Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)
A Satisfying Conclusion
Batman : Arkham Knight Review
The Arkham series by rocksteady has finally come to an end . The game revolves around Scarecrow and his woeful wish to see Batman banished and terrorize the one thing he has sworn to protect : Gotham.
The story continues 9 months after the events of Arkham City (Which I will not spoil if you haven't experienced it) . Scarecrow uses his fear toxin to evacuate the city and makes Gotham his playground to put batman to a final test . He is joined by a new villain 'Arkham knight' to help him take the Bat down as he hold a sort of personal grudge against batman.
I had a constant fear that the story would end up to be a little too simplistic with a reveal of who the Arkham Knight is and a series of events leading to take down scare crow . However , I was surprised to see a rather more sophisticated and more complex story with a surprising return of a beloved character who you probably already guessed but don't worry , this won't spoil your experience with the game as he makes his appearance pretty early on. The character however is used very cleverly by rocksteady and I have to give them credit for it. The story can be a little confusing at times but you'll realize that it was meant to be and the events that take place throughout the story can be explained due to the fact that batman has been infected with a small amount of fear toxin. Not to worry , this also takes place very early on in the game. The plot begins with a very basic opening , where batman's objective seems straightforward and nothing to pull your interest other than the gameplay . Almost an hour and a half in and you'll find yourself confused with many of the events taking place and it's just a blast of interesting plot lines that come into play , which made the inner me very happy, and found myself questioning every moment of the game : 'How and when does this take place?' . It picks up its pace from there till the end of the game. It consists of many sequences that'll probably freak you out (Trust me, I had a heart attack). And That is exactly the kind of story that was required and Rocksteady have done a phenomenal job at it . Poison Ivy makes a return , Harley Quinn , Oracle(Barbra Gordon) etc. Gordon himself plays a heavier role than previous titles and also having a small but effective narrative control over the story. The disappointment comes when rocksteady seemed to make it very obvious who would be the Arkham knight . Although fans of the game will be happy that they pulled his backstory from a beloved segment in the comics . However the reveal seemed too obvious , but luckily rocksteady did not keep the reveal as a climax however reveal who he truly is at least a good bit before the ending . It also came to my attention that it seemed as though rocksteady wanted us to know who the Arkham knight is before batman could. The end however, was satisfying enough and had clever aspects to it that you'll have to play and find out for yourself.
The game play present in the game is instantly familiar to anyone whose played the series' previous titles but manages to add effective new enemy types , a new takedown mechanic and environmental takedowns that help further improve the already fantastic combat system . Predator sections of the game are as satisfying as it was before and the the investigative segments of the game were handled brilliantly . The game has challenging segments where you'll have figure your way out using your gadgets and the bat mobile and they have been the most well done puzzle segments in the series . You'd often wonder how they even came up with it . The gadgets are back with a few new ones and nifty new tricks with the old.
The biggest addition to the game has been the bat mobile . Rocksteady's developed have put incredible time into its details and how it's works . However the bat mobile may sometimes feel like it over stays it's welcome because of its large segments of tank battles using its battle mode . Although I could enjoy it , other friends of mine said they had grown tired of numerous segments of tank battles. This has been the case for many , however this isn't a game breaker. Initially people do have trouble handling the vehicle , but a few hours in and they'll be getting along well. But it isn't easy , give it time. It has been blended with the world really well and used very cleverly , it's remote control feature is also one that's thought provokingly well used. There was always a feeling of life in the vehicle and that's what rocksteady was definitely planning to make you feel.
Coming to the open world of Gotham , you'll be more than impressed with the work they've done on the world, incredibly well detailed and atmospheric like it should be, filled with tall building and intensely lit skyscrapers that adds great verticality to the game. This along with ambient soundtracks playing in the background all provoked to make this game truly immersive .
The soundtrack by Nick Arundel and David Buckley deserves recognition as they add to the overall immersive feel of the game composing tracks for almost every segment of the game from predator segments to emotional and thrilling sequences.
A complete closure for the game can be seen when the game is 100% complete.
The Walking Dead: Four Walls and a Roof (2014)
Heading a good direction!
Four walls and a roof was intense as the first two episodes. In terms of how the first 2 episodes had gone , this isn't a disappointing episode or a downfall at all. There's definitely more to come our way . Things definitely change up a bit after the End of the episode . The big question is ...how are they going to manage pulling of intensity in the next 5 episodes and pushing the so far well done writing forward.
The episode really shows the walking dead has potential to be good throughout all the way to the mid season . Due to one moment on this episode , I feel that the writers seem confident on moving to a different story arc thats going to have us gripped .
