Freakshow (2007 Video)

Look beyond the very special people
4 March 2007
What I found interesting about this movie is something that most everyone seems to over look.

Most are disturbed by the "very special people" in the movie and cannot see beyond that. If you take the time to watch and analyze the movie you will see the metaphors, symbolism, and images that give a whole new debt to this movie. Which is why I believe Freakshow will go on to become a classic.

Look at the metaphors seen in the images of the Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel is a metaphor for the circle of life. When you see the four villains, in the movie, fixing and starting the wheel, sub-consciously you are meant to realize how these evil people believe that they can control the life and death of their victims.

The carousel is an obvious metaphor for the ying yang of life. The carousel is a symbol of fun, joy and childhood, yet in the last sequence it looks and sounds ominous as in a nightmare. So is life. Life is to be enjoyed yet evilness keeps creeping up in our everyday lives.

There even more metaphors and symbolisms found in the movie, but is up to you to find them.

Side Show (1981 TV Movie)
Campy but Fun
29 July 2002
Side Show is a campy movie, but it is fun to watch. You can see how the circus was run at that time. The back drop for this movie was Circus Vargas, and many of the technical support, stunt people, and show folks were actual Circus Vargas employees. On the trapeze were Silvia Lancheros, the catcher Raul Lancheros. The ring master was Clifford E. Vargas himself. The Lion Tamer was Laurence Grant. Clifford E. Vargas passed away several years ago. However, Silvia and Raul Lancheros, and Larry Grant continue working at Circus Vargas.

Quiero ser estrella (1997–1999)
Super Talent Show
28 July 2002
Quiero Ser Estrella! Was a super show with super talented kids from all over the world. Most from Spanish speaking countries. The kids ranged in ages from four years old to thirteen years old. The over all winner was "Denisse Lara" (denisselara.com) Talentes included singing, dancing, acrobatics, magic, circus acts, modeling, news anchoring, reporting, and juggling. Many of the talents came from Venezuela, where the children belonged to "El Ballet de Marjorie Flores" and were members of "El Club de Los Tigritos." The children were judge by a panel of celebreties.

The Nick Cannon Show (2002–2003)
Takin' Ova the Circus
21 July 2002
Nick Cannon is a clown in his own right. He is great at physical comedy. His style of comedy come through as Nick takes over Circus Vargas, on an episode to be aired on September 21, 2002.

We, at the Circus, enjoy his sense of humor, and rapport with his audience. Nick constantly acknowledged the children that came up to him for an autograph, or just to say, "hello."

He even took time to clown around with VeeKay the Clown, and the Children of Circus Vargas.

His crew was just as friendly and attentive. We hope he takes over the circus again.

Sally Jessy Raphael (1983–2002)
Memories From the Wolf Man
21 July 2002
In 1999, Sally, invited Manuel Diaz, The Mexican Wolfman to appear on the show, in an episode titled "Odd Odd News." I went along as an interpreter. Sally was a perfect host, especially to Manuel. Where others were afraid to approach him because of his exotic appearance, Sally walked right up to him, and they shared a nice conversation. Manuel, who is now in Mexico, always remembers with fondness, his trip to New York, and meeting Sally Jesse Raphael.

Wolf Girl (2001)
Greetings from the Real Wolf Girl
19 July 2002
Lili, the Real Wolf Girl, sends her Greetings. She saw the movie when it first aired. We would like to know when it will air again. Here her comments: "The movie was fun, but a little violent. Tim Curry was great as the Outside Talker. Victoria was wonderful and beautiful. Her hair pattern was was well done. My brother and I, and several cousins were born with Hypertrichosis, including my uncle, and his granddaughters. So we know what is like to be in the sideshow. So we did not like the "cage scenes." Believe or not, No wolf people, including Jo-Jo the Dog Face boy, were ever introduced in a cage. Over all the movie was fun to watch. A sequel would be nice, especially, with a happy ending. Lili" As translated and posted by Dieguin

Belinda Not Daniela
14 December 2001
Belinda Schull is the main actress in "Amigos X Siempre" (2000), along side Martin Ricca. Daniela Lujan was in "El Diario de Daniela" (1999) with Martin Ricca. "Amigos X Siempre" shows that children have the right to enjoy their lives, be heard, respected, and loved. Every child should have the right to an opinion. Boys & Girls are equally capable to reach their goals in life. Friendship is forever!

El diario de Daniela (1998–2000)
La Mas Divertida Del Mundo
11 December 2001
"El Diario de Daniela" (Daniela's Diary) has been one of the best of the

youth oriented "Telenovelas" Great acting by the children, especially Daniela Lujan (Daniela Monroy), Martin Ricca (Martin), Oscar Larios (Chuy), and my personal favorite, Yulyenette Anaya as Lidi, Daniela's best friend. A young Mexican/African actress. Daniela described Yulyenette as, "The most fun of them all!"
