Glengarry Glen Ross, Clerks, A Few Good Men, The Big Short, Office Space and Waiting. What do these flicks have in common? No matter the genre they fall in they all have great writing, great dialogue and superb execution of both these factors from there core cast. While Admins may be a low budget independent movie it has all these key ingredients and deserves your attention.
Since movies like Clerks and Office Space hit our screens and gave us a real good look into work life culture, many movies have came and went since that tried to capture that magic but more often than not they fail because they lack the witty dialogue or lead cast delivery. Even before they were popularised by Scream‘s slasher movie obsessive Randy, most of us were aware of the ‘rules’ of populating a horror movie. Don’t have sex. Don’t smoke weed. Don’t go off alone. And for heaven’s sake, stay away from Indian burial grounds. Lest we give Randy all the credit though, some horror movies have been giving away the rules for years – and in their title, no less.
Don’t Look Now, Don’t Go Near the Park, Don’t Hang Up, Don’t Go in the Woods, Don’t Open Till Christmas, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (a somewhat ironic title, that), Don’t Go To Sleep… this naming convention was (and is) popular enough to...

Legendary “ghost” singer Marni Nixon has died at the age of 86, the New York Times reports. Nixon died yesterday in Manhattan from breast cancer, according to her student and friend Randy Banner. Nixon was often heard but rarely seen in movie musical classics: Her lovely soprano echoed from the mouths of Deborah Kerr in The King And I, Natalie Wood in West Side Story and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady.
Though Nixon remained in the shadows for most of her career, Kerr actually tipped the public off about Nixon, despite Twentieth Century Fox’s insistence that Nixon keep her participation quiet. “Deborah Kerr herself, gave me some credit right away on The King & I,” Nixon told the Los Angeles Times in 1990. Nixon later also subbed in for Kerr on An Affair To Remember. “By the time I was doing West Side Story a few years later ...

If you’re one of the purists who thinks that the last episode of South Park worth watching was Scott Tenorman Must Die, it’s time for you to live in the present. After all, that’s how Trey Parker and Matt Stone have kept their gift to humanity relevant and funny over the years.
Sustained artistic brilliance relies on a balance of maintaining a signature aesthetic and updating it to fit an ever-changing societal context. South Park, as a comedic satire, comes by its contextual shifts naturally, but it’s also gone through a few distinct stylistic eras. Early on, the show was defined by the boys’ innocence (even Cartman was innocent in the beginning, before he became a murderer). Then, in its middle seasons, it became a lampoon of catastrophe, using overly dramatic music to ramp up the stakes and turning the town into a confederacy of dunces.

Fargo, Season 2, Episode 4, “Fear and Trembling”
Written by Steve Blackman
Directed by Michael Uppendahl
Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on FX
The inevitability apparent in Fargo‘s second season have driven a lot of its tension so far. The last two episodes have certainly proved there are interesting stories being told in the here and now of 1979, but a lot of what’s driven Fargo in early episodes – besides the fantastic character work by the entire cast – is the ominous feeling of bad endings awaiting characters, be it the Blomquists’ growing set of problems, or Betsy’s experimental cancer drug trial. Like Lou Solverson notes about the look on a man’s face when he’s in the middle of dying (or to return to last week’s metaphor, how Sisyphus feels on his way up the hill), there’s nothing but darkness awaiting our characters in Sioux Falls, and they,...

1999 will always be one of my favorite years for movies. This is partially because there were a lot of great movies released that year, but mainly because in 1999 I was in high school, and as we all know, the world was more important and less terrible when we were in high school. Last week, I took a look at which movies from 1999 had aged well, and asked which had aged poorly. The response was overwhelming, insofar as it's overwhelming that anyone likes American Beauty. However, one reader email in particular struck me as a launchpad for an important conversation. Here...

We look at 20 former A-list actors, and the interesting film choices they've made...
There comes a time in every A-list actor's life when they gather their thoughts and take a step back into smaller budget or more leftfield fare - and for a variety of reasons. They may want to work with a certain director or an emerging directing talent. They might be taken by a fantastic script. They might fancy a new artistic direction. They may even have a spiritual epiphany and decide to eschew Hollywood and all its decadent trappings, or they may simply just not have a choice, since the big roles have long since dried up for them.
The reason for this list then, is to look at some of those shining lights, the household names, and at the films they took up as proof of their artistic integrity.

