Amanda Davies, the daughter of Erica Slezak who played the teenager version of her mom’s character on ABC’s One Life to Live, has died. She was 42.
Davies’ death was revealed on Slezak’s fan page, but it offered no details.
“It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Erika’s daughter Amanda Elizabeth Davies who died very suddenly. The family is heartbroken and would appreciate privacy at this time.”
Davies played young Viki in flashbacks in 2003.
The immensely popular Slezak played Victoria Lord from 1971-2013 on One Life to Live. Slezak is the daughter of Walter Slezak, the Tony-winning Austria-born actor who starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s Lifeboat and, like his granddaughter, made an appearance on One Life To Live.
This just broke my heart. My thoughts are with dear Erika at this time. I know how much she loved her children.

Who was The Pawn on Days of our Lives? That’s a question many fans are asking as a blast from the past keeps popping up on the hit Peacock show.
The Pawn has become one hot topic on Days since Konstantin (John Kapelos) was kidnapped by John (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve (Stephen Nichols).
During that incident, Konstantin saw something in John that reminded him this wasn’t the first time he met the Black Patch duo.
Since then, Konstantin has been dropping not-so-subtle hints to Steve about it, especially as Patch continues to try to force Konstantin away from Maggie (Suzanne Rogers).
Days of our Lives spoilers reveal Marlena (Deidre Hall) is worried about John, and she should be because his The Pawn problem isn’t going away.

Nicholas Chavez, who has been portraying long-time General Hospital character Spencer Cassadine since 2021, will be going on hiatus from the ABC soap opera very, very soon. As reported by TVLine, Chavez’s final episode for a while will air this Wednesday, January 31. However, this isn’t a permanent goodbye but rather a temporary absence while Chavez goes to film a leading role in Ryan Murphy‘s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story. It hasn’t yet been explained how the long-running daytime soap will write Spencer out of the series or if he’ll be replaced by another actor, similar to how Courtney Fulk took over from Eden McCoy as Jossyln Jacks while McCoy was on hiatus. As speculated by Michael Fairman, it’s possible Spencer will follow Trina (Tabyana Ali) to Paris, where she is set to study at the Sorbonne for a semester. This would allow the...

Long-time soap actor Darin Brooks has clarified his status with CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful after recently returning to the show for two episodes. Brooks, who portrays Wyatt Spencer on the daytime soap, revealed last year that he was no longer in contract with the show, telling his fans in an Instagram post, “Doesn’t mean it’s the end. Just… bye, for now.” It certainly wasn’t the end, as Brooks reprised his role as Wyatt last week. However, fans shouldn’t get too used to seeing the character back on their screens. “So far, that’s kind of the extent of it,” Brooks said in a Zoom interview with Michael Fairman. “It is what it is. You know, I’ve been in this business for a long time and know soaps, and I know things change and stories move, and everything just kind of changes sometimes.” Brooks,...

Eden McCoy just won a Daytime Emmy Award for playing Josslyn Jacks on General Hospital, but you won’t see her on the show for a while.
She earned her Emmy award on December 15 and on the episode that aired on December 18, newcomer Courtney Fulk was playing the role of Josslyn.
The replacement is just temporary though.
Keep reading to find out more…
A spokesperson for the show confirmed to Deadline that Eden will return to the show in the new year.
Eden‘s absence from the show is seemingly due to the death of her mother in early November.
“Since Gh is said to tape around six weeks ahead of air, McCoy’s departure would make sense during that time frame,” soap opera reporter Michael Fairman wrote.

General Hospital fans who watched Eden McCoy take home the Emmy Dec. 15 for Outstanding Younger Performer got quite the jolt Monday when they tuned back into the ABC daytime sudser; McCoy was Mia as character Josslyn Jacks and someone else was appearing in her place.
Turns out it is actress Courtney Fulk filling in for McCoy — a surprise development since Gh didn’t give viewers a heads up that a temporary change was in the works.
But rest assured, followers of Port Charles: a spokesperson for the show says McCoy is on a brief sabbatical and will return at the beginning of the new year.
McCoy’s absence may have something to do with the passing of her mother in early November; Michael Fairman reported that “since Gh is said to tape around six weeks ahead of air, McCoy’s departure would make sense during that time frame.”

Having taken the world by storm with "Saw" in 2004, Australian director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell were suddenly the hottest new act in horror. Unfortunately, three years later, the duo would suffer the dreaded "sophomore slump" with "Dead Silence," an original puppet horror film that was lambasted by critics and bombed at the box office, barely matching its $20 million budget. It's a shame, honestly. I won't deny that "Dead Silence" has its problems (which we will get into), but it's also an enthrallingly gothic tale of mystery and the macabre (one bursting with creative ideas and inventively ghastly visuals). Not to mention it functions as a useful primer for the rest of Wan and Whannell's horror oeuvre.
"Dead Silence" starts out pretty nasty and only gets meaner the further along it goes. Upon being anonymously gifted with a ventriloquist doll named Billy (think Slappy from "Goosebumps" only somehow even...

