Kumo Desu ga, Nanika? (2021)
pretty good, has pacing issues
Overall, not bad! Totally watchable. And pretty interesting premise considering all the other isekai animes out there. The animation is good too with a good bit of action.
The main problem i've seen is pacing. I have found myself fast forwarding multiple times to get past boring, unnecessary scenes, or even something that they already mentioned previously but brought up again.
I also have one more complaint, if you watch the japanese version, the MC (spider) has a really shrill voice that gets annoying. She's constantly squealing. There are also episodes that barely mention whats going on with the spider.
But overall, pretty fun watch, with a handful of episodes which is nice when most anime out there are only 12 episodes.
The Garden: Commune or Cult (2023)
interesting show, not a cult
These are my, random person on the internet, opinions. I'm here for the drama. This show definitely introduced drama. I know the premise is "commune or cult?" but it's really not a cult. When theres a cult there are a few things that come to mind that don't appear in the Garden. For one, yeah there is a kind of de facto "leader" but no one is expected to revere them. They arent claiming to be above anyone. And no one is asking for money either. And there's no forced recruitment. All of those things are crucial to how a cult operates, and it's nonexistent in the garden. No one is forced to do anything.
That said, it's not a very efficient commune either. There actually does need to be a leader to handle tough decisions. I know it sounds "culty" but what do you think the president is? Someone needs to be in charge, it could even be an agreed upon group of leaders. But they really hate that idea for some reason. They have an interesting idea with the council, but that's ineffective as well, because one person can shoot the whole idea down. There are a lot of conflicting ideas that kind of ruin the progress of what the garden could be. Too many big egos in one place doesn't make it a cult, but it does make it an ineffective commune. Just my two cents!
Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman. (2022)
basically... meh
The major thing is how annoying the main love interest (akari) is. She teases jiro to no end and is so hypocritical with her actions, as if he's not a human being with feelings of his own. She only thinks about herself and doesn't consider any consequence to her actions. If this were real life i would love to slap her! Stop being annoying!!! Of course it all works out in the end (i guess??) but i wish she'd be more considerate in the beginning. And no one calls her out on her antics either, like can someone please put her in her place?! Also the ending was terrible, no one ends up with anyone. Waste of my time.
Ojou to Banken-kun (2023)
why??
It was certainly a Decision to make the romantic counterpart for a high school girl.......... her adoptive father. Not a spoiler bc they mention it right at the beginning. Like pls. Personally i don't like the age gap either, but that's not even the part that bugs me, i can get over that. It's not like he's 40, he's like 26. Yeah not great but i can deal. But this man is HER FATHER. He raised her since she was a toddler!!! That part really weirds me out. I did power through the episodes that are released (like 6 or 7?) and i do like the animation and the actual pacing of the romance. I just hate that it's her dad. In my case target audience not reached, but perhaps people with an electra complex would enjoy it.
Itazura na Kiss (2008)
it's alright
Obviously meant as a romantic comedy, this delivers some comedy and some romance. I gave it a 6/10 purely on the comedy aspect. But don't expect anything too deep with the romance. I thought this might be an "enemies to lovers" type but it's really just a one sided love, and the main character (kotoko) is pretty irritating, and seems to have literally zero strong points which makes her super unlikable. After a while her blunders get annoying. They couldve developed the plot more and made kotoko less desperate, which is really cringe in and of itself. But i did watch all of it so theres that. If you want a casual show you don't really have to care about, then this is the show for you.
Red Lights (2012)
movie makes no sense
What did i just watch? Dumbest movie i've seen in a long time, it really irritated me, i couldn't even finish it. First of all, paranormal activity is real, and the "psychologists" are basically professional debunkers and have an entire class dedicated to this. That's annoying enough for me. But setting that aside, the storyline felt rushed, the introduction of new characters didn't make sense, the dialogue is bad with a lot of yelling, and there is a sudden death which goes unexplained and does nothing to push the story forward. Even for the non-believers out there, this movie is just bleh. Which seems weird considering all the great actors and actresses in it. How did they mess up a movie with an all star cast? Watch it or don't, i recommend skipping it.
Shin Sekai Yori (2012)
truly amazing storytelling. wow
This is a masterpiece. You would never guess from the title photo that this is a dark and twisted anime, in the best way. You never know where the story will take you, and it keeps unravelling until the very end. Definitely includes some unsettling scenes, but if that's right up your alley (as is is mine) then you won't be disappointed. Genres include horror, mystery, thriller, romance, sci-fi. The music also is top tier, really aids in the brilliance of this story. Plenty of interesting characters as well. Definitely a binger, but luckily there are a good handful of episodes. Happy watching, prepare yourself!
Juuni Kokuki (2002)
WOW
Amazing anime, i'm floored! I love an amazing female lead. Binged the whole thing. Luckily there are 45 eps but i need someone to pick this up and make more. Not just another isekai!! WATCH IT.
Resident Evil (2022)
i mean.... yeah it is bad but also had to finish
I watched the whole thing, a fan of RE movies but don't play video games. This is basically a drama series about a girl who just can't stop messing everything up, in a post-apocalyptic world. But i couldn't stop watching, i guess they got me with their little plot twists, which keep happening throughout the series. Very little action, of which i think only one (1) action scene was decent. Characters are indeed insufferable. Lance reddick is good, all the other actors are bad. An entertaining watch i suppose if you either enjoy laughing at bad tv, or you're one of those people who just have to know how (insert mystery here) happened, of which i am the latter. Ending was stupid but i guess i'll be a fool and watch the new season if it comes out bc i want to know the answers!
Kingdom (2012)
just what i was looking for
I can't believe i stumbled upon this gem!! I wanted another high calibre anime after finishing one piece, and this delivered. Can't stop watching, it has an interesting plot and characters, great visuals, and fight scenes keep getting better. Highly recommend!!
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)
the ultimate show
One of the best shows to ever air!!! So many complex elements, storylines, animation, character arcs, action, fantasy, humor; it's perfection. Marketed as a children's show but it is excellent for any age. Do yourself a favor and watch this series once in your lifetime. Beautiful from start to end.
Watashi ga Motete Dousunda (2016)
it was enjoyable
This anime is so funny and all the characters are great so i had a good time watching, but the ending upset me :'-) why couldn't she have had some character development!? I wanted her to end up with somebody, or all of them!, but then she chose the anime character in the end.... i cry. But i still liked the show overall.
Kaichou wa meido-sama! (2010)
AHHHH YES
What an amazing anime. This is literally what got me into romance anime, initially i didn't think that genre was for me but i was wrong!! Maid sama is the best!!!!!! Such a cute story and so funny ugh i'm obsessed. So yes you should 100% watch it.
