A bit like painting. Beautifull painting.

This film needs to be seen as an adaptation of the novel Znachor (The Quack) written by Tadeusz Dolega-Mistowicz, not a remake of Hoffman's 1981 film. Here a slightly different story, closer in some aspects to the book, a beautiful film, a bit like a painting, cinematography, music, great acting by Leszek Lichota - the title Quack, Anna Szymanczyk -Zoska (mill owner), Maria Kowalska - Marysia (Professor Wilczur's daughter), Ignacy Liss - the Count and others. A wonderful and moving story about love, family, sacrifice for others, principles, good and evil. All this in the idyllic atmosphere of a Polish village in the inter-war period. I had the impression of being transported back in time to Poland before the Second World War, with its extraordinary social and cultural diversity. The music complemented by folk songs, the set design and costumes complete the whole. A must-see, you won't regret it.
