The remarkable thing about Brad Pitt, who turns 60 on December 18, isn’t the 85 and counting IMDb acting credits under his belt, although that’s a pretty impressive number.

Angelina Jolie told the Wall Street Journal Magazine that she probably would not become an actor if she was just starting out in the industry in 2023. She’d consider acting on the stage, perhaps, but certainly not a life and career in Hollywood.
“I wouldn’t be an actress today,” the Oscar-winner said. “When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.”
Being under intense public scrutiny for well over two decades has seemingly taken its toll on Jolie, who found herself even more of a tabloid target after she divorced Brad Pitt seven years ago. The stress got so bad that she noticed in 2018, during the filming of her Disney sequel “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” that her voice had changed registers from when she first played the fairy tale villain.

In 2015, producer Kevin J. Walsh was clearing out a last-minute parking lot location for Manchester by the Sea’s most memorable scene, and just seven years later, he found himself on one of several battlefields that would define Ridley Scott’s latest historical epic, Napoleon.
Financed by Apple Original Films and distributed by Sony, the Joaquin Phoenix-led film just outperformed expectations with $32.7 million over the five-day Thanksgiving window, and Walsh believes that Napoleon’s production and distribution arrangement is the ideal way forward for streamers who want to make big-budget plays. With the possible exception of Netflix, the remaining streamers haven’t been able to justify the expense of streaming-exclusive blockbusters, but Napoleon has now established that streaming services and traditional studios can work together in mutually beneficial ways.

Brad Pitt and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie both did their share of steamy love scenes earlier in their careers. But Pitt allegedly made a conscious decision to avoid intimacy with other actors soon after getting into a serious relationship with Jolie.

Pitt allegedly might’ve wanted to omit love scenes from his movies out of respect for his ex-wife. Both Pitt and Jolie knew how intense that kind of intimacy could be between two actors. According to Mr. and Mrs. Smith director Doug Liman, producer Dave Matalon had reservations about their love scene in the movie. Angelina Jolie told Vogue magazine that she started doing less film work “seven years ago, only taking jobs that didn’t require long shoots.” Why? “We had a lot of healing to do. We’re still finding our footing,” she said. The Oscar winner did not go into specifics, but the timeline of Jolie’s film hiatus coincides with the end of her marriage to Brad Pitt. She filed for divorce seven years ago in September 2016 after an alleged physical altercation with Pitt took place on a plane.
Jolie said that she feels a “bit down these days,” before revealing: “I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way. Which I don’t want to get into.”
After leading Disney’s successful tentpole “Maleficent” in 2014 and directing and co-starring opposite Pitt in the 2015 flop “By the Sea,” Jolie’s film output took a significant pause.

French actress Mélanie Laurent has really taken her career into her own hands in the last few years. While she really turned heads with one of the lead roles in Quentin Tarantino’s WWII movie “Inglourious Basterds” and immediately grabbed Hollywood’s ear—starring in films like “Beginners,” “Now You See Me,” “By The Sea” and Michael Bay’s “6 Underground”— she also quickly turned to her own projects and became a filmmaker almost as soon as she popped up onto the global stage.

When Hollywood’s golden couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, teamed up for the sultry drama By the Sea, things got a little weird on set. The two blurred the lines between their professional lives and movie characters, and that’s only the half of it.
At one point in production, Jolie admitted that Pitt relieved himself all over her shoes. The quirky incident not only showcased their wild dedication to their art but also painted a picture of their rollercoaster Hollywood romance.

Angelina Jolie has usually had little to no problem disrobing for a film if the role required it. But there was one film where her nude scene didn’t come off the way she thought it would. Caught off guard by the shot, Jolie felt she had to warn her husband at the time and her family about the movie.
Angelina Jolie was caught by surprise with her nude scenes for this film Angelina Jolie | Cosimo Martemucci/Getty Images
Jolie already starred in a few movies where she had to bare her physique for the camera. But ironically, one of the nude scenes that might have caught her off guard the most was an animated feature. Beowulf was a 2007 fantasy film about the hero Beowulf who attempts to fight an evil presence in his country.
But unlike other animated features, Jolie’s performance wasn’t just solely about voice acting.

