Evil (2019)
Close to Omen series, very gripping especially if you are a believer
The running plot among the every episode story is very good, it connects to the the episodes story as well.
The antagonist is truly evil and the writers have really scripted him well.
The priest going through priesthood struggles is done well.
If you are a believer then this will scare you, here I would draw comparison with Omen
Really the episodes will keep you wanting for more, to see how the story proceeds. Have not seen any TV series that comes close to this in terms of supernatural.
If you liked Omen you will love this.
10 Kalpanakal (2016)
Psycho Killer on a killing spree
Psycho killer on the loose, chased by Meera Jasmine.
Anoop Menon has also lost someone, some suspense on this aspect. Nice build up, ending was nice, few slow moments too, overall watchable.
Broken (2017)
Beautiful heartfelt drama
Full disclosure: I am biased to this because I am catholic.
Sean Bean, the first picture that comes to our mind when we take his name is Ned Stark in GoT, but he plays the role of a Priest to absolute perfection in this. The trials and travails of the people of his parish, is melancholy in hyperbole. Some of it is guaranteed to bring you to shed a tear. Enough characters and drama enough to keep you hooked from episode 2. The story which is obviously fiction has every reason to have actually played out in real, being played out somewhere out there even. Somehow this reminds me of Breaking Bad, dunno why. It's worth your while to give this go among the Homelands and Walking Dead's, for me its up there with the best so far, hope the rest of it (episodes) doesn't disappoint.
Krrish 3 (2013)
Illogical spoof of X-Men
If you have watched any of the X-Men movies then do yourself a favour and miss this movie by a mile. I mean there are many ways to copy movies but this was a really pathetic attempt. A virus that looks like a bacteria. Telekinesis that needs fingers to control! There are so many holes in the plot that you will stop counting, none I mean none of it makes any sense, as my friend said, leave your brains at home to watch this one. Frankly, I think the director could have tried to make at least things a little more logical, everything they will try to explain to you like it was possible had huge gaping holes. Copying is okay but removing all logic from it is not! I could go on on what else made no sense, but then that would be classified as spoiler..
I took my 6 year old to watch it but after watching some horryfying scenes, he was asking if he can go home, so its not even a kids movie.
Please please, we all know Krish 4 will be coming soon, make it with some sense of logic and not for people with IQ of less than 70!
Ripped from various movies like, X-Men, Iron Man, Batman Series and many others, yeah all convoluted to this madness..
Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike (2012)
Do not watch this movie if you have read the book
I have been a fan of Ayn Rand books (Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged) since I was a teenager, I must have read them countless times, I always pick up the book and read it from random pages, the story is imprinted in my head, and so are the characters. And I have made up my mind to not watch this movie ever. I don't want characters I have imagined in my head for two decades to take life as actors in front of me, what does that leave our imaginations to... I am glad I did not read Tolkien, or else I may have decided to do the same for the LOTR movies..(For me all LOTR movies along with the Hobbit part 1 is 10/10) I want to hold on to what's original in my head, and maybe what I am saying here may be a manifestation/effect of the same philosophy that Ayn Rand herself propagates in her books.. I have been deeply impacted by her books, and I can say the same for 2 people with whom I shared her books with.
Watch the movie if you have not read the book, or maybe read the book and see if you have the guts to watch the movie afterwards, whatever you do, do write here your experience, after all who is john galt!
BTW - It was interesting to read that the StarTrek Voyager doctor plays the doctor Robert in this movie!
The Edge (1997)
You will come back for more
In simple words Awesome. It's like the thriller book that you cannot keep down unless the last page is finished. Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin at their best, Hopkins is has this uncanny calmness about him throughout the movie, it spooks you and apparently spooks Alecs character in the film. The bear is simply awesome, how can they make them act like this, its almost impossible. I have seen this movie about 5-6 times, I still would watch it with the same interest, almost as if the story will take a different turn this time! A classic cult movie, a must watch, I am out of words for this one, definitely in my top 10 list of movies.
Triangle (2009)
a true brain teaser that leaves you asking for more
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, even after you have watched the movie, this one will keep lingering in your thoughts, can't remember last time when any movie was able to do this to me. In fact the fact that the cast is relatively unknown works out to its advantage. A programmer would term this as a recursion! Its been 3 months since I watched this movie I am still wondering about some things in the movie. It leaves you haunted, I think each person who watches this movie could have his/her own interpretation of it. My sister had a different interpretation to the riddle and I think her answer was also a possibility. I badly want to speak to the writer/director on what is their take on the riddle. I have so many questions on it, watching it three times has not answered it yet, yes you will want to watch this more than once.
If you want to get haunted/perplexed go watch this one.
The Sting (1973)
a truly classic movie
I was always a Robert Redford fan, so I am bound to be biased. This movie is a true classic, Robert Redford is quite raw in this film unlike the sophisticated air about him in his other movies, I cant say I have watched many of his old movies. This is truly a timeless movies you can still watch it and be awed. Paul Newman is also quite a towering figure throughout the movie, is has enough twists in the plot and unexpectedness to keep you seated for the full 3 hours! Have not seen Robert Shaw who plays Doyle Lonnegan the villain of this movie in many other films, but his performance stands out, he will creep you out as a villain, I cant think of many who have been able to have such an effect in the role of a villain, and his limping makes it really uncanny.
If you are a movie buff you should definitely not miss this one.
It's 10/10 for me.
