THIS got funding?! There's hope for us all.

Two strangers meet on a coach ride through the West Midlands. Half asleep the two begin to kiss and touch leading to quick sex next time the coach stops. However no casual sexual encounter is without some price to pay.

Shown as part of the Birmingham Film Festival this short was one of eight to be shown that were produced by Screen West Midlands and were predominately set in the Midlands using Midlands based actors and crew. This was easily the worst of the eight films and I make no bones about it.

The plot is obvious but yet silly. No expansion on the two people is given, to go from sitting next to one another to having full sex with no words exchanged is not real to me. Secondly it has nowhere to go except a supposedly clever/ironic play on the cost of immorality. However even this doesn't work very well as the characters aren't developed enough to even sort of care about.

The worst element of the film is the soundtrack - it is a heavy sort of guitar tune that only made me think of a cheap porno thriller on channel 5 TV. In fact that's exactly what it becomes with a rubbish sex scene. The whole film is ruined by that music because it shapes your expectations so completely that you start wishing it was over from the first 30 seconds onwards.

Overall this was the only one of the eight films that I disliked - but boy, did I dislike it with a passion. This inspired me to try and make a short film - I thought that if someone can access funding to make THAT then surely anyone should be able to have a stab.