There many different locations in the WWE universe that have garnered much respect. We have the sacred ground of Madison Square Garden, the Allstate arena in Chicago and the Boston Garden. But out of all locations WWE has been, there’s nothing more fun than when WWE goes to “Bizarro World” in Toronto Air Canada Center.. And it’s only fitting that the bizarre one Goldust returns this past Monday from Toronto to avenge his brother attempting to get Cody’s job back against the WWE champion, Randy Orton.
The night begins with the returning WWE Hall of Famer Edge coming home to Toronto and the company. The Rated R Superstar comes back to a racous reaction. He says that he loves being back but it wasn’t of his own accord. Edge says he was mandated by Triple H to have a reunion with his old partner not Christian...

Welcome to our weekly in-depth review of WWE Raw.
Raw is live from Toronto, Canada tonight and we start off the show with Toronto’s own, and WWE Hall of Famer, Edge. Edge gets a loud response from his hometown crowd and looking at his energy as he makes his way to the ring, he looks to have missed this wrestling gig. Edge says he was asked to come to Raw by Triple H because it would be “good for business” for Edge and Randy Orton to have a reunion, as they were former tag team partners. Edge says that talking to Randy Orton “is like watching paint dry”. The fans love Edge and his sarcasm and humorous remarks. Edge says he’s not interested in talking to Randy Orton, but has another guest in mind, and introduces Daniel Bryan, who gets a huge pop from the Canadian crowd.

It's the final night of Sudden Death on American Idol. The guys in the competition so far haven't been spectacular. The remaining 10 will sing for the judges and then the judges, perhaps with the help of our pal Jimmy Iovine, will send half of them home.
Five will be left standing (because really, those stools are uncomfortable) and they'll join last week's winners in rounding out the top of this season's male contestants.
By the end of tonight, we'll have this season's Top 20 American Idol contestants and America will begin voting. Let's get to it...

Chicago – Pardon the clichés for a minute. I can’t help myself. Dax Shepard’s “Hit & Run” doesn’t just lose the drag race. It doesn’t just blow a flat tire or run out of gas. Think of all the Shalit-esque puns you can about a disastrous experience in a car and apply them to this lurching mess of five or six movies that aspires to be Tarantino-esque but completely misses its mark. There are a number of likable people in “Hit & Run” and they’ll walk away clean from this accident but audiences will want to quickly forget they ever took the ride.
Rating: 1.5/5.0
Shepard wrote, co-directed, and stars as Charlie Bronson, a name his character chose for himself when he entered the witness protection program after testifying against a notorious criminal played by Bradley Cooper. Bronson has been living peacefully in a small town with his lovely...

Here’s a treat for you, “American Idol” fans.
When news broke of Dick Clark’s death yesterday, the Internet was abuzz with tributes — many including YouTube videos featuring some of Clark’s finest, funniest, or most memorable moments.
This one, however, might be one that Randy Jackson would like to forget. First of all, he’s playing bass for… Michael Bolton??? (And not the cool Michael Bolton from “Office Space.”) Second of all, look at that hair! It’s as if he had it styled to look like a Green Bay Packers “cheesehead” hat, which isn’t a good look on anybody.
And, sadly, it also explains why Randy said he actually liked Sanjaya’s “fauxhawk” during Season 6 of “Idol.”
Check out Randy Jackson’s current hair style — or lack thereof — tonight on the “American Idol” elimination show at 8/7c on Fox.

When talk turns to Louisiana, we don’t really think of wine. Mint juleps, sure. Falstaff beer, of course. Absinthe, it makes the heart grow fonder. But, be honest. When you think of Louisiana, you think of crooked politicians, complete with prison sentences.
Willie Stark is the main character in All The King’s Men, and he was pretty much traced from a cutout of former Louisiana Governor Huey Long. Broderick Crawford’s bellicose portrayal is – for my popcorn money – one of the best acting jobs in movie history.
Stark is a populist politician who forms a ruthless political machine behind all the dumb ol’ hicks he wins over with his “I’m just like you” jingoism. That’s right – it’s kinda like watching Fox News.
The story of Huey Long fascinates me, turns my stomach, makes me cry, makes me vote, makes me want to give up voting.

Randy heads to N’awlins with The King, King Creole.
Even some hardcore Elvis Presley fans find his movies a bit tedious to watch. He’s singing, he’s fighting, he’s singing, he’s kissing, he’s singing while fighting… that’s pretty much the script rundown for a lot of his films.
I hear that “Clambake” was E’s personal favorite of all his movies, but he liked the character of Danny Fisher in “King Creole” the best. The critics also seem to favor the two-fisted, hard-headed, dropout, nightclub singer of the 1958 classic.
While trying to choose a wine for “King Creole,” my mind immediately played the Wwed card – What Would Elvis Drink?
The King may be more closely associated with stuff a little harder than alcohol. He didn’t seem to be much of a social drinker, but he didn’t really seem very social anyway. I...

