For years many fans of Pixar films have become familiar with a particular voice in their movies. That voice is actor and comedian John Ratzenberger. While many growing up in the 1980s remember him as Cliff Calvin on the popular sitcom Cheers, children from the mid-1990s to the late 2010s have heard his voice in other places.
Starting in the 1995 animated film Toy Story as Hamm the piggy bank, the actor went on to appear in 23 films for the animation studio. He was P.T. Flea in A Bug’s Life, Yeti in Monsters Inc., The Underminer in The Incredibles, Mack the Truck in Cars, and many more. In essence he became the Stan Lee of Pixar.
However, in recent years, he has been noticeably absent. His last vocal appearance was in 2020’s Onward as Fennwick the Cyclops. There was apparently a cameo in 2020’s Soul, but it was more...

The once-booming metropolis known as New York City has, in recent years, devolved into a town of violence and crime. Random assaults take place almost daily as aggression seems to skyrocket. No matter who you are there’s always a chance of witnessing a crime.
Now well-known actor Steve Buscemi is the latest victim of these acts of aggression as the actor was attacked by a man unprovoked. The man punched the actor in the face and quickly fled the scene. Buscemi was rushed to a nearby hospital and is said to have suffered swelling to the left side of his face and left eye.
In a statement made by his publicist: “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to him...

Aisha Tyler is singing the praises of the upcoming season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. In fact, she’s so confident in its quality, she even told TV Insider (while promoting her Disney+ series Monsters at Work), it’s the “best season of television we’ve ever made.” And yes, “that includes all 16 previous seasons” of the spinoff and its parent show Criminal Minds. Tyler said Season 17, premiering Thursday, June 16 on Paramount+ with its first two episodes of 10, is such a standout because, “It’s in the fact that we moved to streaming, and we’re able to be more authentic and more grounded and more gritty… And the show is longer, so we’re able to spend more time in the emotional moments and also in the horror moments. The episodes this season have been extraordinary.” Tyler returns to the director’s chair for Episode 7, “which is an absolute doozy,...

At the end of the 2001 movie “Monsters, Inc.,” the titular company decides to cut ties with tradition and do away with human children’s screams as a power source in favor of laughter. It was a fun tag that put a nice bow on Sulley’s character growth after meeting the human Boo. What the movie doesn’t show is whether the larger world of Monstropolis will be open to such a drastic change to their traditions and culture. That is at the heart of Disney+’s “Monsters at Work,” which, in its second season, brought workplace existentialism and the environmental revolution to the popular Pixar franchise — along with the surprise return of Steve Buscemi’s Randall Boggs. (More on that later.)
“The end of ‘Monsters, Inc.’ is great for the audience, but that doesn’t necessarily extend to the larger city and the larger world,” “Monsters at Work” showrunner Kevin Deters told IndieWire.

They don’t make kids programming like they used to. It used to be that nearly every animated kids title came with jokes for the adults to get and the kids to grow into, in addition to age-appropriate gags and life lessons for the younger viewers. Nowadays, kids programming doesn’t seem to reflect a belief that young viewers can get a well-written joke. But that’s not the case with Monsters at Work. Aubrey Plaza and other cast members from 2013’s Monsters University will return to voice their characters again for the upcoming second season of Monsters at Work on Disney+.
Disney Pixar’s 2001 classic Monsters Inc. introduced the world to Mike and Sully, famously brought to life by Billy Crystal and John Goodman, respectively. Then, in 2013, audiences got the story of how the two pals met during their college days in Monsters University.
The 2021 sequel series, Monsters at Work, saw the characters in a state of upheaval, as their society switched from scream power to laugh power, much to the initial chagrin of Ben Feldman’s Tylor Tuskmon, the show’s lead. Little has been said by Disney about Monsters at Work’s second season, beyond that it’s in development.

While visiting Pixar Studios in Emeryville, California, for a behind-the-scenes look at Elemental, the studio’s upcoming animated epic, we learned that the Pixar short Carl’s Date would play ahead of the new film. Carl’s Date hails from the creators of Dug Days, the television series of shorts produced by Pixar Animation Studios for the Disney+ streaming service. Bob Peterson directs Carl’s Date, a standalone short featuring the cantankerous balloon enthusiast and his energetic golden retriever, Dug, from 2009’s Up.
Carl’s Date centers on Carl and Dug living together and Dug advising the older man when Carl gets invited on his first date. The late Ed Asner voices Carl as one of his final performances. Asner died of natural causes a few months after completing Pixar’s Carl’s Date project. The short places a bow on Carl’s storyline and leaves him in a good...

Mindy Kaling knows a thing or two about balance. As an actor and producer, she’s juggled multiple jobs for years. On “The Office,” which aired from 2005 to 2013, she not only starred as Kelly Kapoor, but also served as a writer, executive producer and director. In fact, after the comedy, which won five Emmy Awards, she went from staff writer to trailblazer.
So it’s no surprise that she’s performing another juggling act, this time as a creator of two very different series with two very different audiences, while being a mom of two youngsters.
“Never Have I Ever,” created by Kaling and Lang Fisher, is a coming-of-age story focusing on an Indian American high school student. The third season comes to Netflix this summer while the show has already been renewed for the fourth and final season.
Meanwhile, Season 2 of HBO Max’s “The Sex Lives of College Girls,...
