Little Big League (1994)
A childhood classic
Little Big League was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Growing up in Minnesota I thought it was the coolest thing that there was a movie about our Twins, and a good movie at that. Being a baseball player is every kids' dream, and owning one would be the next best thing. This movie, unlike some sports films, accurately shows the game of baseball and what it is like on and off the field. The acting is fairly good and the characters and story line are not one dimensional and boring like some kid's movies. It is humorous but can be very serious at times. Watching it makes me feel young again and reminds me of my love for baseball. Little Big League is a movie that both kids and adults can enjoy.
Romeo and Juliet (1968)
The best movie version of Romeo and Juliet.
Out of the many Romeo and Juliet movies this one will give you the best experience. Romeo and Juliet are played by two young attractive people, the acting is great, the costumes are very true to the era, the story sticks pretty close to Shakespeare's original play, the effects-well it was the sixties. From seeing a couple of the other adaptations of Shakespeare's famous play this is the one I would recommend most. Romeo and Juliet are young like they would have been in real life, it isn't modernized (in a good way), and the whole thing looks very authentic. The PG rating might be slightly outdated but I don't know how much else there is to say other than it is overall a very beautifully done movie and is the best Romeo and Juliet out there; a must see for Shakespeare fans.
Avatar (2009)
AMAZING effects, boring, unoriginal idea.
When watching Avatar you almost feel like you could reach out and touch the big blue people. It is a movie I feel that is part of a small group of movies that was actually enhanced by 3D. It provided one of the best visual experiences I have seen at a movie, but unfortunately some cool effects can't make up for the predictable, over-used plot. After about the first six and a half minutes any seven year old could predict the ending. Being able to make a prediction about a movie and being 100 percent accurate sure does make it a lot less exciting. I can say though that the movie itself provided a good experience, and I didn't hate the movie. I just think that for the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on this movie they could have gotten a writer who could think of a somewhat new storyline. I guess I could call this the greatest movie I ever saw...if it was the only movie I ever saw.
The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009)
Tom Six is one sick man
I had heard much talk about The Human Centipede and decided to watch it one day. Unfortunately everybody had failed to mention what a sick, disturbing, and overall awful movie it was. If I could I would give you the pros and cons of the movie, but there is almost nothing good worth mentioning about the movie. Here are some of the negatives.
1. Terrible acting-The two main girls were almost painful to watch.
2. No depth-The characters are one-dimensional and we know almost nothing about them. There is little depth in the story-line also, I still don't know what was wrong with that doctor.
3. Why are there no phones? When whats-her-name escapes she runs through the entire house but never stops to pick up a cordless phone. This is the 21st century right?
4. Just plain disturbing-After watching this movie I was about to puke. Just sitting here typing about it makes me feel nauseous.
Overall this is one of the worst movies I have seen. Anyone who can sit through this movie and enjoy it must have a sick mind, let alone the guy who actually came up with the idea. If it wasn't for a couple funny parts in the beginning (mostly do to the terribly poor acting) then this movie would have been an easy 1 star.
