They’re also working on adapting bestselling author Carley Fortune’s “Meet Me At The Lakes” via their production company, Archewell for Netflix.
Here’s what we know so far.

Netflix is remaining in the Duchess of Sussex business!
And business is -- well, booming might be a strong word, but clearly, both sides believe they've got a good thing going.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry first signed a deal with Netflix back in 2020, but since then, the couple's media market value has declined a bit.
Their first two projects with the streaming giant met with mixed results, but according to a new announcement, two more series from the couple's Archewell production studio are currently in development.
News of the new shows was first reported by Deadline.
One of the projects is a food-focused lifestyle series that will "celebrate the joys of cooking and gardening, entertaining and friendship."
The show will be directed by Michael Steed, who's best known for his work on Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
The showrunner will be Leah Hariton, who was previously a producer on Selena Gomez...

This year, the Emmy nominees for outstanding hosted nonfiction series include Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy (2021 and 2022’s winner) and Taste the Nation With Padma Lakshmi. It’s fair to say these food travelogues owe their entrée into awards contention to Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, which dominated the category in the 2010s and brought credibility to food programming in a field that had previously overlooked it.
CNN’s Parts Unknown, which won 12 Primetime Emmys over 12 seasons — including six for outstanding informational series (as the category was known from 2013 to 2019) — was Bourdain’s fourth series following A Cook’s Tour and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel, and Food Network’s The Layover. All were travel shows presented through the prism of food, but in Parts Unknown, Bourdain — an executive chef at New York’s Brasserie Les Halles who rose to fame for his tell-all memoir Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in...

Rick Lewchuk is exiting his post as senior vice president of creative marketing and brand standards for CNN Worldwide, amid cost-cutting and layoffs at the network this week.
He oversaw on-air and off-channel brand and marketing for the CNN channels, as well as CNN Go and CNN Digital and the short-lived CNN+, with responsibilities that included brand messaging, on-air promotion, design and marketing campaigns across platforms. The series: "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown"
Where you can stream it: Discovery+, HBO Max (season 1)
The pitch: Celebrity chef, writer, and travel journalist Anthony Bourdain brings his unique brand of genuine empathy and self-aware snark to every corner of the globe as he travels to the "parts unknown." The CNN series follows Bourdain as he travels to various places around the world, connecting to the people who live there through conversation, and more importantly, through food. Food is a huge part of culture, and though Bourdain's previous travel series, "No Reservations," focused almost entirely on global food customs, "Parts Unknown" uses food as the starting point for much larger conversations. Bourdain is an expert at making people comfortable and earning their trust, in large part because of his earnestness. He has discussions with everyone ranging from the poorest and most disenfranchised to heads of state. The best part is that...

Friday was a “sad day for the documentary film world,” one filmmaker told IndieWire after hearing the news that CNN Films will scale back on original documentaries from outside partners. The strategy shift means more than losing a major buyer; for filmmakers it means the great documentary gold rush had a good run, but it’s now over.
CNN is far from the only platform to tighten its nonfiction belt; cost cutting measures have also come for Netflix, Amazon, and Peacock. However, CNN was one of the last bastions for hardcore, capital-d documentaries that aspired to more than true crime or “Tiger King.”
“What’s happening across the documentary universe that’s troubling is we’re seeing more of the prestige outlets that have been traditionally for filmmakers to speak their truth and speak their story, they’re starting to dwindle,” said one talent representative within the documentary world, who...

CNN will “no longer rely” on commissioning longform projects from outside partners, signaling that the news juggernaut will pull back on original documentary series and films like “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and the critically hailed “Navalny.”
“Our long-term plan will no longer rely on commissioned projects with outside partners,” CEO Chris Licht wrote in a memo sent to staff on Friday. “This was a very difficult decision to make, and it was based, in large part, on the ever-increasing cost of commissioning third-party premium content. However, I want to be clear that longform content remains an important pillar of our programming.”

CNN is scaling back on original series and films and is looking to move to in-house production, citing costs as the network looks to cuts in division budgets.
The CNN Original Series and CNN Films units, led by Amy Entelis, have been behind such popular shows as Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy and the recent The Last Movie Stars. The belt-tightening of CNN has begun. The broadcast news channel is set to cut back on commissioning documentary films and television series from its programming, chairman Chris Licht announced to employees on Friday.
In an email to staff obtained by IndieWire, Licht explained that the decision was made due to budgetary reasons and the cost of commissioning projects with outside partners. Going forward, long-form documentary content for the channel will now be produced almost entirely in-house — and instead, Amy Entelis, CNN’s executive vice president for talent and content development, will explore creating a studio focused on long-form content.

