During the 1980s and 90s, Brian Bonsall was one of the hottest young stars in the entertainment industry. Not only was he an adorable kid, but he was also a natural in front of the camera. Brian’s first TV role was also his big break when he was cast as Andy Keaton in the popular sitcom Family Ties. When the show ended in 1989, Bonsall kept the momentum going with roles in TV shows in movies. In 1994, he starred in the Disney movie Blank Check which is now considered a 90s classic by many. However, after 1994, Brian’s on-screen

The 1980s were a long time ago, and while Michael J. Fox is still so well known around the world, it may be difficult to remember just how big he really was. Think about it this way: his Classic TV sitcom Family Ties made its debut in 1982. Two years later, NBC introduced The Cosby Show, which became an absolute ratings sensation. Then the network placed Family Ties right behind that series, resulting in it becoming the second highest rated show on TV. Michael's comic brilliance caught the attention of producer Steven Spielberg and director Robert Zemeckis, and he was given permission from the show's creator, Gary David Goldberg, to shoot Family Ties during the day and the feature film Back to the Future at night. That film became the biggest moneymaker of 1985, turned the low budget Teen Wolf (shot earlier but released after Bttf) into a hit, and elevated the...

What’s old is new again. Or at least prime for a reboot of some sort. Playbill.com is reporting that Family Ties, the sitcom that turned Michael J. Fox into a household name, is being turned into a stage play. Araca Group, the production company behind such well known plays as Wicked and Book of Mormon, will lead the project. They’ve already signed on Kleban Award winner Daniel Goldstein to write the script. The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning sitcom, which ran on NBC from 1982-89, centers on former hippies (Michael Gross, Meredith Baxter) and their experiences raising their family in suburbia. Fox played their son Alex, a young Republican. Justine Batemen and Tina Yothers were cast as the two daughters. Later in the show’s run, the family had another child, Andrew (Brian Bonsall). “Family Ties is a timeless comedy featuring a close-knit American family with vastly differing interests and politics,...

Oh, and we can get one of those giant moon bounce things too! So we started a 9 dollar t-shirt and you guys couldn't get enough of it so as a way of saying thank you,...

It was a silly premise, but 3rd Rock from the Sun ended up outlasting those other three shows, running a full six seasons. As CBS continues to rollout their extensive TV series of past and present on DVD, we get the seventh of final season of Family Ties. This beloved 80s sitcom was hugely popular in its day and its resonances can still be felt today. While much of the style of the series (and costuming) is inherently dated, the humor and content of the show remain in tact, making this a very enjoyable show to watch.
In this final season, the Keaton family faces some emotional turmoil early on as patriarch Steven (Michael Gross) suffers a heart attack. Matriarch Elyse (Meredith Baxter Birney) must rally and keep the family strong in the 3-part episode “Heartstrings” as Steven undergoes heart surgery. In the latter half of the season, the writers set up the futures for the Keaton children. Spunky Jennifer (Tina Yothers) becomes a hardcore environmentalist. Ditzy Mallory (Justine Bateman) breaks into the fashion world with her designs.

The 80s were a great time for television. Family sitcoms in particular dominated the many channels’ lineups. One such family was the Keatons and they had welcome home in the popular NBC show Family Ties. The program was your typical half hour romp with smart writing and strong performances. The show lasted a respectable seven seasons and for purposes of this review, emphasis shall be placed on the season six DVD.
Family Ties revolves around a pretty typical family in the 1980s. Elyse (Meredith Baxter) and Steven Keaton (Michael Gross) are former hippies who are now married. They have an eclectic group of kids in conservative Alex (Michael J. Fox), ditzy Mallory (Justine Bateman), sarcastic Jennifer (Tina Yothers) and cute as a button youngin Andrew (Brian Bonsall). Every episode focuses on a particular problem and by the end of the episode is usually solved unless it’s a cliffhanger.

Just when we thought Francis Ford Coppola had retreated deep into the jungles of Cambodia like the infamous Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now, the Oscar-winning director has emerged from the undergrowth without a severed head in sight – and apparently he’s working on a big studio epic, albeit in way that is currently all secret and stuff. Coppola, of course, hasn’t made a studio flick since 1997′s The Rainmaker, and we all know how that turned out (not too badly, actually – apologies for making you think otherwise).
Speaking about the project, Coppola revealed he was in cahoots with “a secret investor that has infinite money”, giving us reason to believe that his investor is either a Genie or a Middle-Eastern sultan. “I learned what I learned from my three smaller films, and wanted to write a bigger film,” he went on to say, referring to his recent period making relatively unsuccessful indie movies.