Exploring themes of social and environmental changes, the story follows as man as he navigates work at the local fish factory, which is facing closure, and his personal life as his closest friends reveal plans to move abroad and his sister needs his attention.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt first worked together playing a married couple in the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But an argument Jolie had about marriage turned a little heated, to the point where brief changes needed to be made while filming.

It may be difficult to imagine anyone else other than Pitt and Jolie portraying a married couple trying to kill each other. But Mr. and Mrs. Smith director Doug Liman once flirted with the idea of pitting Pitt against one of his exes. Liman thought the history between Pitt and his ex Gwyneth Paltrow would’ve translated nicely over to the big screen.
“Think of the spectacle of that. Fireworks could really fly in that situation. Because I’m sure there’s some s*** one of them was mad at the other one for.

Angelina Jolie took her first stab at directing a feature film nearly two decades after starring in them. The revered actress wrote, produced, and directed the 2011 film "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a war-torn romance drama between a Serbian camp administrator and his Bosnian prisoner, against the backdrop of the Bosnian war of 1992. Here's a synopsis for the film:
Danijel, a soldier fighting for the Serbs, and Ajla, a Bosnian held captive in the camp he oversees, knew each other before the war, and could have found love with each other. But as the armed conflict takes hold of their lives, their relationship grows darker, their motives and connection to one another ambiguous, their allegiances uncertain.
Although the film opened to mixed reviews, Jolie was commended for her sensitive approach toward the story, and for being successful in depicting the atrocities of the war. The subject matter is extremely heavy,...

Let us now praise Brad Pitt. Or rather, the whole repertory company of Brad Pitts — the leading man who chased kooky character-actor roles, the matinee idol who stopped worrying and learned to love movie stardom, the wild-card outlier, the endlessly snacking comic relief, the grungy sex symbol, the All-American Adonis next door, the A-list veteran who lets his supernova aura do the talking. You get every single one of them in Bullet Train, the ballistics-and-whistles blockbuster adaptation of Kotaro Isaka’s 2010 crime novel about a commuter train filled with killers...

Ryan Murphy is gearing up for a summer of scares, beginning with the premiere of American Horror Stories on Thursday, July 15.
FX on Hulu will drop the first two of the spinoff’s seven episodes at once, with one episode premiering every Thursday after that. The long-awaited AHS spinoff will tell a different complete horror story in each episode. Murphy recently gifted fans with a behind-the-scenes shot of one such episode, revealing Kevin McHale (Glee), Dyllón Burnside (Pose), Charles Melton (Riverdale) and Nico Greetham (The Prom) to be part of the cast. “Pose” alum also teases “some great scenes” with Leslie Grossman
Season 10 of “American Horror Story” will feature some “very strong female energy,” star Angelica Ross tells TheWrap.
“It’s not full-on lesbian/bi, but there’s some very strong female energy in this,” Ross said of the upcoming season, which is subtitled “Double Feature” and will showcase two different stories. “I pray every night that maybe God will turn me into a lesbian. It hasn’t happened yet, but at least until then, I can pay homage to all of the things that I love about lesbian women. Mainly their lack of interest in centering their lives around men as much as those of us who are a little bit more indoctrinated by patriarchy.”

Kaia Gerber has joined the cast of “American Horror Story” Season 10, creator Ryan Murphy revealed on Instagram Tuesday.
As always, Murphy’s announcement was scant on details, simply stating that Gerber would be “joining the American Horror Story family” for the upcoming season, “AHS: Double Feature.”
The role will be the first major acting job for Gerber, whose successful modeling career has included walking in shows for brands like Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Prada and Chanel. Gerber is the daughter of supermodel and actress Cindy Crawford and nightlife entrepreneur Rande Gerber.
Gerber joins a cast that includes franchise newcomer Macaulay Culkin, as well as returning stars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock.

