A couple of showrunners took a chance on him when he might’ve needed it the most, allowing Fillion to make a living doing what he enjoyed. Years later, Fillion would reunite with those showrunners again for a special occasion.

"A Time For Killing" (also called "The Long Ride Home") isn't one of the best Westerns of all time, nor is it the most memorable, but the 1967 film still comes up in conversation thanks to its unique status as the very first movie role Harrison Ford was ever credited in. Ford played a young, sideburn-wearing Union soldier in the film, which followed the exploits of a group of captured Confederate soldiers on a mad dash for Mexico — none of whom realize the war has officially ended.
Aside from Ford's debut as Lieutenant Shaffer (for which he was credited as Harrison J. Ford), "A Time For Killing" is most noteworthy for its status as an abandoned Roger Corman flick. Corman started making "A Time For Killing" after already churning out cult classics like "A Bucket of Blood" and "The Little Shop of Horrors," but the low-budget filmmaker was replaced by "99 River Street...

Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment has optioned Mother-Daughter Murder Night, the debut novel by Nina Simon that was selected last week by Reese Witherspoon as her September book club pick.
The murder mystery, which hit shelves last week from William Morrow, has been described as Gilmore Girls meets Only Murders in the Building as it follows a grandmother-mother-daughter trio of amateur sleuths.
The whodunit sees an older, high-powered businesswoman convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter and granddaughter. When the granddaughter discovers a body while kayaking and becomes a suspect, the trio, all fiercely independent, must come together to solve the crime, uncovering all sorts of secrets in the town along the way.
Simon, who previously wrote two nonfiction books, became inspired to write a novel after her mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2020. During doctors’ visits and chemo sessions, Simon posited the idea of a murder mystery,...

In 2012, the Canadian government-sanctioned Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers discovered that its precious barrels of sweet sap had been (gasp) stolen. Gone was the sugary liquid that filled the Fpaq warehouses. In its stead was mere water, unfit to pour over a hot stack of pancakes or glaze a juicy pork chop. It sounds silly, but the event cost Fpaq $18.7 million Cad and ranks among the most costly thefts in Canadian history. Judging by the fact that syrup production accounts for about $1.1 billion Cad to Canada's Gdp, the country's government took the crime very seriously. Now, the story is getting the Hollywood adaptation treatment in a half-hour comedy series coming to Prime Video.
Canada produces 90% of the world's maple syrup, and about 72% of that supply comes from the province of Quebec. That means at least 70% of the entire world's syrup was stolen and illegally distributed sometime between 2011 and...

Production is underway on the new Prime Video series “The Sticky,” with Margo Martindale, Chris Diamantopoulos and Guillaume Cyr leading the cast of the true-story heist comedy. Inspired by the “Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist,” the story follows the 2011 theft of 70% of the global maple syrup supply – about $13 million U.S. worth of the sticky stuff.
Recent Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis will also executive produce and guest star in the series, which is produced by Blumhouse Television, Megamix, Comet Pictures and Canadian producers Sphere Media.
The show revolves around Ruth Landry (Martindale), a tough, supremely competent maple syrup farmer who’s had it with being hemmed in by the polite, bureaucratic conventions native to her country’s identity. Especially now that that very bureaucracy is threatening to take away everything she loves: Her farm, her comatose husband, and her right to freedom. With the help of Remy Bouchard (Cyr), a mild-mannered security guard,...

Today’s monster kids may know Milo Manheim from his role as Zed in the Disney movies Z-o-m-b-i-e-s, Z-o-m-b-i-e-s 2, and Z-o-m-b-i-e-s 3… but now Manheim have joined the cast of a genre movie that the monster kids probably won’t be allowed to watch for a while. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Manheim is the latest addition to the cast of director Eli Roth’s long-awaited slasher Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is based on the faux trailer Roth created for the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse, which was released way back in 2007. Roth has been wanting to make a feature version of Thanksgiving for sixteen years and even wrote the screenplay with Jeff Rendell (who played the homicidal pilgrim in the trailer) a dozen years ago. Now it’s finally happening, thanks to Spyglass Media stepping in to provide the funding. Roth jumped at the chance to get the movie made,...

She has also appeared in series including Modern Family, New Girl and American Housewife.

Since its launch in 2019, a pillar of Disney+ has been revisiting and building upon stories from across the Walt Disney Company's brands. Whether that's traveling deeper into a galaxy far, far away with new "Star Wars" shows, uncovering uncharted corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or catching up with fan-favorite characters from beloved shows and movies like "The Santa Clause," "Night at the Museum," or "Enchanted," the House of Mouse's streaming platform continues to offer interesting and exciting ways to revitalize their biggest franchises. Although, the service also creates an avenue to revitalize lesser-known or forgotten properties from Disney's past. With their 100th anniversary just around the corner, that's likely to happen a lot more in 2023. But even before the new year is upon us, the company has announced that they're taking another trip back to Witch Mountain.

Disney+ has greenlit a pilot for “Witch Mountain,” a television reimagining of the 1975 “Escape to Witch Mountain” film franchise, starring Bryce Dallas Howard. The cast of the Disney Branded Television show, produced by ABC Signature, is rounded out by series regulars Isabel Gravitt (“The Watcher”), Levi Miller (“Streamline”), Bianca “b” Norwood (“WeCrashed”) and Jackson Kelly (“Straight Man”).

Exclusive: Jake Choi (Single Parents) has signed on to star alongside Lil Rel Howery, Yvonne Orji, John Cena and Meredith Hagner in 20th Century Studios’ Vacation Friends sequel Honeymoon Friends for Hulu.
In the original film released to the streamer in August of 2021, an uptight couple (Howery and Orji) makes friends with a rowdy couple (Cena and Hagner) while on vacation in Mexico, but their friendship takes an awkward turn when they get back home.
Clay Tarver directed the buddy comedy from his script co-written by Tom Mullen, Tim Mullen, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, seeing it score Hulu’s biggest opening weekend for an original title, though the Predator franchise prequel Prey has since trumped it. Todd Garner and Timothy M. Bourne produced, with Steve Pink and Sean Robins exec producing.

Disney starlet Meg Donnelly, best known for her roles in the “Zombies” franchise and “Hsmtmts” Season 3, knew all too well the pressures associated with entering the sacred space of a beloved franchise like The CW’s “Supernatural.” The actress will be spearheading the prequel series “The Winchesters,” playing Mary Campbell, the eventual mother to fan-favorite characters Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki).
