James Rebhorn, the hugely popular character actor, has died at the age of 65. He passed away at his home on Friday afternoon (March 21).
Rebhorn is known for starring in Scent of a Woman opposite Al Pacino as Mr Trask and Independence Day as Secretary of Defence Albert Nimziki.
His many other works include The Game as Jim Feingold, The Talented Mr Ripley as shipping magnate Herbert Greenleaf and Meet the Parents as Dr Larry Banks.
Rebhorn featured in numerous television shows as well, including recurring parts in Law & Order, Big Lake, Enlightened and White Collar.
He most recently played Carrie Mathison's father Frank in the Showtime drama Homeland.
The actor also appeared as the prosecutor - District Attorney Hoyt - in Seinfeld's series finale in 1998, and had guest spots on 30 Rock and The Good Wife.
