Need to catch up? Check out the previous Outlander recap here.
Ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Claire Randall has left the country.
In this week’s episode, Outlander‘s protagonist sadly decides that she can’t spend any more time searching historical records for one James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, then packs up her regret, her massive cloud of ’60s hair and her daughter and hightails it back to America. (I’ll go into more detail later, but seriously, that more than sums up up Claire’s portion of the hour.)
Meanwhile, Jamie’s half of the episode spans eight years and includes accidental pregnancy,...

Dear god, can’t someone give Michael Jai White a break? The star of the underrated Spawn, the fantastic blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite, and the man behind supervillain Bronze Tiger in season 2 of Arrow, has been toiling away in Dtv action movie purgatory for some time now. For every decent action movie he makes – like Never Back Down 2 and Undisputed 2; he also has to appear in ill-judged films like Falcon Rising and this, Deadly Target.
Originally titled Chain of Command (no doubt renamed to stop any confusion with the hundred or so other movies with that moniker), Deadly Target sees White star as Special Operative James Webster who returns home after a tour of duty, only to...

There’s no denying the cultural magnitude of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 grindhouse classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Inspiring legions of seminal directors, as well as providing the framework for a growing horde of derivative copycats (not to mention a gaggle of flaccid sequels, prequels, and rehashes), it’s now reached its 40th year anniversary. Necessitating a half-year transfer process, the brand new 4k transfer was showcased at genre fests such as 2014′s SXSW & Fantasia Film Fests and a prestige re-showing at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight. Though decades of horror films have refurbished Hooper’s methods to such a degree that the more infamous episodes of violence may seem less horrific by today’s torture porn standards, the film has lost none of its ambient potency. In all the glorious reconstitutions, no one has been able to outdo the gritty, grainy, and bizarre levels of unease accomplished here.
By now, we all know the well-tread story.

For the week of September 16th, horror and sci-fi fans have a multitude of new and familiar title releases to choose from- everything from new indie horror movies to classic films getting an HD overhaul to a handful of TV series making their Blu-ray and DVD debuts.
To get everyone ready for the upcoming Fall TV season, this week sees the home debuts of the most recent seasons of Grimm, Hannibal, Arrow, Sleepy Hollow and From Dusk Till Dawn and classic horror fans should be happy to see HD releases for a few favorites as well, like Dark Sky Film’s 40th anniversary edition of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Eraserhead from Criterion, Anchor Bay’s 30th anniversary edition Blu-ray of Silent Night, Deadly Night and Sony’s special edition gift set for Ghostbusters/Ghostbusters II, which also contains an awesome Slimer collectible that would be a great addition to any fans’ collection.

Pixar’s The Incredibles was absolute perfection. I couldn’t be happier that director Brad Bird is working on the story for the sequel. As light and fun as the movie was, it had some dark and intense moments — small children were in perilous situations half the movie and a whole lotta superheroes were killed. Bobby Burns took those darker scenes and laid Syndrome’s more menacing speeches over them in this fake trailer that imagines The Incredibles as a Christopher Nolan film. He even cuts it to Hans Zimmer’s music from the Dark Knight trilogy to great effect.
This trailer features a lot of Syndrome. If they ever decide to do a live action film about the superhero family (I hope they don't), Tj Miller would make for the perfect Syndrome. He sounds enough like Jason Lee (the voice of Syndrome for the animated film) and looks just like the character.

As Sally Hardesty’s strength diminished with Hitchhiker and Leatherface hot on her heels, the Black Maria cattle truck came to her aid near the end of Tobe Hooper’s classic 1974 horror film, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. We all knew that there would be a new Blu-ray release of Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre back when they started screening a new 4K scan of the film in theaters, so when it went up on Amazon as a pre-order, it came as no surprise. However, shortly thereafter, something appeared on Amazon that intrigued fans, and came with absolutely no explanation. It was called the Black Maria Limited Edition, and cost $70.00. Now, a lot of us have already pre-ordered Scream Factory’s $80.00 Nightbreed set, so that kind of price for a single movie isn’t exactly unprecedented, but up until that point, not a single thing had been announced in regards to this set, so it has remained a mystery until today. A press release was sent out, detailing all of the specifics of all of the various releases, including a description, and photo of the contents of the mysterious Limited Edition.