American Horror Story Season 10 has a title!
Ryan Murphy took to social media earlier this week to tease fans that an announcement about the theme would be coming today, and while it may be a bit later in the day than we'd have liked, we finally have some intel.
The franchise overlord shared a video clip with some mysterious wording about the milestone season of the FX hit.
It reads as follows:
The Title of American Horror Story 10 is...
Double Feature
Two Terrifying Stories ... One Season
One By the Sea ... One By the Sand
More to Come...
It's certainly a convincing way to get people intrigued because this could mean a lot of different things for the franchise.
Are we getting more episodes to accommodate the two stories, or will we be getting a tighter run with each story spanning a shorter amount of episodes?
On top of that, will...

When The Eternals finally arrives next February, Angelina Jolie might be just the latest in a long line of big-name movie stars to board the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the argument could also be made that she’s also one of the studio’s biggest acquisitions yet.
The McU might be the most popular and beloved franchise in the business, but their recruitment model has usually been based around hiring younger rising talents to headline their superhero blockbusters that will grow into the roles over time, and then surrounding them with an eclectic cast of respected supporting players. The approach has worked wonders for them so far, but there have been very few occasions that they’ve signed up one of the most famous and recognizable stars on the planet.

Melanie Laurent, the successful French actor (“Inglourious Basterds”) and filmmaker (“Gaveston”), is set to write and direct “The Mad Women’s Ball,” a period thriller based on the award-wining novel by Victoria Mas.
Alain Goldman’s Legende Films, the well-established French production outfit behind Marion Cotillard starrer “La Môme,” “The Round Up” and “An Officer and a Spy,” is set to produce “The Mad Women’s Ball.” The company has acquired the rights to the book which won the high school students’s prestigious Renaudot prize last year.
The story of “The Mad Women’s Ball” takes place at the end of the 19th century in Paris, at a time when women deemed too rebellious or difficult were frequently labeled as insane and institutionalized. The action unfolds at the Salpêtrière hospital where these women diagnosed with different kinds of nervous system disorders were confined and put under the supervision of neurologists such as Jean-Martin Charcot.

Ellen Mirojnick had worked with Angelina Jolie twice (on 2016’s “By the Sea” and 2018’s “First They Killed My Father”) before being hired to design the costumes for “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.” It was this familiarity that made her job easier. “You have a shorthand and trust – that’s really important. If you have that trust going in, no matter how different or difficult the project is, you are one step ahead of the game.”
Mirojnick had done the costumes for the 1998 television version of “Cinderella,” another adaptation of a Charles Perrault classic. She reaped an Emmy bid for that. But she readily admits that earlier credit was of no help now. “Yes, it was a fairytale period, but it was later and a different tone to ‘Maleficent,’ which was somewhere between medieval times and the renaissance.” However, she concedes, “the fun and the freedom of both projects are somewhat the same.

“Waves,” a partially autobiographical film written and directed by Trey Edward Shults, is a visually arresting look at the fraying of an upper-middle class black family in South Florida in the aftermath of a violent tragedy. It examines themes of grief, domestic violence, substance abuse and modern-day pressures on kids to succeed.
“Propelled by color, energy, electronic music,” as Variety critic Peter Debruge wrote, “Waves,” which opens Friday, is one of a handful that have the courage to grapple with the full weight of grief, the way it can level the afflicted and snuff out promising futures. It is very much in keeping with the likes of “Manchester By the Sea,” “Mystic River” and “We Need to Talk about Kevin,” but with a key distinction.

