Given that this film is both a sequel and a biographical portrayal, it treads a delicate line between historical accuracy and creative embellishment, leaving audiences to ponder the balance of truth versus dramatization. The storyline is well-crafted, with a screenplay that hits the mark in few scenes, and stumbles in a few scenes. The dialogue shines, enhancing the narrative with its quality.

The filmmakers have evidently made an effort to avoid the excesses typical of mainstream commercial cinema, aiming for a more measured approach. The direction is commendable, guiding the film with a steady hand.

Jiva's portrayal of Jagan is outstanding, capturing the essence of the character with a compelling performance. Ketaki brings Bharathi to life with a portrayal that is nothing short of remarkable, while Aashrita, Sudhakar, Manjrekar, and the rest of the cast deliver solid performances. Mammootty, in his brief appearances, manages to captivate and leave a lasting impression, adding a layer of gravitas to the film.

The musical score complements the narrative well, and the production values are fine, ensuring the film's quality. For those drawn to its premise, the film might give a satisfying experience, may not be the same for others.

Political and Emotional Drama
ronankivikas9 February 2024
Director Mahi V Raghav's Jiiva and Mammootty-starrer Yatra 2, the sequel to the 2019 film Yatra, released on Thursday. The film is a biopic on the life of the current Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, while the previous film was based on his father, ex-CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy's life. A monsoon night. The then chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy (Mammootty), stirs out of bed earlier than usual and walks to the foyer to find his son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (Jiiva) also unable to sleep. They are unable to express their feeling of unease in words. At YSR's request, Jagan hands him a glass of water, and, as he begins to walk away, he turns to look at him, unaware that this would be the last time. YSR takes a sip of the water. The thunder sounds louder and he grimaces for a fleeting second. In director Mahi V Raghav's Telugu film Yatra 2, this scene is a crucial one.

The scene envelops within it the brief interaction between the father and the son against the ominous weather conditions and makes us wonder what if YSR had lent an ear to his wife Vijayalakshmi or Vijayamma's (Ashrita Vemuganti) apprehensions and deferred his chopper ride? The sequel to the 2019 YSR biopic, Yatra, narrates the events leading up to the rise of YS Jagan. Its eulogising tone and the timing of the film's release, months before the elections, makes its intentions clear. While YSR and Jagan are depicted as leaders who do not err, the opponents are all wily and crooked. Within that framework, it also tries to be a compelling story of a father and a son. It finds that groove in a few scenes such as this interaction on the rainy night, before it becomes an increasingly one-sided political drama.

100% fictional...0% reality
ravitman13 February 2024
A biography has to show all the ups and downs, this film just focuses on political agenda of jagan. Where is reality? He's a corrupted politician, recently i travlled a place called mopi devi temple near machilipatnam, i saw his posters "siddam" and when i look down i saw worst roads, zero development and people are still living near river where buffalo bathing, laundry, and people bathing there, is this the development? How come his party associates get paid 5000 from people's money and collecting valuable data ? Some people might hate me because of my comment, but if you are ready to experience his worst development go to any places in AP and check.

Overhyped and worst propaganda film
narendrawas9 February 2024
Over glorifying a corrupt politician and his corrupt father to whitewash all the scams and crimes committed is what Yatra 2 is. The exact word to describe this is called PROPAGANDA. Though the director had tried his level best to portray this corrupt roach as God-sent, the box office collections tell you a different story. Lol, this is 2024 , who even watches these kind of Propaganda movies in tollywood.

It's just an advertisement to prove that present AP cm is clean and clear, Hope people of Andra Pradesh knows better & don't understand why actor like jeeva agreed to do such movies he lost his stardom.

Best biopic of all time
charanreddypingili9 February 2024
This is the best biopic I have ever watched. The director shows the real YSR and the hurdles that YS Jagan garu has faced after his father's death. The movie brings tears watching some of the exceptional scenes of late YSR. Mammotty and Jiiva have lived the characters. Lastly,I would like to thank Director Mahi V Raghav gaaru and Producer Shiva Meka garu for giving us such a beautiful movie which remembered us to the past. As a fan of late YSR and YS Jagan garu,I admire this movie and request everyone to watch the movie and witness the remarkable story of the inspiring leaders in the contemporary Indian politics.