YouTube user Bobby Burns is on a roll creating cool video content. His latest creation reimagines Pixar's Toy Story as a horror film and portrays its star Woody as a crazy jealous psycho killer. I love Toy Story, but it definitely contains elements that can easily be twisted into a horror thriller. The fact that the story revolves around living soulless-eyed dolls is freakin' terrifying! Over the course of his career as a writer-director, Quentin Tarantino has made a name for himself, with many of his movies receiving critical and commercial praise. One such set of films are Kill Bill Vol 1 and Kill Bill Vol 2, both of which have been praised for, among others, their fight sequences that sees Uma Thurman square off against adversaries such as Lucy Liu and Vivica A. Fox. Youtube user Bobby Burns has now re-enacted the latter fight, with children and his own set of props as a stand-in for the performers and weapons. The end result can be seen below, as well as side-by-side with Tarantino’s original scene.

With the release of a spoof Toy Story horror trailer, we take a look at some of the scariest and creepiest moments in children's cinema
Toy Story, that much loved children's film, is unarguably a little unsettling mostly thanks to scenes involving Sid, the kid next door, and, of course, Babyface the hybrid toy consisting of a doll's eyeless head attached to mechanical spider legs. YouTuber Bobby Burns has taken the film's macabre elements to their logical conclusion, creating this brilliant spoof trailer re-imagining Toy Story as a horror film.

Warning. If you love Toy Story - and who doesn't love Toy Story? - take extra care before watching this new viral video.
YouTuber Bobby Burns has turned the Pixar classic into a spine-chilling horror that switches loveable Woody into a dead-eyed, terrifying monster. We're not sure we'll ever be able to watch the Pixar classic in the same way again.
Andy's bedroom just became one of the scariest places in movie history.
And why had we never noticed how scary Woody's eyes were before?
Bobby Burns did a similar editing trick with Disney's modern classic Frozen earlier this year.
'Do You Want to Build a Snowman?' went from sweet children's musical hit to creepy sinister threat in one short YouTube video.
We really love these videos from Bobby, but we also kind of wish he'd stop turning our favourite films into the stuff of nightmares.

There have been many horror films called Frozen over the year's, including Adam Green's survival horror tale, but the most horrific of all is without question the latest animated film of that name. Lord knows its music and cuteness are poison to our psyches!
But what if... What if Frozen was a horror movie? Thanks to the magic of the Internet, you're about to see a very interesting take on a very popular movie.
If the flick was actually in line with this faux trailer, we'd have been in line waiting for it! Now all we can do is wish!
Kudos to YouTuber Bobby Burns for a scary job well done.

One should never condone violence in kids but damn if this isn't entertaining. Perhaps the Romans were on to something with this whole 'fight to the death for our amusement' thing. Filmed by Bobby Burns, asking anyone to recreate a action heavy Tarantino sequence would be no small feat, but these girls can't be out of elementary school. The choreography is visceral and on point. By the end you'll find yourself internally rooting for the mini-Bride with thoughts like, 'Kick her ass!' and 'Feint with the cardboard knife then smash her with the cardboard frying pan!'...

These little girls get crazy insane in a re-enactment of the ridiculously brutal Copperhead fight scene from Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1. The video comes from YouTube user Bobby Burns, and the two kids do such a great job kicking each other's asses. I know that's weird to say, but it's true! Just wait until you watch the video for yourself. Don't worry, though, all of the weapon props were made out of cardboard. Hopefully no one involved got a cardboard paper cut. Those things suck. ...

Jj Abrams was the smart and obvious pick to direct Star Wars VII.
However, after watching this video we're secretly hoping that Quentin Tarantino signs up for the sequel.
Created by YouTuber Bobby Burns, the trailer imagines how the original movies in the sci-fi franchise might have looked if Tarantino has been behind the camera.
The suggested casting includes Samuel L Jackson as Darth Vader and Steve Buscemi as Luke Skywalker. Best. Casting. Ever.
We're guessing the blood-splattering and F-bombs have been left out to make the video suitable for all.
Bobby Burns is also the young gentleman who brought the world the Frozen As A Horror Movie trailer. If you haven't seen that yet, it's well worth watching.