Soap opera star Billy Miller, who was best known for his portrayal of Billy Abbott on “The Young and the Restless” and both Jason Morgan and Drew Cain on “General Hospital,” has died at the age of 43. His death was confirmed by soap opera journalist Michael Fairman.
A cause of death has not been released, but Miller’s management released a statement noting, “The actor was struggling with manic depression when he died.” Miller died on Friday — Sunday was set to be his 44th birthday.
The actor joined daytime TV in 2007, briefly playing Richie Novak on “All My Children,” before moving on to “The Young and the Restless.” Despite being the fourth actor to try his hand at Billy Abbott, Miller dove headfirst into the role and ultimately won three Daytime Emmys between 2008 and 2014.
Soap operas played a major role in Miller’s life long before he was cast in one.

"Firefly" premiered on Fox in 2002 and soared for 11 glorious episodes before crashing and burning due to network meddling and gross ineptitude. Three unaired episodes were included on the subsequent DVD release, bringing the final episode tally to 14. The series was briefly resurrected with the 2005 film "Serenity," which concluded the narrative in a satisfying enough fashion. For diehard Browncoats — the moniker super fans have given themselves — the series has an outsized hold on our hearts despite its criminally shortened lifespan. As the theme song says: "You can't take the sky from me (us)."

James Wan and Leigh Whannell shaped an entire horror movement with their rise to fame "Saw," and have since become contemporary mainstays both with collaborative and separate successes. Whannell has famously gone on to reveal his displeasure with how the studio machine treated "Dead Silence" (in a now-deleted personal blog entry), seemingly leaving a sour taste in everyone's mouth. Anne Heche was truly respected within the daytime soap opera world going back decades to her landmark — and Emmy-winning — performance as good-and-evil twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on NBC’s defunct “Another World.” Above is a step back in time for a look at the late actress’ star-making performances.
From 1987-1991, Heche wowed viewers with her nuanced portrayals, even frequently acting opposite herself in scenes. Marley was the good girl; Victoria the bad seed. A soap opera cliché? Yeah. But Heche, who was just a teen back then, gave them such distinctive yet genuinely believable emotions that it was very quickly obvious that she had what it took to go the distance in the difficult industry she had chosen.
In a 2018 appearance on Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show, Heche said that she auditioned twice for “Another World” and wasn’t told until later why.

Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of ‘Dynasty’ during Emma Samms virtual event to help raise funds for Long-Covid research. Michael was working on a book about his life and addiction at the time of his death. He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever.”

It has been almost three decades since Eva Larue made a name for herself in daytime as Dr. Maria Santos on “All My Children.” But this year she could win her very first Daytime Emmy for a different role: Celeste Rosales on “The Young and the Restless.” She’s nominated for Best Guest Performer for her stint on the CBS soap. Do you think she’s due to take home the gold?
Larue played Maria on “AMC” off and on between 1993 and 2011 and earned two Emmy nominations: Best Supporting Actress in 1997 (she lost to Michelle Staffford for “Y&r”) and then Best Original Song in 2004 for co-writing “Dance Again with You” for “AMC.” But those were her only bids before now.

Susan Seaforth Hayes is one of the longest-serving actors in “Days of Our Lives” history with six Daytime Emmy nominations spanning an extraordinary 52 years on the NBC serial as Julie Olson Williams. This year she’s up for Best Supporting Actress for her performance, and she could achieve something the late, great Jeanne Cooper previously pulled off: winning a competitive acting Emmy after receiving her Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Days of Our Lives” fans were shocked earlier this year when they learned that Chandler Massey and his on-screen love interest Freddie Smith had been fired from the NBC soap. But when the 2020 Daytime Emmy nominations were announced, Massey found himself with a nom for Best Supporting Actor, and he discussed that nomination in a recent interview with soap journalist Michael Fairman.

“I went with some scenes that aired on December 16th of last year,” Massey told Fairman about the Emmy reel that earned him his nomination. Those are scenes “where Will basically breaks up with Sonny when Sonny comes to visit him in prison. I liked those because they were sort of subtle. I just found myself drawn in when I watched it, and it wasn’t big or dramatic, but it felt like two real people sharing their pain.

“I really tried to tell a story. I really tried to show an arc of that 8-9-month saga, and luckily, I had the material to choose from to do so,” said “The Bold and the Beautiful” actress Annika Noelle in a recent interview with Michael Fairman about the scenes she submitted for her Daytime Emmy reel. That reel, which tracks the trauma and shock her character Hope experienced during a baby switch storyline, earned her her first nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Could it make her a winner too?
“I submitted as the initial scene when Hope finds out [that her baby daughter Beth died],” Noelle explained. “Then, the second scene I submitted was where she is kind of emotionally checked out, and then, Sally [played by Courtney Hope] comes in with that poor puppy dog to try to cheer her up … The third scene was on the rooftop where Hope finally finds out that Beth is indeed alive,...