Angelina Jolie is back again this week with blood in her eye, evil in her heart and horns on her head to reprise her aggressively colorful portrayal of the title character in “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.” So we thought it might be a good time to look back at some highlights — and lowlights — of her movie career — as a performer, that is.
Coming up next, the Oscar winner has Peter Pan prequel “Come Away,” the Taylor Sheridan-directed drama “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and Marvel’s “Eternals,” in which she plays Thena.
Jolie has also delved into directing in the last decade, helming “In the Land of Blood and Honey” in 2011, “Unbroken” in 2014, “By the Sea” in 2015 and “First They Killed My Father” in 2017.
Jolie has also focused much of her time on humanitarian causes, completing dozens of field missions and traveling to war zones to meet with U.

Brad Pitt does not have plans to retire from acting, but he is gearing up to appear even less frequently than he already does on the big screen. In an interview with The New York Times, the actor calls the current acting landscape “a younger man’s game” and says that he does not have any plans on starring in an abundance of new movies. If anything, Pitt’s time as an actor will become more rare.
“It’ll be fewer and farther in between for me, just because I have other things I want to do now,” Pitt said. “When you feel like you’ve finally got your arms around something, then it’s time to go get your arms around something else.”

Angelina Jolie is in talks to star in Marvel Studios’ “The Eternals,” in what would be Jolie’s first venture into the superhero realm.
Details about the movie and what character Jolie would play are being kept under wraps. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the story of “The Eternals” is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals along with the villainous Deviants.
The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman and Norse dieties before leaving the Earth to explore the stars.
Chloe Zhao, whose helming credits include “The Rider” and “Songs My Brothers Taught Me,” became attached in September to direct “The Eternals” from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige is producing.

Angelina Jolie is getting back in front of the camera in a big way. The multi-hyphenate has not starred in a live-action film since her own 2015 effort “By the Sea,” opting to spend much of 2016 and 2017 working on her directorial effort “First They Killed My Father,” but as she wraps up work on “Maleficent 2” and gets started in the David Oyelowo-starring “Come Away,” Jolie is already locking in another meaty starring role. Variety reports that the Oscar winner is set to star in a big screen adaptation of James Scott’s 2014 novel “The Kept.” Jolie is also on deck to produce the film.

The Republic of Malta – a small, Mediterranean island and major tourist destination – lures filmmakers with its yacht-strewn azure coastlines and historically significant structures such as medieval churches, baroque palaces and ancient fortifications. Producers will also find value in the country’s hefty cash rebate.
Specifically, the rebate ranges from 20% to 25% for qualified expenditures. A 2% bonus is available for productions that feature Malta and its culture, bringing the total incentive up to a total maximum of 27%.
To qualify, productions must spend a minimum of 100,000 euros, or about $118,000. They must also satisfy a cultural test.
Production resources abound on the small island, which is connected by air to many major European cities. Malta is particularly known for its production water tank – one of the world’s largest – which many films use for shooting water and underwater scenes. Plus, a long history of filmmaking has endowed Malta with a deep and experienced crew base.

Angelina Jolie had a glamorous Friday night.
The 42-year-old actress could not have looked more elegant while stepping out for the 2017 U.N. Correspondents Association Awards at Cipriani Wall Street restaurant in New York City, where she was honored as the 2017 Unca Global Citizen of the Year.
Jolie stunned as she exited the event in a strapless black-and-white gown, accessorizing her look with striking black gloves -- but she wasn't alone. The mother of six brought several of her children along; 14-year-old Pax, 12-year-old Zahara, 11-year-old Shiloh and 9-year-old Knox were also seen all dressed up alongside their mother. 16-year-old Maddox and 9-year-old Vivienne, meanwhile, appeared to stay home.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may no longer be together, but prior to filing for divorce, Angelina thought that working with Brad on another movie would solve their relationship problems. "We had met working together and we worked together well," Angelina recently told The Hollywood Reporter's podcast, Awards Chatter, about working with Brad on 2015's By the Sea. "I wanted us to do some serious work together. I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate. In some ways it was, and in some ways we learned some things. But there was a heaviness probably during that situation that carried on, and it wasn't because of the film." By the Sea was written and directed by Angelina and is about a couple who deals with serious marital issues after being married for 14 years. Angelina added that the film may have been partially based on the issues she...
