Adrienne Biddle has been working in the film business for decades, but she's perhaps best known for her long-time collaboration with Bryan Bertino.
With their production company Unbroken Films, the pair have ushered into existence not only Bertino's projects but also a steady stream of outstanding horror offerings including Oz Perkins's unnerving The Blackcoat's Daughter, and Akiva Goldsman's Stephanie.
The latest partnership between Biddle and Bertino is The Dark and the Wicked. Written and directed by Bertino, it's the unnerving story of Louise, played by Marin Ireland, who returns home to care for her mother who seems to be losing her mind as the family patriarch slowly dies. The long in gestation sequel to The Strangers looks to have finally died a death...
Back in 2008, writer/director Bryan Bertino gave the world the quietly effective home invasion horror, The Strangers. Nearly a decade on, there’s one sequence in the movie in particular that still gets our spine shivering. It's worth giving the movie a spin.
For some time since, there’s been chatter about a sequel to the movie, and even earlier this year, the project was still active. A new director was in place – Marcel Langenegger – and Ben Ketai had penned a new draft of the screenplay.
One of the big obstacles the film faced though was the financial turbulence of its now parent company, Relativity (the same firm that, until recently, held the rights to The Crow remake). In a new interview with Rue Morgue, producer Adrienne Biddle has confirmed that she...

This year’s Blood List has named the 13 best genre scripts around town, and in its sixth year the annual screenplay contest is expanding its scope to include hot books, TV pilots, and young scribes ripe for signing. Taking top honors in 2014 is sci-fi thriller Bird Box from The Thing and Final Destination 5 scribe Eric Heisserer, an apocalyptic tale of a woman trying to lead her children to safety – all three blindfolded – after monsters descend on earth that turn people insane on sight. Universal set Heisserer to adapt the manuscript from Josh Malerman in 2013 for Mama helmer Andy Muschietti. Previous Blood List alumni include Black Swan, Stoker, Warm Bodies, and the upcoming Blumhouse thriller The Boy Next Door.
Like the Black List naming the top unproduced screenplays circulating around Hollywood, the genre-focused Blood List taps exec votes to determine each year’s best unmade horror, sci-fi, and thriller scripts.

Back in 2002 Akiva Goldsman (Batman Forever, I Am Legend) won an Academy Award for penning A Beautiful Mind, and he's gone on to executive produce the first three Paranormal Activity sequels. Next up, he plops down in the director's chair for a horror flick called Stephanie.
Per Deadline, Goldsman has been tapped to direct the Blumhouse-produced tale of supernatural thrills and chills, a story about a little girl with unworldly abilities who was abandoned before a man and woman show up claiming to be her parents, thereby interrupting her mysterious world.
A fall start is being eyed for the film, also produced by Unbroken and The Gotham Group. Jason Blum has a deal with Universal so the pic may go through there.

It's been several years since we've seen anything from writer/director Bryan Bertino, who burst onto the scene in 2008 with the effective home invasion flick The Strangers. Next, he continues with the home invasion theme, only this time the invading monsters aren't of the human variety.
Screen Daily reports that Bertino's next project will be a horror flick titled There Are Monsters, which he wrote and will be directing. Elisabeth Moss, best known for her role on "Mad Men," has signed on to star in the film.
Bertino’s script follows a single mom and her terrified young daughter who are trapped and tormented by a mysterious creature.
Pre-production is due to get under way in the fall of 2014.

We here at FEARnet are pretty big fans of director Dave Parker, in particular his feature film 'The Hills Run Red,' which was listed on my "recommended slashers" article from last year. Also, fellow FEARnet contributor Tyler Doupe named Parker one of our favorite underrated filmmakers and so, a lot of genre fans have been curious to check out his latest movie, the mysterious, experimental 'Coldwater' for quite some time now. I've seen it. It's unique, interesting and indie cinema at its finest. And well, if you live in La, you're in luck!
'Coldwater' will screen for Free at The Crest Theater located at 1262 Westwood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90024 this upcoming Thursday, January 9th. You'll want to arrive early. There's a red carpet event starting at 6:45Pm. Then at 7:45Pm, there will be a special Independent Horror Film Panel moderated by Bloody-Disgusting's...

