We're No Angels (1955)
Good, but see The Young in Heart,1938
Good movie and plot, highlighted by great actors and actresses with a good script, but somewhat metered directing.
But to me, it seems like a slightly lessor imitation of The Young in Heart (1938), which in my opinion is similar in plot, but has more spirit and heart appeal plus a smoother flow. Not saying We're No Angels was a later, or lessor, version of The Young in Heart, but I'd recommend you track the earlier movie down and watch it. Admittedly, I'm maybe a bit prejudice as it's one of my favorites from that era), being a wonderful movie with great actors and actresses. ................
Murder, She Wrote (1984)
horrible attempt
So far from reality that it goes past Forbidden Planet. Why would any LEO allow her to review or even be at the crime scene? Why would anyone talk to her while she's "investigating?" Why doesn't (almost every) suspect tell her to piss off and ask the arresting office for a lawyer? Why does every villain confess when confronted with BS evidence, and without an attorney?
It's just a sad excuse of the depths TV series sunk to get viewers.
It's almost as horrible as Matlock or Diagnosis Murder. Go with slightly better ones, like Rockford, Remington Steele, or dozens of others that don't completely insult the viewer's intelligence.
The Wild Wild West: The Night That Terror Stalked the Town (1965)
the ending kills it
Hard to rate a Dr. Loveless episode so low, especially because almost all of it is great. But one can thank the writers for the horrid and illogical ending. We have the two Jim's arguing to Dr. Loveless about which of them is actually Janus. So, the good (and highly intelligent) doctor goes completely clueless and has to depend on a woman to kiss each and tell him which is the real Jim. Why wouldn't he have simply asked both of them to say where he and Janus first met, or maybe provide Janus' last name? The real Jim couldn't answer except to maybe try to quickly repeat what the real Janus says.
Hawaii Five-O: Diary of a Gun (1975)
Dumb. Very dumb
Another of several hour long TV stinkers with the same BS plot. All of which used anti-gun stupidity to try to justify the need for gun control. This may be the worse thanks to the constantly repeated term "Saturday night special" - an anti-poor person phrase used by richer people who can affort better quality defensive tools/protection.
