Joe Dirt (2001)
About As Best as Spade has Been...
I've never really been a fan of David Spade. Other than this or his movies with Farley, I haven't kept up with him. This is his best movie! He is actually LIKEABLE in this movie! Even though a lot is pathos for Joe's shxxxy luck. His "good luck" often turns into a pile of crap, (happens twice in this movie)!
Next year will be the 20th anniversary of Joe Dirt. I am only writing this because it is on Comedy Channel now. I've seen these movies 5 or 6 times. Still good for an easy laugh after a long day!
Anyway, you don't have to be a fan of Spade to enjoy this movie! One reviewer called this an "SNL Ripoff". True, it was breakout role for yet another SNL alumni. (Damn, they have put out so many future comedy movie actors)!!
This movie has a lot of other pluses, a great supporting cast. Highlights are Christopher "I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron" Walken, and Kid "I'm E-Litrit" Rock! Brittany Daniel is the sexiest, most lovable country girl anyone could ever want!
It's and evening of cheap, easy laughs, and you even care about and like Joe in the end! It seems to have still remained funny to me after all these year. But watch it again, and get someone new to watch it with you, and eat a bunch of pot brownies before you watch, just like I did!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Best Movie in years 10/10
I really can't add more praise than I have read from 95% of the previous reviews. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone! But please try to see it on the big screen rather than wait for the DVD/Bluray!
Mainly, just a warning....When seeing this, the previews included a movie about Elton John, "Rocketman". I predict this will become a new genre of popular movies; rehashes of music stars of the 60's/70's/80's.
I can just see a Jimi Hendrix movie, another Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, even a Kiss movie and more! This is not all bad if it gets new audiences into the classic rock music. However, most bands and musicians are simply not that interesting in their personal lives. Queen and Freddy Mercury are an exception as a band, and Freddy was very complex and unique as a character.
Claws (2017)
Naughty Niecy!
Well, your enjoyment of this show hinges on how well you like the lead, Niecy Nash. I think she does a great job on this show, both in the drama and comedy aspects. Plus, she looks sexy as hell on this show! She does a very good job of pulling off the "Good Girl doing bad things to get a Good Result". She has her heart in the right place, (along with everything else)! Dean Norris, (Hank from Breaking Bad), plays the bad guy, and he over- acts over the top. I can forgive this and don't consider it totally "serious" drama, but acceptable entertainment. Enjoy!
Lost in Space: The Questing Beast (1967)
Worst of the worst@
This episode makes me embarrassed to admit that I liked this show at one time. I STILL enjoy reruns of the better episodes. Season 2 was the worst, and went through long stretches of 4,5,6 horrible episodes in a row. If I could get the original film/tapes, and all copies...I would happily destroy them for the benefit of the fans, the cast, and anyone associated with them!! They are that bad. The show as a whole is still one of my favorite childhood memories...but these episodes I would rather forget forever!
The Walking Dead (2010)
Eugene's Day Out!
My review of this show is like the Frosted Mini-Wheats commercial. The "adult" side of me says this was a filler episode, it did nothing to advance the main plot.
But the "kid" side of me actually enjoyed this episode! It was interesting, amusing, and entertaining to me! Eugene is a character I want to see evolve into something better. I liked Negan in this episode, (until the end). He showed his intelligence in not treating Eugene the same as Daryl. He stroked Eugene's self-esteem and ego to get what he wants.
What is with Eugene? Is he a virgin or what? He gets to spend time with 3 women and he wants to play video games? While clutching on his pickle? No metaphors there, right? I just wonder if Negan's wives were being straight, or just playing him to get the suicide pills? Was this Negan's plan? Or did they want the pills to try to kill Negan? Anyway, he did the right thing not to give them the pills. Loved the scene where he cut in line and bullsh!tted his way to get anything he wants, then starts taking dumb crap.
Dwight...I liked his scenes too, and they are really trying to get us to sympathize with him. I really do not understand why he framed the doctor, though. Maybe he thought there just had to be some one to be the fall guy for Negan's vengeance? WHY?....Did Negan kill the doctor? Doctors are hard to come by. He could have just fried his face, or cut off his legs and he could still function as a doctor. Negan said they will just get the other Dr. Carson, (which will cause problems for Maggie). Why, in this universe there are only 2 doctors and they are both named Carson? Is there some significance in this?
I loved at the end. Negan goes into his speech, and Eugene interrupts, "I'm Negan" before Negan can finish the question! Has Eugene been seduced by the dark side? Or is he just buying time?
Finally, Dwight and Eugene are together. "I don't think we have been properly introduced, but I'm the guy who tried to bite your dick off"! I really enjoyed this episode!
The Walking Dead: Service (2016)
Slowly Reaching the Boiling Point
Yes, this season has been very hard, watching the demoralization and humiliation of our group. More than once, I kept thinking, "Do it, do it!", when there seemed ample opportunity to take out Negan. Like when Carl was pointing the gun at him, or handed it to Rick. There were only a couple of guys with him and Rick could have nailed them all! You can see Rick is near the end of putting up with this and will have a plan soon. Last season was full of triumph, almost too many...
Blowing up a large group of Saviors with a rocket launcher, Taking out a herd of walkers hand-to-hand...without a single loss, Taking out the Savior outpost, Carol going Rambo a couple of times. Now it swings the other way.
Negan takes all their mattresses, only to burn them. What a Dick!
Negan did make me laugh though, with his reaction to Father Gabriel! I kind of feel the same way! I don't know if he has found inner peace, or just lost his mind!
Mr. Woodcock (2007)
It Did Touch Me
Just saw it. Not the worst movie I've ever seen, but never in my life have I felt such hatred for a movie character. I thought Bad Santa looked like Mother Teresa next to this guy. I wouldn't call it great acting on Thornton's part, (he's totally "wooden", no pun intended), he just seems good at being a dick. I literally wanted to bury a claw hammer into this guy's skull, and I'm not a violent person! I kept BEGGING for Stifler to kick his ass. But he was such a puss that I started to hate him, too. Susan Sarandon is still hot, I don't know why she's in this loser. 'Laughed 2 times: when Stifler's buddy got caught on video talking about Sarandon's boobs, and then when that piece of crap Woodcock ate the asphalt. HAHAHA!!! Really hated the end, trying to be all feel good. I wanted to end in Woodcock's death. I know, it's just a movie. The best thing I can say is that it DID get a reaction out of me, I was not apathetic about it.