Director Dave Parker (a Dread Central favorite) is gearing up to screen his latest film, ColdWater (review), as part of the New Hollywood Film Festival, and if you're in Los Angeles next week, you should make it your business to be there!
The screening taking place on January 9th is presented by NuHo along with our buddies over at Bloody Disgusting at the Crest Theater in Westwood (1262 Westwood Blvd., Westwood, CA 90024); and there will be an impressive array of talent on hand for a pre-film Q&A that will be conducted by Evan Dickson.
Making an appearance will be Parker along with Adam Green (writer/director of Hatchet, Frozen, and “Holliston”), Darren Bousman (director of Saw 2, 3, and 4; Repo! The Genetic Opera; The Barrens; and The Devil’s Carnival), and Adrienne Biddle (producer of Bryan Bertino’s upcoming Mockingbird and former Rogue Pictures exec).

Just in time for Halloween! Independent Lit manager, Hollywood Hustler, and all around nice gal Miss Kailey Alexis Marsh has just dropped the annual Blood List!
The Blood List is the top 13 most liked, unproduced dark genre screenplays of the year, released annually on Halloween. This is the 5th anniversary. Over 100 feature film executives vote on their top 3 favorite dark genre (horror, sci-fi, thriller) screenplays of the year. Seventy-seven of them earned votes, with screenplays requiring a minimum of four votes in order to make the final cut. I’m looking forward to reading some of these. Patrol and Family Vacation seem to be scripts that are in my wheelhouse. Coming in at number one is Ink and Bone, Zak Olkewicz’s horror spec script about a writer held hostage by his own creations that Dimension purchased earlier this year according to Deadline. Meet the 2013 class of The Blood List:...

No, it's not a serial killer's bucket list.
The annual Blood List represents the best dark genre screenplays in Hollywood that have yet to be made. It’s a great way to support community and get word out about all the original films that should be on Hollywood’s radar.
Here’s how it works straight from the source:
The Blood List was created in 2009 to bring attention to darker, genre unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. A calendar year for a script to be considered for the list is from October 31st to October 31st. Voting is done by 100 industry insiders. The list is known as the 'Top horror screenplays list' but also has scripts in the sci fi, fantasy, thriller, and dark comedy space as well.
Genres included on the list are: Horror, thriller, sci-fi, dark drama, and dark comedies. This year 117 feature executives voted. Each executive chose their top...

Back in October of last year we got the first word that Unbroken Films partners Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) and Adrienne Biddle were partnering with Marc Platt to produce Grim Night for Universal, and now finally a director has been chosen.
Per Variety, German helmer Dennis Gansel is in negotiations to make his U.S. directorial debut on Grim Night, which is based on the original screenplay and short film by Brandon Bestenheider and Allen Bey. The film is set in a world where people lock themselves indoors one night a year for fear of random attacks from creatures known as the Grims. Below is a promo trailer put together by Bertino last year when he was marketing the idea to various studios.

We first heard of The Strangers director Bryan Bertino‘s Mockingbird back in November, and THR is now reporting on the lead for the Paranormal Activity-esque thriller: Todd Stashwick. Audrey Marie Anderson and Alexa Lydon have also been pegged for roles.
Formerly known as Red Balloons, the found footage picture “tells the story of a couple who are given a camera and a set of instructions. They must carry out what’s on the document or someone will die.” Stashwick will play the husband, with Anderson as his spouse; we’re not really sure who Lydon will play as of yet. I can see the correlation with Activity, but I’m also feeling a little bit of Saw as well.
Stashwick has played several roles on various TV show including House, CSI: Miami, Burn Notice as well as FX’s Justified. He’ll be seen next in Stephen Gyllenhaal‘s Grassroots,...

The project was acquired to be produced by Blumhouses Jason Blum, and Marc Platt and Adam Siegel of Marc Platt Productions. Bertino and his Unbroken Pictures partner Adrienne Biddle will also be producers. Blum and Platt have term deals at the studio. Blum is producer of the Paranormal Activity films. Like Paranormal Activity, the Bertino spec was being sent around town under the title Mockingbird, and is based on found footage. Bertino is not aboard to direct the film.