Slow narration and unnecessary elevations
u-40683-255688 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I like the way Mahi Raghav narrates the story in his previous movies. This movie lavks that crispiness. Looks like he has taken one side and decided to elevate protagonist character which is difficult to believe in certain scenes. Narration is slow and spend more time on recreating public available videos. Will be a feast for Jagan fans but a boring disappoint effort for neutral public.

Mahi should have work more with his editor to make it more interesting. Music and acting is too good. Mahi should have focussed on the movie content than characters. Looks like there is so much influence by others on this movie. I don't believe it's a pure story telling from Mahi Raghav.

Yatra2 was superb , emotional and heart touching.
cpandiri9 February 2024
Thank you #MahiVraghav ! The way u deal with #Yatra2 was superb , emotional and heart touching.

It's a movie made to rethink the values, rethink how you are towards with the fellow being.

Mammootty reprises his role as YS Rajasekhar Reddy in the second part, making a brief appearance. His presence enhances the significance of the role.

Jiiva's portrayal of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is impressive. His method acting is exceptional.

Suzanne Bernert's portrayal of Madam bears a striking resemblance to Sonia Gandhi, making her an ideal choice for the role.

Subhalekha Sudhakar adds lot of strength to the story.

Truly Inspirational
raj14819 February 2024
Real story of YSR and YSJ... truly inspiring and emotional movie. It's a great movie everyone should watch and learn how dedication and commitment will lead to success. Being humble, honest and committed to people is something every politician should strive to achieve. Transformation of society and people to live better and provide them basic amenities are the best qualities of leaders, both YSR and YSJ sincerely followed. Heartfelt congratulations to Director Mahi Ragav garu and Producer Shiva Meka garu. This is an emotional movie similar to what we experienced in Yatra1, wishing the best to the entire crew.

Disaster: The Worst Movie of the Decade"
rahulking-939388 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Lead actor Jeeva's performance in "Yatra 2" is nothing short of disastrous. His wooden delivery and lack of emotional range reduce what little credibility the film may have had. Supporting actors fare no better, with performances that range from forgettable to cringe-inducing. It's evident that the casting director missed the mark by a wide margin.

Direction: Directorial ineptitude is on full display in "Yatra 2," as the film stumbles from one poorly executed scene to the next. The pacing is glacial, with momentum grinding to a halt at every turn.

Production Value: From amateurish cinematography to laughable special effects, the production value of "Yatra 2" is abysmally low. It's as if the filmmakers made a conscious effort to cut corners at every opportunity, resulting in a final product that looks and feels like a high school AV club project gone wrong. Even the most forgiving viewers will struggle to find anything redeeming about the film's technical aspects.

Overall: "Yatra 2" is a cinematic travesty that serves as a cautionary tale for aspiring filmmakers everywhere. It's a soul-crushing experience that will leave audiences questioning the very concept of entertainment. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this abomination masquerading as a movie.

A real story
sampathkatta9 February 2024
"Yatra 2" emerges as a blockbuster sequel, directed by Mahi V Raghav and featuring Jiiva and Mammootty, delving into the political saga of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Jiiva's portrayal of Jagan showcases remarkable depth, while Mammootty's dignified presence as YSR adds weight to the narrative. The film seamlessly weaves archival footage with cinematic sequences, enhancing authenticity. Dialogues like "Devudu nammakam, YSR nijam" resonate, invoking nostalgia. Mahi V Raghav's storytelling prowess ensures a captivating narrative, supported by Santhosh Narayan's evocative score and Madhie's cinematography. Despite occasional visual disparities, the film's technical aspects elevate the viewing experience. Overall, "Yatra 2" stands as a cinematic triumph, offering a compelling exploration of political resilience and familial legacy, likely to resonate across diverse audiences, solidifying its status as a blockbuster.

