Rick and Morty: Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty (2019)
It's still Rick and Morty
Over the years I've grown to love rick and morty the same way one would love a best friend or favorite family member. Not every moment you spend with them is going to be absolutely incredible or revelatory, but you love to spend time with them and enjoy having them around. Was this episode the best in the series? No. Not even close. But just like real life, not every day is going to be a homerun. Not every episode is going to be a homerun. But I still want to be a part of the adventure and be along for the ride becuase I love the universe they have created. I still had plenty of laughs in this episode and broderick makes a delightfully creepy cat. I really dont think the hate for this episode is warranted. Some days we are more serious and thought provoking, and other days we are silly and want to make goofy s*ut jokes and orgy jokes. Rick and morty is no different, and there's nothing wrong with that. Stop being so critical and have fun. Take a trip to florida.
Oceans Rising (2017)
Awesome movie bro!
I see a lot of hate on this movie and it's because you have to have a pretty high IQ to understand what's going on. I personally know all about gluons and quark-gluon plasma, so this movie came pretty naturally to me. It was an intellectual thrill ride from start to finish and it was refreshing to witness phenomal actors who did their homework and provided an informative outlook on the dangers our world could face. Would highly reccommend to any smart people out there.
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Much flashier than the first *very minor spoilers*
Let me start by saying that the conjuring 2 is a very entertaining movie that is well worth a watch. However it doesn't have that "instant horror classic" feel that the first one did. One of the main differences in this movie was that there was much more effort put into special effects and trying too hard to make the evil characters creepy. At times it felt a bit like I was watching the first insidious movie, with the bad guys caked in makeup and always making quick jerking motions. The second conjuring movie also doesn't have that same sense of dread and realism that the first one has. Rather it feels as though I am just watching a well made horror movie. This takes away from the actual lingering fear that there was so much of in the first movie. It seems as though to try to combat this, more jump scares were added which I'm not a huge fan of, (even though some of the jump scares in this were top notch and even managed to catch me off guard). The build up in the first conjuring was phenomenal as the movie starts off completely normal and you feel as nothing can wrong. This movie however starts right off the bat by showing you evil entities, which takes away from the buildup and prepares you for what's to come. It feels like a very cheap start that is just paying homage to the first movie and flaunting the fact that Ed and Loraine deal with "big bad evil spirits". So to summarize, it didn't give that same sense of sheer horror that the first one managed to, but Its still an unsettling film that has high entertainment value.
Summer Camp (2015)
Very interesting concept
Before I begin, let me say that I would honestly give this movie a solid 6-6.5 by IMDb standards. I rate it a 10 because the 5.3 just doesn't do it justice. This movie is a fresh addition to the plague genre and it wasn't as repetitive and predictable as other movies of this genre. In addition, the acting is well done and doesn't give a cheesy B-Movie feel to the film, which is kinda what I was expecting before I started watching this, but I was pleasantly surprised. One of the complaints about this movie is that it is very shaky. It does have shaky moments, but overall, I'd say that anytime the camera does shake, it is earned and warranted. I watched this film in SD and had no problem with the camera work. If you are a fan of plague movies or zombie type movies, I would definitely recommend giving this film a try.
The Purge: Election Year (2016)
Excellent thriller that has you screaming for more
If you liked the first 2 purges, or at least the second one, you'll love this. So far the only negative reviews I've seen come from conservatives who really hate liberals and their "agenda". Granted this movie is heavy on politics and the main bad guys are portrayed as all white old men. However there are plenty of gang fights and killings as well as a group of psychotic murderous black girls, contrary to the reviews that say "all the white people are depicted as bad, and all the minorities are depicted as good". If you are a white supremacist or ultra conservative, yeah, you probably won't like this movie and will give it a bad review just because of your political beliefs. However if you can put all that aside and just enjoy the movie for the action packed thrill ride that it is, you won't be let down. I hope for more purges in the future, but if not, it was a hell of a ride.
Infini (2015)
Very worthwhile sci-fi film
I'm very surprised that this film did not receive a higher rating, because I thought it was absolutely outstanding. One of the trademarks of a good actor is immersion, and the cast of this movie lived on set to be immersed in this world. That being said, I thought the acting was superb and the story was very interesting. Some people will argue that it steals from other science fiction movies, however it incorporates what it takes into this completely new universe that it creates. I did not not have super high expectations for this film, which is probably why I was blown away, and if I had to give it an honest rating, I would probably give it a solid 8.0 (but since the rating is so low on here, I gave it a 10). Worst case scenario, you will think this movie is a hybrid of movies you have already seen, but it still incorporates its own unique themes that a driven forward by the performance that is given. On top of that, it is very thought provoking and leaves you wondering. I am the type of person who is all about the future and technological advancements, and this movie makes me excited as to what our own future might hold.