As of Aug. 16, 2011, Madonna Louise Ciccone is 53 years old. And while the singer and actress' contributions to popular culture are perhaps to great to even count, the three-year gap since her last album, "Hard Candy," has found her more famous for dating men half her age.
The latest, as E! reports, is 24-year-old French dancer Brahim Zaibat, who Madonna spent her pre-birthday weekend with, canoodling in the Hamptons. The duo have apparently been a casual item since the spring, following Madonna's more notable rumored romances with Yankee Alex Rodriguez and model Jesus Luz.
But is it anyone's business to question the twice-married icon's decision to date well below the socially acceptable age bracket? We thinks not.
So in honor of the singer's long history of courting younger men, here's the 1986 video for her single "Open Your Heart," in which she chair dances for a little boy who looks a lot...

I hate it when a celebrity gets into trouble and various writers trot out the old "_____ is cursed!" stories. As if various people, even if they were on the same show, can't have bad things happen to them. I mean, I worked at a place once where my coworkers later had arrests, miscarriages, divorces, illnesses, and money problems, but I don't go around saying "my God, that office was cursed!"
But that doesn't stop the San Diego Reader saying that the cast of Family Ties is cursed, because Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's, Brian Bonsall keeps getting arrested, Meredith Baxter battled cancer, and Justine Bateman...well, what, made a bad movie in the '80s? I love how the writer glosses over the fact that Courteney Cox went on to star in a rather popular NBC sitcom in the'90s.

Family Ties actor Brian Bonsall has been charged with second-degree assault after his arrest last weekend (05/06Dec09) for allegedly attacking a pal with a broken bar stool.
The former child star allegedly beat Michael Trujillo in the face with a splintered chair during a night of heavy drinking at his friend's Colorado home.
After concerned local residents called authorities, Bonsall was booked at the scene - only for cops to realise he had been wanted for more than a year after missing a court hearing in 2008.
He had allegedly violated terms of his probation stemming from an assault on his girlfriend in 2007.
Bonsall, best known for playing Michael J. Fox's little brother on the hit '80s sitcom, is currently being held in Boulder County Jail on $7,500 (£4,687) bail.
He faces up to six years behind bars if he is convicted of assault.

On the heels of this past week's (non) pandemonium over the self-outing of "Family Ties" TV mom, Meredith Baxter, comes the unfortunate news that her cute little TV son, "Andy", portrayed by child actor, Brian Bonsall, was arrested for assault with a deadly chair. Bonsall has suffered a string of drinking and fighting charges throughout his adult years, reminding us here at Celebuzz that as bad as today's young stars can be, the fate of yesterday's child actors who are now unemployed is often far worse, even downright criminal. Check out our selections for the Top 8 Child Actors Turned Criminals in...

"Family Ties" is all over the news lately! Brian Bonsall is due in court Wednesday for alleged assault.
According to the Associated Press, 28 year-old Bonsall was arrested in Boulder, Co on Dec. 5 after he allegedly got into a fight with a friend, striking the friend with a broken wooden stool.
Bonsall was previously arrested two years ago for assaulting his girlfriend and put on probation, then subsequently accused of parole violations.
This comes on the heels of "Family Ties" mom Meredith Baxter-Birney making headlines by announcing that she is a lesbian. We're all quite familiar by now with Michael J. Fox's struggle with Parkinson's. What could be next for the "Family Ties" crew? Vote below!
Also, take heed "Desperate Housewives" actor Mason Vale Cotton -- don't be the next cute young blonde child actor to grow up to be an alleged assaulter.

