Shigunaru 100 (2019)
Fun battle royale'ish vibe
Really hooked you up from the start. Kinda predictable who's gonna be the last one but you're in it for the ride not the destination lol There are parts that makes your eye roll with the decision some of them make but it was fun figuring out the mystery. It didn't drag too much too.
*spoilers
Technically Wada should be dead coz he "hurt" the other students with the beer rain. Also what's up why the two childhood friends wants to do the suic*de when they were kids. They needed more backstory coz they were sooo young to think about that. It was also rule bending when both of the guys were fighting at the end lol Lastly I wished to see the suffering of the teacher more instead of an implied one.
Smile (2022)
Something for this generation but not for me
It's a well made film for sure but if you're a fan of horror especially asian horror. You have seen this one done. I can literally see the inspiration from the different shots like the ring, the grudge etc. The actress gave it her all and you can see the way she spirals down. I also wish they showed more smiles and make her paranoid in a crowd. The positive side is that this introduces the genre again to this generation.
TF to whoever made this change to have 600 word requirement on IMDB review. Some reviews that are better short and sweet and goes to the point quick. Some people just want to see a if they wanna watch the movie or not. *rolls eyes.
Chakushin ari Final (2006)
Enjoyable
This was a good 3rd installation of the franchise and utilize the "forward this and you die" scare. The only thing I didn't like is the deaf boyfriend. I know they wanted some famous korean actor to be in the movie for star pull but his character didn't contribute that well for the plot at all. He was like a shoo in that school trip.
Chakushin ari (2003)
Still in year 2022
Rewatched it this year and for an old horror film it still hooked me and holds up pretty well. I love the shots the director made. The scene in the tv station was cool was kinda breaking the 4th wall with the media thing. Worth the rewatch!
Lyst (2017)
Relentless second half
The first half was run of the mill is this is real or nah. The second half was relentless and won't let you chill for a moment. Very good bloody scenes but the continuous money shot made me lose some of my patience lol But at the end I kinda get what she is feeling the feeling of trauma never goes away and everyone is a "suspect". You can kill it but it never really goes away.
The Cleansing Hour (2019)
The ending saved it
The first half was the usual and fun possession with a modern twitch..I mean twist lol..if you held on to the never ending cleansing act you will be rewarded with the nice ending.
It was like "the sadness" movie but possession version that could be worth another movie idea too lol.
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
Could have been executed better
I get what the movie is trying to say but it was not smooth and a bit forceful and could have been more subtle in approach. That lil bit in the end will really make people thumbs down it lol.
They're Outside (2020)
Annoying bloke
One thing that is a positive here is how annoying the main male character here. Good job on how he acted that he made me want to choke him through the screen. Anyway I stuck to the end coz I want to see him suffer a lil bit but nah film didn't gave me that. A just right tubi tv find again lol.
Hebi ni piasu (2008)
Horny and depressing
I went in for the smut scenes but was smacked with depression lol
The style and vibe of the characters were cool. It was interesting to watch. Based on the other reviews, it makes me want to read the book. It right up in my alley with the josei/seinen manga vibe. It got pretty interesting at the second half. I wanted to see the choice she's gonna make between the two but there was a good twist. I wanted more at end but the movie said no.
Inner Demons (2014)
Good b horror
It was okay for a b horror. After watching a lot of found footage this one mixes up some reality inner demons with drug use. I wanted more of the "signs" there's a lot of hang time but that's found footage for you.
Spoiler:
I also wanted to see some "slaughter" in the facility and to see the annoying people die but I was not given the satisfaction. The climax at the house was also good but the ending was so cliche.
The Deeper You Dig (2019)
Second half saved it
The first half was so slow but glad I hang on. It was pretty fun how the second half roll. Another criticism is the color pallet of the movie, I know it's trying to set the mood but it felt forced. It can work on another kind of movie but not this one. Pretty cool effects and signs.
Dark Web: The Mystery Box (2020)
Worst movie I have stumbled upon
DO NOT WATCH COZ THERE'S NOTHING TO WATCH
So I was browsing tubi tv and read the description and was up to a B horror movie. God dang waited for a while for something to happen coz usually these kind of movies have some payoff at the end..made me sleepy woke up and force my self to fast forward it to see if something but nada.
The Stairs (2021)
Basic turn your brain off movie
My title says it all. Lol It was okay.
Turn your brain off especially at the end.
SPOILERS
The ending was nonsense that the boy was set free by the government lol The boy was kinda psychopathic too when the stairs was burning. Was he not sad that Grandpa Jean is gonna be stuck there lol or the boy's acting was so deadpan..i thought he was sinister coz of the acting especially at the start where they were hunting..
Shook (2021)
Tried to be camp
The movie wants to be camp but needs more of it. It feels basic and needs something to umph it up. The main actress was a good crier tho. The character was fun when it does stupid decisions. Made me laugh.
The Foreigner (2017)
subdued but still enjoyable to watch
It's not an in your face Jackie chan movie but the stillness and quiet skills he uses is still enjoyable to watch. I really like how he's a third party in this. I have no knowledge of IRA but get the gist of it and anticipated who betrays who. More grounded in "reality" but it's a good watch. Thumbs up.
The Final Wish (2018)
Boring
Boring asf..even when I'm drunk..the cheaper made movies made me look at the screen more than this..zzz..i now know why there's a lot review in prime..it's low rating reviews.
Sorjonen: Muraalimurhat (2021)
It's a sequel
If you did not watch Bordertown you'll get confused. I went in blind in this movie and just clicked absentmindedly browsing Netflix. The description's first few lines didn't really state that it was a sequel. Minutes into the movie I realize it was the characters from Bordertown. It was nice seeing them again but the story and the twist after twist are just okay. I really like the ending tho.
The Whole Truth (2021)
Too many twist
Never knew that one day I would say that a movie has too many twist lol but this one was slamming it hard at the end like nonstop. The movie was clean and I like how bright it is for a horror movie. Okay to watch when drunk/bored.
The Collingswood Story (2002)
Not that bad
Watched so many B rated movies and for its time (2002) I could see why this could be good. If you watch this now, you can feel that it might be dated and that you have seen this already. It was still fun seeing characters use the old internet stuff.
Lured (2019)
It could be better
I think a high school film club can do better than this lol I finished it so it i guess it's not that bad. The story needs a lil something and the audience was spoon-fed too much. The ending shot/scene was ummmm cringy.
June 9 (2008)
Made me sleep
I watched this film twice and twice I dozed off. I know there's a payoff on these kinds of movie but the wait was so long. I put 2 stars coz when the shit happens the gore woke me up.
Doppel (2020)
Title says it all
The title spoils the movie for me. It's pretty straight forward with the story. It's a good watch when you're drunk and don't wanna think too much.
The Special (2020)
Straightforward
There's some bad acting but for a B horror I didn't get bored watching it. Very straightforward and I enjoyed the graphics at the end.
The Model (2016)
Unsettling
The tone of the movie is good. I don't feel relax watching the stuff that happens. You can see that is a grounded in reality that this can happen to a model. The ending is good too. It her choice if she wants to go back that hellish glamorous world of fashion or back to her comfort zone.
Be My Cat: A Film for Anne (2015)
For found footage fans
As one reviewer says it's for found footage fans. At first I found the main character to be annoying and no charm but pushed through to see what will happen. I kinda got used him and found him funny at times. There is no "seen" gore which is sometimes the payoff in these films so it's okay. It's a 5.5 than 6 for me.