Very impressed
ramakrishnacmk9 February 2024
The way director narrated the story was compelling and very precise to the point without much noise. All characters were an apt fit to the actors. Conflict with congress central govt. And a new regional party was well presented. The story and rise of an young businessman, moving to politics in tough times and achieving the goal is inspirational to watch. Overall, amazing movie and I am glad I watched it. Must watch movie for the next generations and learn about Indian politics during congress times, at-least a part of it. India needs young and regional leaders who knows the local culture and issues better and we need to get away from the decade old thinking of divide and rule.

An unprofessional's rise to a leader!
auri-9358512 May 2024
Disobeying norms, making people wait is treated as psychological warfare in bharatha, but such behavior is highly unprofessional. YSR makes people wait just to teach them a lesson! Sounds like he took the wrong side of 'do unto others what you expect others to do unto you'.

The movie portrays the sad state of affairs where a noob gets elected as chief minister just by the qualification of his birth and wealth, rather than deeds. The man with the biggest assets becomes the leader.

I did not quite follow how a politician who has clout of money and power is transformed to divinity in this movie. Hero worship at its best.

Warning: Spoilers
The film is a moving portrayal of Y. S. Jagan's leadership qualities, depicting how he transforms impossibilities into possibilities with daring plans and compassion for the underprivileged. His impactful service transcends political affiliations, caste, and religion, earning him admiration as a hero. Everyone pledges to vote to Y. S. Jagan for his unwavering dedication to serving the people. Johar YSR! Jai Jagan!

Also, the enthusiasm among the audience was tremendous, entire theatre was full and everyone was cheering the success of YS Jagan. YSRCP cadre did good branding near the theatre to attract more audience.

Propaganda at the peak
samidufol4 May 2024
I had high hopes for "Yatra 2" given the success of its predecessor, but unfortunately, this sequel missed the mark on several fronts. The plot felt recycled and uninspired, lacking the depth and emotional resonance that made the original film so engaging. Instead of offering new insights or a fresh perspective, "Yatra 2" seemed content to rehash old themes without any significant development or twists.

The performances, while decent, could not save the film from its sluggish pacing and predictable storyline. The lead actors, who usually bring a certain charisma and intensity to their roles, appeared to be going through the motions, perhaps constrained by the lackluster script.

Visually, the movie also failed to impress. The cinematography was surprisingly flat, with none of the striking imagery or captivating shots that we've come to expect from big-budget productions. It felt as if the production values were cut back, which did no favors to a film needing to make a strong impression.

Moreover, the editing was choppy, making the narrative feel disjointed and confusing at times. This was particularly disappointing because it disrupted the flow of what could have potentially been powerful scenes. The soundtrack, usually a highlight in such films, was forgettable and failed to enhance the emotional tone of the movie.

Overall, "Yatra 2" was a major letdown that failed to capture the magic of its predecessor. It's a clear example of how sequels can falter when they offer nothing new to their audiences, relying too heavily on past successes. I wouldn't recommend spending money on this one unless you're a completist determined to see every film in the franchise.

Missed the mark, YSR and Jagan are not the same!
mintdeep4 May 2024
"Yatra 2" was a letdown, to say the least. It felt like just another rerun, super predictable and kind of empty-like they just tried to milk the success of the first movie without any of the original's emotional depth or intrigue. The acting was meh, with everyone seeming pretty disengaged, probably due to the super weak script. It felt more like a propaganda film, with its messages pushed way too forcefully and lacking any subtlety. Visually, there was nothing to write home about, and the editing made the whole thing feel even more disjointed. The music, usually a redeeming feature, was forgettable this time around. Plus, the pacing was all over the place, making it hard to stay interested. There was a real chance here to build on the first film's legacy, but instead, they turned it into a bland, preachy mess. Honestly, just skip it. It's not worth the hype or your money.

Jai Jagan!
namith-723218 February 2024
"Yatra 2" takes the baton from its predecessor and seamlessly continues the saga of the Reddy political dynasty, focusing this time on Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's journey as he carries forward the mantle left by his illustrious father, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The film is not just a biopic; it is a poignant exploration of the enduring legacy and the challenges faced by the next generation in the complex realm of Indian politics.

The narrative unfolds with a meticulous blend of storytelling, capturing the essence of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's early days in politics, his struggles, and the daunting responsibility he inherited. The screenplay maintains a delicate balance, delving into the personal and political dimensions of Jagan's life, offering audiences a deeper understanding of the man behind the Chief Minister's chair.