Another former CNN+ series has found a new home.
CNN will debut the new original series (More Than) A Cooking Show with Alison Roman this fall, the channel says. The series will see Roman traveling around New York and Italy, learning about some of her favorite ingredients and, yes, sharing ways to cook them.
Roman, a chef and cookbook author, has worked at Bon Appétit and The New York Times, but she also forged a brand through her social media and YouTube channels. CNN announced her CNN+ pickup ahead of the streaming service’s launch. It is not immediately clear what day or time Roman’s show will air on CNN, though the channel has made an effort to reimagine its Sunday lineup, which could make for a potential landing spot.

Warner Bros. Discovery ultimately plans to launch a unified streaming service, one that will carry the full breadth and depth of content from the likes of HBO, Warner Bros. and Discovery Inc.
For now, though, the company’s existing streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+ will remain their own products, and on Thursday the company took its first step in using its larger content library to beef up those two offerings.
For starters, the company said that “select” programming from Magnolia Network, the joint venture between Discovery and Chip and Joanna Gaines, would launch on HBO Max in September. That will include a new series, Fixer Upper: The Castle, which sees the hosts fixing up their own home.
The programming shift is the first time that legacy Discovery programming will be added to HBO Max. The content will continue to be available on Discovery+.

Chadwick Boseman, Norm Macdonald and Jessica Walter each received posthumous 2022 Emmy nominations.
Boseman, who passed away in 2020 after a private battle with colon cancer, earned a best character voice-over nod for his role as Star Lord T’Challa in the Marvel Studios and Disney+ series What If…? episode “What If… T’Challa Became A Star-Lord?” He was also nominated for a posthumous Oscar for lead actor for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Boseman’s legacy remains inseparable from mainstream culture — his breakout work in Black Panther helped propel that film to become the first superhero movie ever nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards. The film’s sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is scheduled for release later this year, with Ryan Coogler returning to direct.
Macdonald’s nom comes from his final comedy special, Nothing Special, which debuted on Netflix.

The long awaited, heavily promoted CNN+ debuts on Tuesday, with a lineup of live and on-demand programming and, in the media world, a dose of doubts.
Among them: Rivals already have staked their space in the streaming universe. The subscription streaming service needs more must-have programming to lure customers already satiated in monthly fees. And CNN+ is launching just weeks from the network getting a new parent, with the combination of Discovery and WarnerMedia, along with new leadership, with Chris Licht scheduled to take over as the network’s new leader in May.
Yet Andrew Morse, Executive VP and Chief Digital Officer, who leading CNN+, is insistent that what the service offers will be unlike anything else out there.
“We are not trying to launch just another streaming service,” he said in an interview late last week. “What we are building is the most essential and engaging direct-to-consumer news subscription service.

Facing big-name competition, Stanley Tucci’s Searching For Italy CNN series won the Emmy for Hosted Nonfiction Series Or Special, a category another CNN travel and food series, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, dominated for most of the last decade.
Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy faced against the highly rated and headline-making Oprah With Meghan And Harry CBS special and David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction Netflix series, as well as CNN’s well received United Shades Of America With W. Kamau Bell and Showtime’s Vice, which has won the category before. Both Oprah Winfrey and Letterman have previously won a slew of Emmys (Primetime and Daytime).
The win for Tucci, who was not present to accept the award and instead had provided pre-recorded remarks, comes on the heels of his revelation that he had battled cancer three years ago. In the interview, he detailed his struggles with the disease,...

There was so much hope that after Zoom acceptance speeches and only pandemic pod parties, things would turn around for the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony. And they have — to a degree. Whereas last year only a handful of stars took part on stage in downtown Los Angeles, this time they’re planning a slightly larger event, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer.
It won’t be the thousands of people that usually gather at the Microsoft Theater, but it’s a start to returning to a communal celebration.
The shifting plans for the Sept. 19 live ceremony are not the only thing to keep an eye on as time ticks down to the close of Emmy voting. Here, Variety highlights some important ballot reminders just ahead of the filing deadline.
Limited Series Conundrum

Much of the Emmy talk this year revolves around Prince Charles and Princess Diana, whose doomed marriage was portrayed last season on Best Drama Series front-runner “The Crown.” But they’re not the only royals on the Emmy ballot. Charles and Diana’s real-life son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, gave a bombshell interview about the royal family with Oprah Winfrey that’s also up for an Emmy. And it could win too.
“Oprah with Meghan and Harry” is nominated for Best Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special. The CBS broadcast featured a candid discussion of Markle’s struggles with mental health and antagonistic coverage from the British press. The couple also alleged racism within the royal family, spawning widespread online discussion and a million Winfrey reaction gifs.