Hollywood recently lost the great comedian Fred Willard, who died on May 15 at age 86. He was loved for his comedic work in the films of Christopher Guest and on shows like “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Modern Family” and the upcoming “Space Force.” But the one Emmy he received during his life was actually for a drama — the daytime drama “The Bold and the Beautiful” to be exact. Take a look back at his backstage interview with Michael Fairman above.

Roger Howarth has been at the center of a mind-mapping identity switch storyline on “General Hospital,” which has taken his character Franco and overwritten his identity with the memories of Drew Cain (played by the soon-to-depart Billy Miller). The actor recently talked to Michael Fairman about the admittedly “high-concept” storyline and what it means for Franco/Drew and everyone around him in Port Charles.
“I think the other beautiful part of this is that this was motivated by love. I don’t see it as heroic,” explains Howarth about Franco’s decision to sacrifice himself so that the mind-mapping procedure wouldn’t be performed on his stepson Cameron (William Lipton). “I think as an actor, you’re always looking for the heart of the story, and the writers made it really simple. He does this because he loves this kid. Yeah, they’ve had their ups and downs … but push actually did come to shove,...

“I think Adam tried to clear the air … and say [to Chloe], ‘Look, if we keep this up, one of us is going to end up dead.’ So, we’ll see if she can move on. I don’t know… Adam has got to keep watching his back,” Mark Grossman told Michael Fairman in a recent interview about Grossman’s arrival on “The Young and the Restless” as a recast Adam Newman. There’s so much bad blood between Adam and the rest of Genoa City that he got shot not long after he came back from the dead.
Before Grossman took over the role, Adam was last seen on the show when Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) blew up a cabin with him inside, and he was presumed dead. The trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was reportedly leaked on the internet, in poor quality, resulting in Marvel Studios releasing the official version early. It was originally scheduled to debut with Marvel's Agents of Shield, which would have been obvious brand synergy, as well as casting a spotlight on the awesomeness of that show. (Bad Rising Tide! Pop culture reference, sorry.)
But the official trailer is here now, and it's stunning in its melancholy beauty. This is somewhat atypical for a superhero blockbuster, though increasingly common in recent years (c.f. Iron Man 3, The Dark Knight trilogy). With the trailer for The Avengers, director Joss Whedon seemed to be taking after the epitome of blockbuster bombast, Michael Bay (Transformers); whereas with the trailer for the follow-up, Avengers: Age of Ultron, he seems to be taking after the master of visual and emotional film-making poetry, Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers...

When Jeanne Cooper -- matriarch of "The Young And The Restless" for nearly 40 years -- passed away in May, fans of her character Kay Chancellor wondered how the daytime soap would manage to give her a proper sendoff.
Today, Friday, August 16, marks the beginning of CBS' multi-episode tribute that will culminate in Kay's loved ones finding out that she passed away while on a trip with her husband Murphy (Michael Fairman). The actual memorial episodes and news of Kay's death won't air until September 3 and 4, CBS confirmed to The Huffington Post.
“In the coming weeks, Kay’s memory will be honored in several very special ways that allow us to pay tribute to Jeanne in the remarkable manner she deserves,” "Young And The Restless" executive producer Jill Farren Phelps said in a statement. “It is an extraordinary story that will bring the residents of Genoa City together to remember this woman they all loved.

Even with all the upsets at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards, Dan Kroll (Soap Central) got half of the 20 categories he predicted correct. Three-time champ "The Bold and the Beautiful" was snubbed in the Drama Series race at last year's Daytime Emmys. However, four of our experts -- Michael Fairman (Michael Fairman Soaps), Roger Newcomb (We Love Soaps) and Gold Derby's Tom O'Neil and Paul Sheehan -- are predicting it to prevail this year with its seventh bid. Another expert -- Nelson Branco (Soap Opera Uncensored) -- forecasts victory for "One Life to Live" -- axed by ABC last year but back online now -- to win a bookend to its 2002 prize. I wondered how long it would take for it to be revealed that Aidan had broken hospital rules by secretly performing Andrew’s blood tests. This was this past week it finally happened. And, while it’s an interesting story, I’m not happy about how it played out.
First of all, since Georgia clearly had no intention of not turning Aidan in, or at least gave it very little thought before she did. She could have at least warned Aidan that the hammer was about to fall so he wasn’t blindsided. I suppose she did the right thing because he did violate hospital policy, but as far as I’m concerned, Georgia can save the half-hearted apologies.