Obi-Wan's dead, baby. Obi-Wan's dead. YouTuber Bobby Burns cut together a faux-trailer that re-imagines Star Wars: A New Hope in the hands of Quentin Tarantino. Cue the obscure 1960s garage rock. He's basically assembled every incidence of violence in the first Star Wars movie, cut it together with some vintage tunes and added Tarantino-style credits. "Do you wanna build a snowman?" has never sounded so creepy. YouTube user Bobby Burns has done the impossible (or at least the unlikely): He took clips from Disney's "Frozen" and edited them together to make it look like a horror movie. You'd be surprised at how much difference some filters and a change in soundtrack makes! The recut trailer has a very "Carrie"-like vibe to it, painting Elsa as an outcast who, rather than going off to live on her own so she doesn't endanger anyone, pretty much does the opposite and starts attacking people....Read more...

Those Kookie Chrisleys are back tonight on USA for an all new episode of Chrisley Knows Best titled, “Date Night.” The kids want to do something nice for mom Julie and dad Todd by treating them to a day of pampering and a romantic dinner. Robert Burns once wrote, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray,” but this is reality TV, so it is a guarantee that nothing will go as planned. And yet I’m foreshadowing that everything that happens in this beautiful disaster will be complete with a southern drawl, comical results and witty zingers. … Continue reading →

Swashbuckling screenwriter behind Rob Roy, Ulzana's Raid and Night Moves
Alan Sharp, who has died of brain cancer aged 79, once claimed that as a screenwriter he was most interested in "moral ambiguity, mixed motives and irony", all of which are applicable to two of his best movies, the western Ulzana's Raid (1972), directed by Robert Aldrich, and the thriller Night Moves (1975), directed by Arthur Penn. Most of his screenplays were written in the 1970s and reflect the era in which America was suffering the effects of the Vietnam war and post-Watergate paranoia. This goes some way to explaining the bleakness and cynical sense of destiny in Sharp's films, which he called "existential melodramas".
He was born in Alyth, near Dundee. Although the majority of his scripts were set in the Us, where he lived for many years, Scotland remained pre-eminent in his character and culture. His script for Rob Roy (1995), a...

Brave is the second Pixar movie to take a bit of heat from critics and audiences, coming in at 70% fresh from Top Critics at Rottentomatoes.com, a number we would have thought we’d never see connected to Pixar only a few years ago.
I have my suspicions that there is a strange, cultural backlash against Pixar‘s popularity, and though Cars 2 took the brunt of the blow, some residual force was left over for Brave.
The quirky story of a Scottish princess, who wants little more than to throw off tradition and be her own person, Brave is deceptively broad in its scope, with not only fine enough turns at young angst and familial relationships, but also throws in clever nods at cultural forces and the universal upheaval that surrounds all human interaction.
For more on the film itself, which deserves to be near the top of Pixar‘s works,...

-- "Lincoln's Battle with God: A President's Struggle with Faith and What it Meant for America" (Thomas Nelson), by Stephen Mansfield
He has previously explored the faith of Barack Obama and George W. Bush, and now author Stephen Mansfield takes on the complex and fascinating religious life of Abraham Lincoln, who went from fiery atheism in youth to such deep conviction later that his second inaugural address could be called a kind of sermon to the nation.
Textbooks often freeze and simplify Lincoln's religion, making him merely a "skeptic, ever religiously uncertain," Mansfield writes in "Lincoln's Battle with God." "The truth is that Lincoln was, in fact, a religious pilgrim."
There's no end to books parsing the 16th president, of course, and even Lincoln's faith has had many thoughtful explorations. The value of Mansfield's study is its sharp focus, its detail about those who influenced Lincoln and the author's willingness...

Disney • Pixar’s Brave was one of the biggest animated films at the box office this year and even though we felt it was well short of what we expected out of a Pixar film, the film was still a satisfactory escape for those who’ve enjoyed Disney films in recent years, made outside of the Pixar studio that is. We were looking for a coming of age journey of a princess and we instead saw the multi-layered relationships within one royal family–in particular between a mother and daughter– as well as the traditions, both old and new that kept it strong. The Blu-ray and DVD release on November 13 may help make up for the film because there’s a lot on it to keep the kids (of age and of heart) busy. And for anyone who loves the craft of animation knows that these Pixar releases are must-own study/inspiration tools.