Durham, N.C. - During lunch a filmmaker tells me that of all the festivals he’s attended with his movies, the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is the only one he wants to attend as a spectator. He enjoys how the various screens and activities aren’t spread all over the city. There’s a relaxed atmosphere as the festival-goers aren’t hustling hard to get tickets to sold out screenings. It’s a sweet Southern festival in the middle of Tobacco Road. Even the world’s biggest superstar just hangs out with the festival goers inside of hiding behind a wall of security.
Who is the superstar? Elmo! And we have an exclusive chat with him at the end of this column.
The film selection was once more top notch. An ample number of documentaries received their world debut in Durham. There were a few films that had built a buzz at Sundance,...

Welcome to Pajiba's newest experiment. Something we've never attempted before -- a real-time review, done by two people 3000 miles away from each other. For tonight's feature, we'll be discussing the 1982 classic, The Beastmaster, otherwise known as "The Best Fucking Movie Ever." Your hosts this evening are Tk, most well-known for his irritability, misanthropy, general disdain for all humans (yes, including you) and burgeoning alcoholism, and Joanna, best known for general cleverness, a dedication to witticism, and burgeoning alcoholism. Let's get right to it, shall we?

As you may have noticed recently, the WWE and Owf have joined forces to create a heavy-weight tag-team the likes of which hasn’t been seen since The Natural Disasters burst onto the professional brawling scene in 1991.
The latest title we have the pleasure of reviewing is WWE – Top 50 Superstars of All Time, which is available to buy from today on DVD. And by the beard of Macho Man Randy Savage it’s a good ‘un.
The format is as simple as it is familiar in these list compilations: teaming up archive footage with talking head evaluations of each of the top fifty superstars, with an extended dedication to each of the top five choices, WWE Top 50 Superstars of All Time may not be the definitive list- as it is necessarily as subjective as all of these list features will always be- but it is certainly a well put together,...

Every year when Oscars roll around, there is one category that holds particular interest to me because it rewards creativity and hard work to the filmmaker who fought so hard to make their vision come true. Last year’s Best Director Oscar saw a historic win in Kathryn Bigelow, the first female to win the coveted award for her Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker. This year’s nominees announcement caused a wave of fury and outcry when fan favorite Christopher Nolan was snubbed for director even while Inception earned a Best Picture nomination. Still, despite this controversial omission, the lineup of directors this year is a formidable list of seasoned veterans, most of whom are all vying to take home gold for the first time.
The Nominees:
Darren Aronofsky, Black Swan
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, True Grit
David Fincher, The Social Network

Here we go with the first Film Diary post in its new weekly slot. It’s been pretty quiet so far, but from here on in it’s going to get a lot more bumpy. Remember, if you’re willing to offer me suggestions for what to watch, I’m more than willing to take them on board- if I don’t own them, I’ll even go and source them so I can share the love.
For anyone who missed it, here’s the skinny. Basically, what I’m presenting here is my attempt to chart a whole year’s worth of film-watching – something I have wanted to do for some time now. The aim is to post frequently, chronicling every film I watch this year – both offering reviews and setting myself the ultimate goal of watching (and writing about) as many films as humanly possible, without abandoning the necessary functions of normal existence…...

Sundance is abuzz with the performance of Elizabeth Olsen, who apparently fell out of the same vagina that hatched the Olsen twins. Looks like she took all the talent with her too. But it got me thinking about other showbiz families and what I like to call the Roberts Dichotomy. Namely, Eric and Julia. Both actors, both born of the same genes, and yet, one opens wide her gaping maw and makes gabillions while the other's busy doing B-movies and birthing bigger child stars.
Thing is, I love Eric Roberts. I'll watch The Best of the Best pretty much every time it's on. It's like Rocky for sad lonely kickboxers. It's just strange that Julia gets all the accolades. And so started up a list of other semi-talented siblings overshadowed by the crazy successful brethren/sistern.
Fun Fact: Nicolas Cage, Sofia Coppola, and Jason Schwartzmann are all first cousins. Jason's mother is Talia Shire.

