Former Rgm Entertainment CEO Devesh Chetty has been jailed on three charges of forgery, including two related to investments by Singapore’s Media Development Authority.
Chetty, an Australian citizen and Singapore resident, was sentenced by the Singapore courts to 22 weeks in prison for covering up three tranches of missing funds amounting to $12.5m ($S17m).
Local media reported that, in 2011, the Mda had asked Chetty to account for two investments amounting to $11m ($S15m) that were advanced to him in 2010 and 2011. Chetty then forged two bank statements by altering the dates to make it appear that the money was still in Rgm’s account.

Apparently the first look at the upcoming Point Break remake from director Ericson Core was shown during CinemaCon down in Las Vegas yesterday and with that comes the first looks at Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez in the film playing FBI agent Johnny Utah and extreme sports enthusiast and criminal Bodhi respectively. The duo are playing roles made popular by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 film, and for many this remake is completely unnecessary, but it's set to arrive on December 25 nonetheless. One week after Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, which is to say... we'll see how this turns out. This updated version will follow a similar premise as the first as a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a string...

For the second consecutive year, Warner Bros. Pictures International has exceeded the coveted $3 billion mark at the international box office. This benchmark comes on the heels of the release of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, which surpassed $400 million at the international box office this weekend and is still going strong.
Nine Warner Bros. Pictures films have exceeded $100 million internationally, topped by Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (with Paramount Pictures), which has taken in an astounding $467 million outside of the U.S. to date, and Godzilla (with Legendary Pictures), which has earned $327 million overseas.
Four titles – Doug Liman’s Edge Of Tomorrow (with Village Roadshow Pictures), Phil Lord & Christopher Miller’s The Lego Movie (also with Village Roadshow Pictures), and Noam Murro and Zack Snyder’s 300: Rise Of An Empire (with Legendary), along with the 2014 spillover grosses from The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug...

Struggling production and talent company One North Entertainment has been suspended from the Australian Securities Exchange after failing to lodge its full year financial accounts.
The company, which was formerly known as Rgm Media, is one of just four to have breached the Asx's listing rules in the current reporting period. Listed companies are required to lodge their accounts within 60 days of the December 31 year end.
One North also breached the Asx's listing rules twice last year when directors failed to adequately declare that an entity they controlled disposed of shares in the company.
The company floated on the Asx in mid-2010 but its grand plans to become a production house have floundered and it narrowly avoided closing in late-2011 after announcing a convertible bond issue. An independent expert said the terms of the deal were not fair for existing shareholders but the company had little choice.

Alcon Entertainment are remaking the high-octane thriller Point Break, Variety reports.
On Monday Alcon co-founders Broderick Johnson announced that they had secured rights to the new film from Rgm Media, John McMurrick and Chris Taylor.
The original film, starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves, is being given an overhaul with a fresh cast and, like the 1991 film, a storyline surrounding extreme sports.
"The new version is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring," Alcon said.
Rgm Media principal Devesh Chetty, chairman of Marloss Entertainment, and investor John McMurrick are set to executive produce the film which is still in very early stages.
The news of a modern-day remake comes just as Warner Bros. have released the original, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, on Blu-ray.
Stay tuned for further updates.

Alcon Entertainment has secured the rights to produce a reboot of 1991 action thriller Point Break from rights holder Rgm Media – an Asx-listed Pan Asian media and entertainment company with operations in Australia, Singapore and the States.
Rgm Media’s Devesh Chetty and investor John McMurrick will serve as Executive Producers while Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will produce with Michael DeLuca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Law Abiding Citizen and the expected reboot of Total Recall) who wrote the screenplay.
“Securing this deal with Alcon is really great news for us.” said Devesh Chetty. “The combination of Alcon, Warner Bros and the first-class producers delivers the opportunity for this exhilarating story to be told and seen worldwide.”
The new version will be set in the world of extreme sports, as opposed to solely surfing, with an FBI agent going undercover to catch a gang.

After hearing about this in late July, the official announcement of a Point Break remake comes as no surprise to me. Alcon Entertainment will be financing the update, and Warner Bros. — who distributed the first one — will be putting this out. Previous reports of Kurt Wimmer being involved on a scripting level were accurate, with the press release mentioning him as the screenwriter. And although it claims that story elements “have not been revealed by the filmmakers,” we heard that this will replace sky diving with skiing. Extreme, brah.
A director is being sought at the moment, but I don’t expect them to get a “name” guy on this, at least if the script isn’t any good. Still, Alcon founders and CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove sound confident, claiming that this will take the essence of the first movie — “a Zen meditation on testosterone fueled action and...