The lead actor once again delivers a compelling performance, seamlessly transitioning into the role of Jagan and embodying the charisma and determination that define the political scion. The supporting cast contributes significantly, portraying key figures in Jagan's political journey and familial relationships with authenticity.

"Yatra 2" excels in cinematography, capturing the grandeur of political landscapes and the intimate moments of personal reflection. The visual storytelling is complemented by a stirring musical score that heightens the emotional resonance of pivotal scenes.

What sets this sequel apart is its exploration of the emotional weight carried by Jagan as he grapples with the expectations of his father's legacy. The film reflects on the challenges he faces, both in continuing the transformative policies of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and in establishing his own identity as a leader.

The sequel successfully maintains the unbiased approach established in the first part, presenting a nuanced perspective on Jagan's political journey. It doesn't shy away from depicting the controversies and criticisms faced by the Chief Minister, providing a comprehensive view of the complex dynamics of Andhra Pradesh politics.

"Yatra 2" is not just a cinematic journey through political corridors; it's a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and the indomitable spirit of leadership. The film beautifully captures the essence of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's role in carrying forward the legacy of his father, making it a compelling watch for both political enthusiasts and those intrigued by the human stories behind the headlines.

A father death to A son success
naveenjkc13 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Opposite people will change their mind after seeing movie promising is not a word it is duty to fulfill #yatra2 #keka.

Yatra 2 makes 'the party high command' and its senior leaders seem more of a caricature than actual political opponents. There's also a passing scene where we see former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh waiting to meet 'Madam' who refuses to cut short her coffee break! At least Naidu's characterisations, in the later portions, get a slightly better deal showing some political moves.

While the 'odarpu yatra' and the rise of the son to a leader are narrated with some conviction, the last half hour between Jagan and Naidu gets increasingly lopsided, long-drawn and dull. Jiiva's performance and that of Ashrita Vemuganti (as YS Vijayalakshmi) and Ketaki Narayan (as YS Bharati), keep us somewhat engaged in the final portions. The two women have an uncanny resemblance to the real-life characters they are portraying.

Mahi Raghav also finds the scope to include dialogues such as 'Devudu nammakam, YSR nijam (God is a belief, YSR is truth)', which works like a mass moment that draws whistles in the hall. In another scene, the reference to strong-willed Kadapa son of the soil also elicits cheers.

However, these moments aren't enough to prop up a narrative that gets tiresome despite all the yatras. The film depicts events that led to Jagan launching his own political party, breaking away from the Progress (Congress) party and shows how he lost the 2014 elections to Naidu. However, it refrains from discussing the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and the formation of Telangana in 2014 in detail. The character of Y S Sharmila is also conspicuous by her absence. The film stays focussed on portraying the rise of the son as a leader who wins the elections in 2019 to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Worth watching with family, it has no type of any adult scenes like normal movies
thegoldendragonios11 February 2024
It is one of the best biopics of Telugu politicians, it is a successful continuation from part 1 of Yatra. Even if you're not into politics or ysr fan, you can watch this movie with your family and have fun. Because, this film has no adult scenes or anything close to that. Nowadays every film has adult songs or scenes, so that atleast youth can watch their movie and make it a hit movie even though it's story is bad. So, definitely watch this movie and you will love watching this and your time will not be wasted.

At the beginning of the movie, the story runs very smooth at the beginning and slows a bit after. But after the interval, the movie goes so quickly that you didn't expect the movie ending. It also has emotional drama and father-son bonding, and at the ending, a heart warming speech is there which will make you remember it entire your life. So just give it a try, you will definitely enjoy this family movie.

Awesome movie!
suneethareddyb2 March 2024
Majority of the people believe that this story is exactly what happened in real. All the characters lived their role in this biopic. The life of the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. This is superbly made movie. Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy (born 21 December 1972), also known as Y. S. Jagan or mononymously Jagan, is an Indian politician currently serving as the 17th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is the founder and president of the Indian political party, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He is also the son of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Her Mother Y. S. Vijayamma, is the chairperson of YSR Congress Party.