With shooting on "Scream 4," the first sequel in the "Scream" series in over ten years, already underway, the biggest horror might be for the casting director. Two leads have dropped out, and new faces are in for the highly anticipated slasher sequel.
According to Hollywood Reporter, "How to Make It in America" star Lake Bell, who was set to play a town deputy who knew Neve Campbell's character Sidney back in high school, is out, and the rumor is Lauren Graham, best known as the former "Gilmore Girl" and currently starring on NBC's "Parenthood," is reportedly dropping out due to a schedule conflict as well.
Taking over for Bell is Marley Shelton, best known for her roles in movies like "Grindhouse" and "Pleasantville," who will take on the deputy role of Judy Hicks. Adam Brody is joining the cast as a cop who recently graduated from college and...

The grandson of Clark Gable is fighting Randy Jackson's plans to allow fans into the cemetery where Michael Jackson is interred on the first anniversary of the singer's death. The King of Pop's younger brother Randy is asking officials to permit mourners to visit the star's tomb in a private section of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, on June 25.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he tells fans, "I'm meeting with Forest Lawn and the City of Glendale. Although they have strict rules, I'll do my best 2 (to) see if fans can visit & pay their respects beyond the gates of Forest Lawn, on the 25th." But the plans have upset the family of screen legend Gable, who is buried in a nearby plot, as they want access to be restricted to relatives.
The "Gone With the Wind" star's grandson, Clark Gable III, tells TMZ.

The Gone With The Wind star's grandson, Clark Gable III, tells TMZ.com the mausoleum "wouldn't be as sacred" if fans are allowed inside.
But author Ronald J. Fields, whose grandfather was funnyman W.C. Fields, is backing Jackson's plans, insisting members of the public should be allowed to pay their respects as it would be "moving to them".

Return to Sender - As the Idols took on the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, few of the performances were anything to write home about. The title, The King, truly applies as Elvis has sold over 1 billion records. Adam Lambert, Season 8 runner-up, returned to mentor the night. There are actually many similarities between Adam and Elvis. The showmanship, the understanding of entertaining the audience, the hair, and the list goes on.
The 9 winged their way to Vegas via private jet to see the .Viva Elvis. show and rehearse. During their mentoring sessions with Adam (the first former contestant to be a mentor), our idols were given honest, constructive criticism. Above all he told them they needed more energy. Which couldn.t be more true with most of this sleepy (just ask Randy) bunch. Kudos to Adam for being the best mentor this season.

He may have been last year's runner-up, but Adam Lambert is second to no one when it comes to compelling and inventive song rearrangements. He mentored the "Idols" last night ... and here's how they did.
momlogic's Vivian: When I learned that last night's guest mentor would be last year's "American Idol" runner-up, Adam Lambert, I was all fired up because he is the master of transforming arrangements to suit his vocal stylings (the makings of any true artist). And not for nothing, but this final nine -- with the exception of Big Mike and Crystal Bowersox -- kind of suck at that key element.
Quite fittingly, this week's surprise theme was the songs of Elvis Presley -- and in true Elvis style, the final nine flew to Las Vegas to consult with Elvis look-alike Lambert ... and experience a performance of The King's music, Cirque du Soliel style!

Honesty is a quality all too undervalued in critics (it usually takes a back seat to the ability to create short, penetrating little missiles of inanity that can be featured on a film’s poster come awards season), so I’ll come clean with you right now: I walked into Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day fully expecting to hate it, and already crafting impossibly clever sentiments designed to let everyone know just how awful it was. But I didn’t hate it. I certainly didn’t like it, and I didn’t laugh once, but it defied my expectations as to what I was about to see in ways that weren’t really pleasing, though I’m still a little befuddled by.
Ricky (Robb Wells, the obnoxious one), Julian (John Paul Tremblay, the leader) and Bubbles (Mike Smith, the one who seems to deliberately evoke Milton from Office Space...

If Frankenstein's monster represents man creating life without a woman and Dracula represents sleeping with a stranger, then the werewolf is no doubt the bestiality within man. We all have some form of a dark nature encoded in our genetic make-up, the beast within if you will. Even though Vampires seem to be all the rave nowadays, I was always a greater fan of the werewolf and find them sexier than those pale, angst ridden parasites. I can't really explain it and I'm sure my attraction to aggressive members of the opposite sex has something to do with it, but that's another story. In celebration of the epic Benicio Del Toro vehicle The Wolfman, which resurrects one of Universal Pictures' classic movie monsters, I took a look at a dozen of the sexiest werewolves in movies and TV. This is not a list about the best werewolf movies ever made,...