The 1991 classic Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze action film Point Break is officially going to get a remake. That's right, Alcon Entertainment will be producing and financing the film and bringing it to life for Warner Bros. Earlier this summer it was rumored that Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, Salt, Total Recall remake) would write the script for the film, and that has been confirmed today.
According to the press release, the new version of the film is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminalring.
I just couldn't help but roll my eyes at this news, this is one of those movies that is on my list of films that don't have to be remade. But, it's going to happen, so I guess the only thing we can hope for at this point is that it will be a entertaining action-packed film.

Here we go again people! It’s Hollywood yet again admitting defeat when it comes to original ideas as we hear news that Alcon is to remake 1991 movie Point Break directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. I guess there is no way you can go wrong with an FBI agent who goes undercover as a surfer dude to trap a gang of gangsters who dress up as former presidents can you?! I guess Alcon don’t think so.
According to the news, ‘the new version is is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminalring, but plot points beyond that have not been revealed by the filmmakers.’
What do we think, shall we boycott it?! I guess more info as we get it but in the meantime, here’s the press release from Deadline:

Los Angeles Film Festival
Rowan Woods' "Winged Creatures" is earnest as all get-out, but the underlying artistic purpose of the dirge-like melodrama is terribly muddled. A nut job shoots up a Los Angeles-area coffee shop, killing himself once he feels he has accomplished his purpose, and the survivors are left to cope with their feelings of fear, bereavement and guilt. It's not a new theme, nor does writer Roy Freirich bring anything new to the table. The 94-minute film has the look and feel of a television drama but without the heat and intelligence the best TV movies possess.
Lots of luck to Sony in trying to figure out how to market a film that has no easily identifiable audience. Sony Worldwide Releasing has domestic rights to the film, though the company has not yet determined which of its units will release the film, nor when it will be released. The best thing to do with the film, which was a surprise premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival, is to let it ride the festival circuit, then get it quickly into home entertainment, where an unusually high quotient of name actors will attract viewers.
As with all ensemble pieces, the film jumps episodically among the various story lines. However, few of these subplots by themselves make much sense. That shellshocked characters act irrationally is understandable. But the story lines shouldn't lack rationality. Plus, many characters seem to have what insurance companies like to call pre-existing conditions.
Forest Whitaker's character, apparently recovered from a gambling addiction, reverts to form following his near brush with death. Oh, by the way, the filmmakers give him cancer, too, which presumably underscores his turn into self-destructiveness.
Guy Pearce's doctor, who left the cafe moments before the slaughter, starts slipping his unsuspecting wife increasingly dangerous drugs to counter her chronic headaches. Dakota Fanning's little girl turns into a born-again Christian, who extols the bravery of her dad, who died at the scene.
Kate Beckinsale's single-mom waitress suddenly hungers after male companionship, eyeing virtually every man she sees, including the married doctor. Meanwhile, she obsesses about the fact her cell phone failed her during the rampage.
None of these subplots really adds up to much. Nor do the continual flashbacks to the crime scene -- as characters fixate on and recall the event -- shed any revelatory light on the incident or the characters' reactions.
The characters remain remote, out of touch, not only from family and friends but from viewers. You never see why the killings provoke these particular oddball quirks. The problem is that the film has little if any backstory for its people: You can't imagine what any of these people were like before the tragic incident.
The movie thoroughly wastes those playing family members and friends, including Jennifer Hudson, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Embeth Davidtz. Tech credits are satisfactory, though unexceptional, because visual artistry is certainly not Woods' strong suit.
Production: Artina Production in association with Peace Arch Entertainment and RGM Entertainment. Cast: Kate Beckinsale, Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce, Forest Whitaker, Embeth Davidtz, Troy Garity, Jackie Earle Haley, Jennifer Hudson, Josh Hutcherson, Jeanne Tripplehorn. Director: Rowan Woods. Screenwriter: Roy Freirich. Producers: John J. Kelly, Robert Salerno. Executive Producers: Naomi Despres, Devesh Chetty, Robyn Gardiner, John Flock, Lewin Webb, Gilbert Alloul. Director of Photography: Eric Alan Edwards. Production designer: Max Biscoe. Music: Marcelo Zarvos. Costume Designer: Mary Claire Hannan. Editor: Meg Reticker. Rated R, 94 minutes.
