving offices. The memo was written on April 13th 1987 to the head of Network Television. It gives us a look at the actors who were being considered for certain roles in the series. One of the most interesting names on the list is Wesley Snipes being considered for the role of Georgi! He was actually the frontrunner for the part. Could you imagine!
Check out a transcript of the list below and let us know what you think.

Concord, Nh - The Rad Girls prove that women can be out of control without beating each other senseless. The trio of Ramona Ca$h, Munchie and Darling Clementine are in the midst of their third season of mayhem on MavTV. How could I refuse a chance to talk women who figured out how to give themselves bikini waxes using a car bumper?
Ouch. The trio called the Party Favors hotline from various parts of the Southwest including the lonely highway from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Munchie swore they were just in a convenience store that seemed a location from The House of a 1,000 Corpses. Please excuse me if I attribute a quote to the wrong member since the conversation moved fast and furious.
The outrageous series wasn’t always on MavTV. Clementine explained, “We had a really fun run on Fuse. We got a lot of fans. They were like,...

As a means of generating consumer interest in a few older television series whose DVD sales are probably past their prime, CBS has released a sampler DVD of its more notable action-based entrees. The resulting DVD certainly entertains, but whether it actually succeeds in stirring up the appropriate “must have the entire season” sentiment that CBS hoped for is doubtful. Sure, blending episodes of Mission: Impossible, MacGyver, Walker, Texas Ranger and NCIS will make for an interesting mix – but as a mass consumer of television myself, the episodes chosen may not have been the best choices.
Each of the episodes chosen is the pilot of its respective series but, while interesting to see from a television history perspective, the pilots of a series aren’t always the best choice when you’re trying to snag an audience for DVD purchases.
