Sylvester Stallone worked alongside Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan to revitalize the Rocky franchise with Creed. After the sequel film, Stallone had a few new directions he wanted to take Rocky in. But he wasn’t sure that the audience would’ve been interested.

Creed saw Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky seemingly passing the torch to a younger generation of fighters. It wasn’t the first time fans saw the character adopting more of a mentorship role. Stallone’s critically panned Rocky V saw him help mold the future generation of fighters. But it was an attempt that soon backfired in Rocky’s face.

Sylvester Stallone has recut Rocky 6, aka Rocky Balboa, and we’ll get to see the new cut of the movie in the summer. More here.
Following his tinkering with the iconic Rocky IV, Sylvester Stallone admitted that he was looking at putting together alternate cuts of some of his other Rocky movies. He’s been true to his word too, with franchise revival Rocky Balboa next in line for the treatment.
It became known that the original cut of the movie went well past the two hour mark. MGM was believed to be instrumental in Stallone cutting it back to just over 100 minutes, and inevitably, this left a lot on the cutting room floor. Still, the film was very well received, and had it not taken off in the way that it did, we probably wouldn’t have the Creed franchise now.

Ryan Coogler gave one of the best Marvel films with the Chadwick Boseman starrer Black Panther. The film also starred Michael B. Jordan and was one of the greatest hits of the MCU. It was also the first and only MCU film to be nominated for Best Picture and even won the Oscar for Best Original Score, Costume Design, and Production Design.
The filmmaker returned to the franchise with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and is also reportedly on board to direct Black Panther 3. According to an industry insider, the filmmaker is also eyed by Marvel to helm the franchise’s X-Men reboot, which might be a great decision as he is known for having strong political stances in his films, which would be perfect for an X-Men film.

"Rocky" is one of the most beloved sports movies of all time. One could probably even stretch beyond to say that it's plainly and simply one of the most beloved American movies ever made. Now, the movie is getting the "making of" treatment in a new film titled "I Play Rocky." The project has lined up a slightly unexpected director in the form of Peter Farrelly, known best for his work on screwball comedies such as "There's Something About Mary" and "Dumb & Dumber."
According to Variety, Farrelly is set to direct. What's more, casting is already underway for the lead role. Sylvester Stallone, who played Rocky Balboa in the original and its many sequels, is not specifically named as the inspiration for this lead role. However, it's crystal clear this movie is about the actor and his journey to get the cinematic classic made. The logline for the film...

Now here’s a real underdog story. Peter Farrelly (“Green Book”) is set to direct a film inspired by the story of how Sylvester Stallone came to make his seminal 1976 boxing film “Rocky.”
The film is titled “I Play Rocky,” and per its official logline, which never names Stallone directly, the film “follows a struggling actor with a partially paralyzed face and a speech impediment who writes a script that a big movie studio wants to buy, but he refuses to sell it unless he gets to play the lead.”
The logline continues: “Turning down an offer of life-changing money, he instead works for pennies to get the movie made with himself in the starring role.” The movie becomes the biggest box office hit of 1976, garnering 10 Academy Award nominations and winning Best Picture.

There’s a special tug at the heartstrings that follows the death of an actor who’s been closely associated with a death scene, as is the case with Bernard Hill, who died May 5 at the age of 79.
The death of Juanita Moore in 2013 at the age of 98 came 54 years after maybe the ultimate movie deathbed scene — not to mention funeral, with a horse-drawn hearse and Mahalia Jackson eulogizing her in song — in Douglas Sirk’s “Imitation of Life.” And when Carl Weathers died earlier this year, it came nearly four decades after his best-known character, Apollo Creed, had died in “Rocky IV,” prompting the entire “Creed” franchise to spring up in his wake, with him conspicuously, obviously, absent.
Much praise and remembrance has been given since Hill’s passing to his role as Captain E.J. Smith in James Cameron’s “Titanic.” But Bernard Hill’s death scene as Theoden...

Even those only vaguely familiar with video games probably know names like Super Mario, Grand Theft Auto, and Call of Duty. They’re the franchises that have come to dominate gaming over the last 50 years or so. Some of those franchises are currently being updated almost every year, while the new releases in others have become milestone events that seem to reshape the industry. New franchises come along and others fade away, but the biggest and best video game franchises have been slowly growing for years and, in some cases, decades.
Honestly, it can all be a little difficult to keep up with. For as significant as gaming’s biggest franchises are, they’re also…well, big. Over a long enough period of time, it’s easy to forget when specific games in certain franchises were released and where exactly they fit into the history of those series. You may know the names,...

Oftentimes, a sequel to a much-beloved film fails to meet the expectations set by its predecessors, which eventually ends up tainting the original’s legacy. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case with Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky, arguably his most iconic franchise, which is still going strong with Michael B. Jordan taking its reign with the Creed features.
However, getting the first sequel off the ground wasn’t easy, and if it wasn’t for one plot twist, Rocky might not have gone on to become one of the most celebrated franchises in the sports genre.

In Rocky II, Sylvester Stallone’s character has to learn how to box right-handed due to the eyesight problems he developed following his first fight with Apollo Creed, but it was a real-life injury which prompted this twist.
During the TMZ special Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons, Stallone revealed that he tore his pec muscle right off the bone while training with Franco Columbu. This was just a month and a half before he was scheduled to start shooting Rocky II. “So, I go down, and it’s maybe only 200 [lbs]. I’m just warming up, and I hear a Pow!” Stallone said. “I fall on the floor. And Franco goes, ‘Let me see.’ He jams his fingers — I’ve torn my pec off the bone. I mean, bad. I could hear it go rip, and he’s jamming his fingers. And I think I’m going to black out.” That…...