America, a whole lot more "bleeps" and "chainsaws" are coming your way!
After a monumental showing at Ultra Music Festival, Dutch electronic dance music star Afrojack, who headlines Coachella (again!) this weekend, will soon embark on one of the most ambitious undertakings of his career. He’ll be presenting his widely successful "Jacked" party at over 30 dates on a headlining tour of North America beginning in May.
Along for the ride will be much of his Afro-fam: buddies Quintino, Bobby Burns, R3hab and Shermonology (at select dates).
With smash radio hits in "Give Me Everything," "Look at Me Now" and his solo effort "Take Over Control," Afrojack (born Nick van de Wall) is easily one of dance music's most sought after performers, and he'll soon be bringing the ruckus to major Us cities, including Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlantic City, Boston and Miami, and making major festivals...

The Livonia teen who police say brutally attacked and killed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, her mom and then himself left a series of haunting messages on his Facebook page in the weeks leading up to the massacre.
Brian Douglas White, 19, entered the home of his 17-year-old ex wielding an axe on Wednesday and killed the girl's mother, Angela Staperfene and the girl's current boyfriend, 19-year-old Jacob Burns, while they slept, according to Fox affiliate Wjbk-tv.
The station obtained disturbing messages that White left on his Facebook page in the weeks before, including apparent references to the gory thriller "American Psycho" and lyrics by the bands Gotye and Blue October.
"You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness," White wrote on his page, which has since been taken down.

"Wow!" That’s the simplest and best way to sum up the Kings of Ace Pool Party at the National Hotel.
The party delivered on everything you would expect from a trip to Miami Music Week – beautiful weather, beautiful people and big beats combined with a cornucopia of celebrities, DJs and Edm fanatics.
Where do I start? The scheduled acts included the marvelous Nervo sisters, Bassjackers, Quintino, Bobby Burns and Sidney Samson, who brought King of Krunk Lil’ Jon with him to perform their remix of “Mutate.” The party rose to a frenzy when Ultra Fest main stager Afrojack smashed the stage with his Wall Recording’s label-mates, Shermanology, for an energizing rendition of “Can’t Stop Me.” He later shared the stage with R3hab, firing up the crowd with favorites like “Prutataa” and “Sending My Love.”

The title, a misquotation from the most famous line of Robert Burns's poem "To a Mouse", directs us to John Steinbeck's novella, and indeed this modest movie is an urban reworking of Of Mice and Men in present day Nottingham. The kind-hearted mentally handicapped Lennie (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) becomes the gentle black giant Joseph. His devoted protector George (Stephen Graham) is turned into Danny, a petty Scouse crook, who's forced to hire out his friend as a bare-knuckle boxer to local gang boss (David O'Hara) to settle a debt. The film is a cut above recent British low-life crime pictures and finds suitable girlfriends for both men while ignoring the third of Nelson Algren's rules for life – never sleep with a woman whose problems are worse than your own.

An unreleased Michael Jackson album has reportedly been donated to a museum by David Gest. The album is said to be based around the works of Scottish poet Robert Burns. Former I'm a Celebrity star Gest first revealed the existence of the album four years ago, but had not released it until recently. The collection of show tunes was intended for a musical project to be directed by Gene Kelly and produced by Anthony Perkins, but the movie was scrapped when both actors had passed away. Gest explained that he has now donated the album to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Ayrshire. He told BBC Alba: "We went to his recording studio at the [Jackson] family (more)...

Now, you could hit up that house party in town and hope the girl you've been eying runs up to you for a smooch when the big hand is on the little hand at midnight, or you can be smart and knock her socks off by taking her to one of the hottest parties in the country. What do you have to lose? After all, if the Mayans are right, it'll be your last Nye on earth anyway. So saddle up, take a stand against "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve" and...

