VERY much enjoyed Seasons 1 - 7. Struggled to get through Season 8. Have now watched S09E01 and while I'll probably watch episode 2 next week I can't say that I'm looking forward to it. The show simply did not do well after the departure of the Garvey's at the end of Season 7 and, honestly, even WITH the Garvey's by the end of Season 7 show seemed to be struggling: While artistically it should have ended with Season 7, and possibly sooner, I'm sure the production company views things from the point of view of how much profit can we milk out of this .. and stretch it on as long as possible. I'm confident asserting that Season 9 will be the last season ... I honestly can't imagine any Benidorm fan getting through Season 8 and the first episode of Season 9 and wanting more.

While there is still elements of the show that is good, with the old characters such as Jacqueline, Mateo, Troy, Les and Kenneth, the introduction of the Dawsons and Tigers friend were both incredibly irritating. It definitely ran its course and should have ended at season 7 which had some really nice moments in. I have watched the full 10 seasons but on rewatching I really struggle to make it through 2 episodes of season 8. Aside from episode 1 of season 8 where Jacquelie scatters Donald's ashes and Troy makes a come back... its not worth watching the rest of the season from here. It doesn't offer anymore entertainment sadly.