Family Ties actor Brian Bonsall was arrested on Saturday after allegedly attacking a pal - only for police to realise he's been wanted for more than a year for another crime.
The former child star, who played Michael J. Fox's little brother on the hit '80s sitcom, is said to have hit Michael Trujillo in the face with a splintered bar stool during a night of heavy drinking at his friend's Colorado home.
Concerned neighbours alerted authorities, who booked the 28 year old at the scene despite his claims he had no recollection of the brawl, according to the Colorado Daily.
A police report obtained by the publication reads, "Bonsall said that he and Trujillo both are bipolar and like drugs. Bonsall said that he takes a lot of drugs and sometimes those drugs make him forget things."
Officials then discovered Bonsall has been wanted since July 2008 after he failed to appear at a hearing for allegedly violating his probation, linked to a 2007 assault charge.
He is currently behind bars at Boulder County Jail.

Anyone who watched "Family Ties" back in the day probably could have predicted that if any member of the Keaton Family was going to wind up in trouble, it would be little Andy. After all, he wasn't really a necessary element to the otherwise well crafted show, and as far as adorable kid actors went, he didn't hold a candle to Rudy from "The Cosby Show" or Ricky Schroder on "Silver Spoons." And now 27 years later, Brian Bonsall has fulfilled that prophecy. Grown up Andy (now with a butterfly tattoo on his throat), was arrested last night for hitting his friend Michael Trujillo with a broken bar stool. The police report allegedly states, "Bonsall then said that he and Trujillo both are bipolar and like drugs," according to the report. Sounds like a deadly concoction for a washed up child star. The former Family Ties star has been busted again, this time for an assault he barely remembers.
Brian Bonsall, the actor who played little Andy Keaton on Family Ties, has been picked up in Colorado for assault. Police arrested him for smashing a bar stool over his friend while the two were drinking. Drugs may also have been involved since the police report said, "He and Trujillo both are bipolar and like drugs. Bonsall said that he takes a lot of drugs and sometimes those drugs make him forget things."
It gets worse. Prosecutors believe he violated his probation from his previous assault involving a former girlfriend and filed a warrant for his arrest, so now he could face serious jail time.

Perhaps Andy Keaton still reeling from the whole mom's-a-lesbian thing. Brian Bonsall, who played the youngest member of the Keaton clan on Family Ties, is in trouble with the Colorado law yet again, this time after being arrested after allegedly hitting a friend with a piece of a wooden stool. According to Boulder's Daily Camera, police were called to the apartment of Bonsall's "friend," Micheal Trujillo, three times Friday night before finally arresting the former child star at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Police said that Bonsall, 28, told them he had been drinking and didn't remember the incident. He's currently being held in Boulder County Jail in lieu of...

Over the weekend, former child star Brian Bonsall was taken into custody in Colorado for getting involved in a bar brawl. If his name isn't all that familiar, maybe mentioning Family Ties will ring a bell. Known as the kid who played little Andy Keaton on the show, this actor later became semi-famous for playing Worf's son on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Anyway, Colorado Daily reports that the 28-year-old is currently facing third-degree assault charges for hitting his friend in the face with a bar stool. It's not just that, he's actually been wanted by the cops for years. Brian Bonsall has already skipped a court hearing in July 2008, further damaging his case.

An arrest warrant has been issued for former child star Brian Bonsall after he skipped a court hearing in Colorado on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old former Family Ties star was due to face probation violation charges, stemming from an arrest on assault charges last year, but he failed to show up, and now faces jail.
Bonsall pleaded guilty to third-degree assault after a fight with his girlfriend in 2007. He has allegedly violated the terms of the probation by failing to pay for domestic violence classes and failing to attend scheduled alcohol tests, reports TMZ.com.

It was almost 20 years ago that Family Ties, one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1980s, said goodbye to NBC. Today, the cast returned to the peacock network for their first on-screen reunion.
Family Ties debuted on September 22, 1982 and centers around the Keaton Family of Columbus, Ohio. Liberal Steven (Michael Gross) and Elyse (Meredith Baxter) are the parents to conservative Alex (Michael J. Fox), underachieving Mallory (Justine Bateman), and tomboy Jennifer (Tina Yothers). During the sitcom's third season, Elyse gave birth to a fourth child, Andrew (played by Brian Bonsall beginning in season five).
The series ended on May 14, 1989 with an hour-long episode entitled "Alex Doesn't Live Here Anymore." It centers around Alex getting a great job on Wall Street and leaving the family home for the first time.
The network wanted the show back for an eighth season but the cast and creator Gary David Goldberg felt...