Randy Jackson has lashed out at organizers of the Grammy awards for failing to invite his family to witness Sunday night's, January 31, 2010 tribute to his late brother Michael Jackson. The King of Pop, who passed away in June 2009, was honored with a spectacular 3-D performance featuring Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Usher at the prestigious music event.
His two eldest children, Paris and Prince Michael, came onstage to collect their father's Lifetime Achievement Award and received a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd. But Randy is fuming that the rest of the hitmaking clan were not asked to attend the ceremony by organizers.
In a series of posts on his personal Twitter page, he writes, "So proud, my brother being honored... (with) the Lifetime Achievement Award. My family would love to be there but truth is, we weren't invited. He adds, "Let me be clear, when...

Usually, it's the crowds at Comic-Con who are calling "bullshit" during the panels, but it was Robert Downey Jr. who pulled the Bs card on Jon Favreau when the director introduced footage for "Iron Man 2" and presented what looked like a cheesy commercial for a used car lot blowout with glimpses of the new film. "What was that unadulterated garbage I just saw?" Downey complained as he walked onto the stage to huge cheers. "You showed me better stuff in the editing room." Though Favreau protested that "Iron Man 2" only wrapped a week prior and nudged Downey into leading the 6,000-plus crowd into singing "Happy Birthday" for his eight-year-old son, he did ultimately relent and show a solid five minutes worth' of footage that began with Tony Stark chomping on a donut while sitting inside the hole of the famed Randy's Donuts sign in Los Angeles and...

Judd Apatow’s new film Funny People is smarter than a film with a bagload of d*ck jokes might suggest (my review is coming July 31st). Part of the film’s wit is observing the current state of comedy, which is unfortunately as sour as the sudden news of our impending death.
Leading the way are the stars with actual talent who “sacrifice” their potential for gimmicky comedies that make a killing at both the box office and at their own credibilty. Adam Sandler plays George Simmons, a very Adam Sandler-like star who has earned success with comedies like “Merman,” “Astro-Not,” and “My Best Friend Is A Robot.” You can catch up on the work of George Simmons on his website.
Then there’s a “new” sitcom coming to NBC called “Yo Teach…!”, a show that earns a “A+” in corniness. Up and coming star Mark Taylor Jackson...

Cinema Retro publishers Lee Pfeiffer and Dave Worrall attended the Bradford International Film Festival in Bradford, England last week. Here is Lee Pfeiffer's first report:
For many years, we had heard about the exciting events that take place at the annual Bradford International Film Festival. The festival is held at the National Media Museum, which is a state-of-the-art showcase for the history of British film, TV, photography and new media. Over the last fifteen years, the festival has hosted world premieres, classic film screenings and internationally acclaimed interview sessions with actors and filmmakers. Although the festival has proven to be a popular attraction, Bradford's distance from London (several hours north) has kept many movie fans from attending. As most of our dealings are generally in London, we fall into that category ourselves. However, we learned that passing up on this festival is a major faux pas on behalf of any serious movie lover.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to make a cameo appearance in Sly Stallone’s 80s-throwback-actioner The Expendables. Add this to the casting of Mickey Rourke and Danny Trejo (the big, scary Mexican dude in everything from Con Air to Grindhouse), and Stallone finds himself with one of the most anticipated films of the year.
They join the already impressive cast of Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker, former Ufc Champion Randy “The Natural” Couture and Eric Roberts (replacing Ben Kingsley).
Arnie will only be shooting for one day, and will be playing himself. Presumably in politician mode.
The movie follows a group of “expendable” mercenaries (Stallone, Statham and Li) ordered to South America to overthrow a ruthless dictator.
Van Damme was offered a role too, but (stupidly) turned it down. Here’s what he told Total Film -

From almost 20 years of South Park, here are its 25 best episodes featuring World Of Warcraft, Game Of Thrones parodies and more...
It’s funny how time can shift our perceptions. Long, long ago, way back in 1997, South Park was a counter-cultural revolutionary of a TV show, an ode to all things sexual and scatological that looked like it had been animated in the creators’ garden shed. Best noted for the ire it drew from parents’ groups and the weekly deaths of perma-hoodied fourth-grader Kenny, it bore all the markings of a flash-in-the-pan success, tie-in merchandise quickly shifted by the million and a movie fast-tracked to the multiplexes almost immediately.
Fast forward nearly twenty (twenty!) years later, and far from having been consigned to television history, South Park is an establishment icon; still brave and boundary-pushing, but revered by the majority, not feared, as much a...