Nonetheless, great episode , hoping they keep the 'edge of the seat' feeling for as long as possible. That's what the first three episodes have accomplished in doing , time and time again. Kudos to the cast and crew for that !
Overall: 9.3
The Walking Dead: Strangers (2014)
Keep this form and season 5 can be the best!
Having the season premiere out of the way , the show continues to go forward , in the best ways . Slight changes in shooting styles have made the episodes a tad bit more horrifying than before . The episode is starting to go more closer to the comics then ever, which is good . The episode had tense moments in it and zombies that looked frightening as he** , It sends down a blood curdling sensation , especially during the last 5 minutes .
Overall a great episode that'll send chills down your spine and brings big questions as to what the group will do next . Season 5 is going really well with just two episodes down. Let's hope they can keep this up for the coming episodes. Well written and well executed !
The Walking Dead: No Sanctuary (2014)
A premiere we deserved!
The walking dead season 5 premiere has become one of the best premiere since the pilot . The blood , the violence , the emotions , the history , the return are key words on this episode . In fact , it was so well done that the episode just flew past the viewers .
Season 5 has started off promisingly . The make up was outstanding and the zombies look gnarly as hell. Some scenes will make you grab tight your pillow , sofa or whatever your sitting on .
We can see the slow but steady transformation that I'm sure is just beginning of Farmer Rick to Bada** Rick . Greg Nicotero has done a phenomenal job with the opener , he deserves some credit as well. Scott M. Gimple requires equal praise as the show runner . The way the last 3 episodes of season 4 came out was really well done and this episode lives up to every bit of it, if not better.
The episode ended satisfying many for sure , but I'd recommend sitting down for a little longer if the fans really want to loose their sh**.
The Walking Dead: The Grove (2014)
Extremely disturbing
Just a quick look through, A deeply disturbing episode that can stand out of all episodes after the mid season finale. It has to be like everyone is saying one of the darkest episodes of the walking dead. Throughout the episode Lizzy is an unbearable character , you'd probably be yelling at your TV actually saying "shut up already" . After the mid season finale episodes were mainly focused on character development . With the previous episode 'Alone' it seems to be the last this season which continues character development . I'm guessing the show is gonna take a quick change of pace for the final three starting with this one . I'd say this was a really good episode dark and disturbing . A few people were disappointed with the episode 'still' which was pure character development . This episode and 'alone' have made up for it . All I can say is , be prepared for a thrilling finale at the least which will build anticipation for season 5.
Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
Batman Arkham origins - review
This title is a prequel which is sometimes hard to develop in the case of games. Game play wise this is stunning, continuing the great combat system and gadgets present in the previous arkham games along with some new ones,This without doubt is good enough to keep the feel of the game intact .visually arkham origins does a pretty good job, having the open world expanded up to twice as much as last time. adding Gotham city into the game is something worth taking a look at or roaming around as batman. One of the greatest things about the Arkham series was that it always gave the player an experiences as to how it feels to be batman. This time around they managed to keep the feeling just as great as the previous titles. Batman himself looks quite stunning in the game. The story for this game by far was one of the best written story in the series and can at least attain a title of top 10 best story games ever. The story gives of impressive character relation development between Batman, joker and a few other characters including Alfred(Bruce waynes butler). There are small flaws in the game like, frame lags at certain points. Its rarely seen in the game. Those who are here to get the game for its story, gameplay or being general fans of arkham games will be in for a blast. Especially the story. It is understandable why the new studios did not want to add too many things and change the games combat system or add major changes that can change the feel of the game. After all the combat and predator game play etc are what makes this series great. The boss fights are some of the most impressive stuffs in the game, boss fights seem more head on with the villain then making it look cinematic. The overall game was a great ride and only gets me hyped for the rumored sequel to arkham city under rocksteady.
gameplay : 9/10 Story: 10/10 visuals: 9/10 Feel of the game : 9.5/10 ovrall: 9.0/10
Dark,Thrilling and a Brilliant story
Sherlock (2010)
Absolutely brilliant!!!!!
For those who love mystery and Sherlock will and must love this TV series of Sherlock Holmes . Benedict cumberbatch is the most suited actor for taking the role of Sherlock and so is Martin freeman the best choice for being Dr.Watson. When I first saw It on BBC I thought it would be boring and would have gone for the Robert Downey Jr. Movie. But the second I saw the first episode I could not wait to see the rest of it and I promise you the minute I finished watching the first or second episode I spent hours and hours of time on deducting. This is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen and I tell all of you out there reading this to go and watch it as soon as possible. Can't wait for the rest of the series to come out. The writing is excellent on the story of every episode and well illustrated on the basis of the books by author Conan Doyle
