Knightfall (2017)
Cheap effects and so-so acting makes this one a complete disappointment
Well, just started with this series, since I like history in general and well, Vikings is one of my top shows these days so I said, "why not?".
First of all, actors are in meh in general; I didn't believe them when telling their stories.
Special effects are so lame that I can compare them to those seen in those low-budget movies that have similar names to blockbusters and come out a little earlier but are complete garbage (i.e., Operation Dunkirk http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6836772).
I will give it a second chance and continue watching the episodes, but I don't feel engaged enough, though.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Nice twist but rather long movie and less action than expected
This particular movie's story is a great twist to the whole series. You'll see why he does what he does, but then, you spent already an hour with almost no action at all!
These movies are made for us to see racing, action scenes, fights, hot babes, etc. You'll see them, don't worry, but perhaps not that many as some of us might expected.
2:15 hours passed rather longer than usual. So a less-complex story would perfectly fit in 1:45 with more explosions and that stuff we seek on flicks like this one.
24: Legacy (2016)
Review after 4 episodes
I mean, we all wanted to see Jack Bauer on screen kicking asses once more. I did too, but it's about time to let that beloved character go.
This new series is again about highly trained and tech-skillful terrorist's haunting the US's top agency CTU. It has all the past stuff like a superb tactics agent (loved that Edgar Stiles reference), a rogue leader (former leader in this case), a complete ass and stick-to-the-rules head.
Unfortunately for Middle East people, you are the bad guys once more. Not that I don't like it, but I don't see cartel kingpins to become a terrorist threat to US government.
I'm kind of liking it so far. Perhaps based on my guy Bauer, and even with their faulty scenes filled with tech gaps, terrorists always one step ahead of the "good fellas", ridiculous moments (police station escape scene), I will continue to its conclusion.
It it gets renewed (which its highly possible), I will be a fanboy once again.
Mr. Robot (2015)
One of the best mind-blowing series ever.
So, I just ended watching Mr. Robot S01 and I must say I'm far more than impressed by it. One of the best series I've seen in a long time not just for the plot, the acting, but the whole world and constant changes it shows.
It started just for the hacking theme of it. First episode, I realized it was way more than that; taking the hacking/tech side, it's the most accurate depiction on TV and on film ever made. I know, it has to have some fiction but the names, software, actions used are like "wow" in terms of reality.
There are several kinds of characters that all bond perfectly in the series. Several well-known actors along with less or unknown ones make this a perfect mix that delivers flawless acting in your screen.
Ready for S02? Well, the series has been renewed already, and hope it keeps its pace because is crazy.
You cannot just blink or answer your phone because you will miss a key scene that will change everything else. One of the series that I just need to rewind a couple of times to get the whole scene. That is Mr. Robot.
La belle verte (1996)
A complete new vision of where we come from
This movie gives a new perspective about things. It goes way beyond our roots as human beings and teach us to appreciate the very basic of out way of life.
Since it was written, directed and acted by Coline Serreau, whose mind have created one of the most interesting "futures" or "origins" of the human race. Because it differs from all the robots, clones, zombies, chaos, destruction, desolation, etc. that we have seen across the ages.
Humorously presented, it touches a very special feeling in us as humans and leaves us thinking why, really, are we here.
It may be kind of hard to see for some people because it touches all of our main aspects in life: politics, religion, classes and races. But make no mistake, this picture should be seen by everybody. You won't regret.
The Judge (2014)
Good to see Downey Jr. without suit
I'm not a fan of superhero-related movies, so I haven't seen him lately. I remember Zodiac and it left me with good impressions of him. Now this is a way different acting, powerful, excellent. Great response to a very complex character which is facing big issues and yet seems to handle the situation.
Mr Duvall is another superb actor who delivers an epic acting which adds a first class legacy that puts him with the greatest actors ever.
Great support from Vincent D'Onofrio and Vera Farmiga in particular, I enjoyed a lot their acting too, though, Billy Bob Thornton puts the cherry on the pie with his role. Excellent cast for an excellent movie.
The movie itself is kind of complex and constantly changing its course, so you have to be always listening to fully understand why things happen. Plot and developing will keep you focused and you will not feel more than 2 hours have passed when you reach the end.
Good to see that Robert Downey Jr. is not only Iron Man, though, a great actor with a promising career and yet to see, excellent movies like this one.
