Three for the Road (1987)
Hmmmm, odd...
Anyone else find it odd this one has never been released on any home video format? No BluRay, no DVD, not even VHS. It makes me wonder why.
Batwoman: Gore on Canvas (2021)
Jack Napier
So, they really need to watch the canon breakers...
In this version, everyone knows Jack Napier is the Joker?
First off, nobody knows who the Joker really is (well, almost nobody).
And if it *is* Jack Napier, then this follows the '89 movie. The focus on artwork supports that. However only Batman knew on that one, and I doubt he broadcast the fact. How did everyone else find out? (quick aside - Joker didn't die then - he said so himself - his last words were "Sometimes I just kill myself...")
But after the Infinite Earths bit, *this* is the version of the Joker that stuck?
The one *everybody* knows about?
Seems like a real waste just for a painting. They nailed down Jack Napier as the Joker for *this*? And for a fake at that.
Titans (2018)
Jason Todd *and* Tim Drake?
I am really curious how they can have both of these characters active for the 3rd season. By comic book canon, these two cannot exist as Robin at the same time. Jason Todd has to be dead at the hands of the Joker for Tim Drake to become Robin. They have Barbara Gordon in a wheelchair already. So The Killing Joke has happened. What about A Death In The Family?
That's one you can't mess with, folks. Tim Drake has no reason to exist as Robin if Jason Todd is still alive.
Hap and Leonard (2016)
After watching the 3rd Season, I'll never watch again
Dear writers of this show:
I just finished watching the 3rd Season, and I wanted you to know that you have permanently lost a viewer.
The way you wrapped up Florida's story was the lamest, most pointless and most useless ending for a character I have ever seen.
After putting her through all of that, and have her survive only to be killed by a flash flood while no one else was even scratched, you created the ultimate waste of time to watch. You turned her character into nothing but Pathos, after creating a very strong female character.
I want the six hours I spent watching the 3rd season back. You made it impossible for me to ever enjoy these characters again.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
The Orville (2017)
I disagree with the critics....
I think Seth and company are doing a great thing. I was expecting "A Million Ways to Die in Space" and was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the show.
They've gone back to the Roddenberry plan, and it works. They've done social commentary couched in Science Fiction, just like Gene wanted. And they avoid the "always a feel good, easy ending" syndrome the later shows took on. Not everything works out, and it makes the show even more meaningful.
Seth, don't listen to the critics. This show is fantastic! Keep it up!! And I'll keep watching!
And Fox, PLEASE don't screw this up like you've done with most niche shows!!! (Firefly, The Tick, etc, etc...)
The Defenders (2017)
Now, I never read the Iron Fist comic books...
Possible Spoiler Alert But someone tell me... Is Danny Rand this big an idiot in the comic books? It seems like the entire last half of the season is dealing with how stupid Rand is. The minute his blood gets up, he stops thinking and doesn't want to hear from any one who *is* thinking.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Spider Sense?
Excellent movie! The real Peter Parker has now entered the stage.
However, I do have one nit to pick.
What happened to the old Spider Sense? It never tingled once. Several situations would have been helped by it. It seems like they just totally forgot about it.
What's the deal, writers? Did you forget a Spidey staple?
Rock & Rule (1983)
A fine example of animation created for a more mature audience.
Before the anime explosion, most animation was targeted for the elementary school audience. This is one of the exceptions. Hot on the heels of Heavy Metal came this gem from Nelvana. The introduction lets you know right off that you're in for a fable. It's not 'Once Upon A Time' or 'A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy...etc', but this isn't Mother Goose. Where Heavy Metal was blatant with it's adult themes, this film is more subtle about it. While there is no nudity, (at least in the American release... I understand the Canadian cut is a bit racier in that department), the sexuality is evident. The representation of Evil is smoother, with many almost-subliminal images sprinkled throughout the scenes involving the villain. Where drug use is a joke in Heavy Metal, here it is dealt with in a truer fashion. While both are science fiction, Rock and Rule is the more realistic story. Interesting, when you consider that Heavy Metal's characters consist mainly of humans and Rock and Rule doesn't have a human in it. And finally, the demon raised at the climax of the film is one of the wildest pieces of animation produced before of some of the more twisted images coming out of Japan today.