Jonathan Majors had been enjoying the peaks of stardom with his major role as Kang the Conqueror in MCU’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. His acting skills were further praised when he starred opposite Michael B. Jordan in his directorial debut, Creed III. The sports drama project not only received positive reviews for its actors’ performances among other criteria, but it also helped in bonding the actors in real life.

But, given that the former has been sentenced to probation, many wonder whether he would return in the next installment of the Creed franchise. This could happen especially when the former shares a close bond with the director-actor, who is returning to helm Creed IV.

About two and a half years have gone by since it was announced that Delroy Lindo – whose credits include Get Shorty, Da 5 Bloods, The Core, Malcolm X, and The Harder They Fall (plus more than 65 others) – had signed on to join Mahershala Ali in the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Blade. While we wait to see if that Lindo will still be in that vampire hunter movie when it finally goes into production, The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Lindo has been cast in the mysterious genre project that’s coming our way from frequent collaborators Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan – who have worked on Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever together as director and cast member, and have other collaborations that Coogler didn’t direct. When Assassin’s Creed: Origins was released at the tail-end of October 2017, it came during a moment of transition and epiphany for the long-running video game franchise. After being launched a decade earlier, almost to the day, there had been a new Assassin’s Creed title virtually every year from the game publisher Ubisoft. Until 2016. Due to spending so many years returning to the same formula, Assassin’s Creed developers realized they needed time off; they needed to regroup and reimagine; they needed bold change in what their vision of the future could be.
Abubakar Salim could relate. Fresh out of a classical education at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Salim did not necessarily anticipate discovering a career in video game voice acting and motion-capture, yet his casting in the central role of Assassin’s Creed: Origins as Bayek of Siwa had a life-altering effect.

Start counting down the days until Coogler’s next film – said to be a period vampire movie starring Michael B Jordan – arrives in cinemas. It’s out in 2025.
Ryan Coogler is one of the most talented filmmakers working in Hollywood today, so the news that he’s returning to direct an original project was especially welcome given he’s spent the last decade producing – the only movies he’s directed since 2015 are Creed and his brace of Black Panther films for Marvel.
While Coogler undoubtedly elevated each of those films beyond the sum of their parts, the thought of him returning to original storytelling for the first time since Fruitvale Station, his 2013 feature debut, is an exciting prospect indeed – doubly so since he’ll also be collaborating once again with that film’s star, Michael B Jordan.

Reports are flooding in, claiming that Michael B. Jordan will be returning to the big screen soon with an upcoming film starring him, which is still untitled at the moment. This is because Warner Bros. recently acquired the rights to this project in a bidding war, and thus, it still needs to go into development in its initial stage.
Michael B. Jordan in a still from Creed III
So far, not a lot of details about this film are available as public knowledge, but from what most reports have gathered so far, it seems like the upcoming film will be a period thriller of sorts that will feature Vampires and take creative cues from the world of anime in the classic Jordan fashion. And hearing this has got the fans really excited for the upcoming film this early on in its creation.

In 1989's "Road House," lifelong nightclub cooler/bouncer/warrior John Dalton (Patrick Swayze) shrugs off his various injuries with a sly phrase: "Pain don't hurt." Yet his lady love, Dr. Elizabeth Clay (Kelly Lynch), warns him that while he may shrug away pain right now, years later his injuries will catch up to him and pain will start to hurt very, very much. That's a truth which many athletes, servicepeople, and actors find themselves facing in their middle age and up, one which younger versions of themselves would do well to heed.
One such actor facing that reality is Sylvester Stallone, a star whose career off-screen greatly mirrors his typical journey on-screen. Just like the character closest to his real self, Rocky Balboa, Stallone does his best work when he's got something to prove, whether to himself, to Hollywood, the public, or some combination thereof. With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the world saw the film saying farewell to Chadwick Boseman with honor and love for his legacy, portraying the titular superhero in the MCU.
With his tragic and sudden passing before the production of the aforementioned film began, Marvel Studios had to come up with a different story to explain the absence of the protagonist from the project.
Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther in a still from Avengers: Infinity War
This was the main reason why the original plan that filmmaker Ryan Coogler had for this film could not come to fruition as an alternate narrative was formulated for it. But when it comes to it, the director revealed that his initial vision for the project might’ve been just as impactful considering we would’ve seen T’challa in grief in front of our eyes for the time he lost during The Blip.

Stallone, who was a struggling actor at the time, convinced the producers to star himself in the movie, and it made all the difference. However, despite writing several movies in the franchise and being its original creator, the actor had no rights to anything related to the franchise.

Sylvester Stallone crafted the Rocky universe, yet his foundational rights for Rocky were never rock solid.

Sylvester Stallone is synonymous with his breakthrough role Rocky Balboa. But despite the character being perhaps his most recognizable performance, Stallone doesn’t share too much in common with him.

It might be difficult to imagine someone else in the role of Rocky Balboa. The actor is very close to the role, as he wrote the character for him to play. But although Stallone was set on portraying Rocky, he and the famous boxer had little in common.
“I, Sylvester Stallone, am really not much like Rocky. Rocky is a much more ethical, moral person than I am. He’s really a great guy,” Stallone once told The Aquarian.
Similarly, he also wasn’t too much like his other iconic character John Rambo.