Robert Burns said in his "On Seeing One on a Lady's Bonnet at Church," "O wad some Power the giftie gie us/ To see oursels as ithers see us!" Translated from the Scottish, it would be a fine thing if we could step outside ourselves and watch as we make our way through life. We probably would not believe that these "strangers" are really ourselves. We would find faults that we never knew were there and might even refuse the gracious invitation to hang around and keep observing.

Alice leads the end-of-an-era productions, judging the Art Fund Museums prize, and the Forest Fringe's search for a new home
End of an era for blockbuster stage spectacles
What an incredible fortnight it has been for socking great stage premieres in London: first Mark-Anthony Turnage's Anna Nicole at the Royal Opera, then Danny Boyle's production of Frankenstein at the National Theatre, and finally, on Monday, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at the Royal Ballet, choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. I couldn't help feeling that each of these lavish productions felt slightly fin-de-siècle – the last of the really luxurious premieres before funding cuts hit? It seemed to me that, of all these pieces, it is Alice that will have the greatest staying power. I can easily see it in the Royal's repertory in 30 years' time. It is by no means a perfect piece: it is a bit too choppily action-packed and abrupt,...

A bronze sculpture in honor of Oscar-winning actor Sir Sean Connery has been unveiled in the Estonian capital of Tallinn. The screen legend was honored on Thursday, January 27 when a bust baring his likeness was unveiled outside whiskey sampling society The Scottish Club, where members honor "Scots who have made a difference".
The $14,000 sculpture by Estonian artist Tiiu Kirsipuu was financed through private donations. British Ambassador Peter Carter attended the unveiling ceremony, telling guests "Sir Sean Connery is, without a doubt, an icon. He is variously known as James Bond or the sexiest man of the century. He's a great British actor, a great Scot actor and a great symbol for Scotland."
Connery follows in the footsteps of 18th century poet Robert Burns with The Scottish Club honor.

No young man dreams of growing up to be a lecturer for the British Council. But when I first stumbled across Olivia Manning's Balkan Trilogy in graduate school, I was ready to be signed up. At nearly a thousand pages, Manning's three novels are a sweeping story of marital love, English manners, and Balkan intrigues, set against Europe's descent into the Second World War. Harriet Pringle, bright and self-confident, joins her husband, Guy, in Bucharest, Romania, where he teaches English at the local university as part of a British cultural program. "Anything can happen now," Harriet thinks as her train chugs eastward, somewhere beyond Venice.

And so to the late, great Edward Woodward himself, who inspires great confidence as Sergeant Howie, a man whose unfettered dogged persistence defies all who stand before him in his pursuit of answers.
A key scene in understanding Howie comes when, upon visiting the school house, he is shocked to discover the school mistress (played by Diane Cilento, a former Mrs. Sean Connery and widow of screenwriter Anthony Schaffer) teaching her young class the phallic importance of the maypole. Approaching an empty desk he assumes to belong to Rowan Morrison (the missing girl at the centre of the mystery) he is surprised to discover a small beetle tied to a piece of string running endless circles around a small nail with no apparent meaning or purpose.

The title suggests a biopic of Robert Burns seen from his mother's point of view. The film is in fact Werner Herzog's characteristically bizarre, slightly fictionalised account of a real-life matricide in San Diego and these are the last words of a middle-class widow whose son killed her with a sword he'd used in an avant-garde production of The Oresteia in which he'd played Orestes. The murderer, Brad McCullum (Michael Shannon), claims to be holding hostages after the murder. These turn out to be a pair of pink flamingos whom he calls his "eagles in drag". As a sympathetic cop (Willem Dafoe) deals with the siege, we discover in flashback from neighbours, a Los Angeles stage director (played by that specialist in the deranged and menacing, Udo Kier) and Brad's long-suffering fiancee (Chloë Sevigny) what led up to this final act of madness.

He reveals the information on his new project, Killer In The Workplace through a video message. The band also features both previous/present members of bands like Stuck Mojo and Primer 55.
He says that he’s been happy to have played for seven years and has co-created a total of four records, not to mention travelled around the world.
He mentions that the departure from the band hasn’t anyway ruined his relationship with Max Cavalera, the iconic frontman of Soulfly. He also.
