Stephen Amell had his breakthrough with the CW show Arrow, where he played the lead superhero. The Canadian actor’s show began the Arrowverse, including shows such as The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and more. The actor reprised his role as Oliver Queen in many of these shows and video games.
The CW series was reportedly Amell’s tenth job in America after he moved. The actor mentioned that he started as an audience member on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was on the show when he got his first acting job. He mentioned that he was almost kicked out of the talk show when he appeared years later while promoting Arrow.

The CW used to be the ideal network for soapy teen dramas, sci-fi vampires and werewolf series, and DC superhero shows.
Now, it's a disappointing shell of those days.
The Vampire Diaries premiered back in 2009 and led to two additional spinoffs, while DC's Arrow began in 2012 and also began a massive franchise.
The CW used to include soapy dramas or sci-fi series, such as Supernatural, which launched Jared Padalecki's career.
The CW has only four original series left, and Superman & Lois will air its final season in the fall.
All American and All American: Homecoming are all on the bubble, while Walker was canceled. It seems like The CW has changed its' identity, and it's not favorable.
We long to return to those glory days when The CW ruled TV fandoms.

Similar to Grant Gustin, who first appeared on Arrow season 2 before getting his own spin-off show following the overwhelmingly positive reception, Melissa Benoist too originally auditioned for Arrow. However, the role she auditioned for was a far cry from the whimsy optimistic Supergirl she’d go on to play in the following years, as it was much darker in tone.
Although she managed to leave a lasting impact on the casting director, which later came in handy during her selection for Girl of Steel, she lost out on playing Oliver’s sister to Willa Holland.

Years before getting her own CW show, Melissa Benoist auditioned for the role of Thea Queen, Oliver Queen’s sister. But following Willa Holland’s greater sense of duality as an actor, she was chosen over the Glee star for the role.

It’s not uncommon for shows to lose their spark when they go on for too long, and this is pretty apparent in most CW shows, especially the Arrowverse, which kickstarted with Arrow in 2012. Despite starting on a high note that led to The Flash’s launch, which too was showered with laudation by fans and critics, there wasn’t a constant flow of quality in their latter seasons.
In hindsight, it’s not surprising to see why this was the case, as Marc Guggenheim, one of its creators, recalled they didn’t initially start out with an interconnected universe in mind.

The Arrowverse has always been a place of different possibilities no matter how bizarre they may seem. Each hero had their own standing and story to tell. While some ended on a bittersweet note, others found their footing in one way or another. Each story went down its own path with either major or minor crossovers taking place from time to time.

According to rumors, James Gunn will make Green Arrow a part of his Justice League team in the Dcu. The character has a decent fanbase, thanks to Stephen Amell’s eight-season run as Oliver Queen in The CW show, Arrow. Earlier, Zack Snyder tried to include the character in the Dceu, with another actor considered for the role, but it didn’t ultimately work out. Interestingly, rumors also suggest that Dcu will make Black Canary his partner.

Confession time: despite being a serious film buff, and preaching the gospel of physical media, I only recently upgraded to a 4K Blu-ray player. While I’ve been watching 4K for years on my Apple TV, I also upgraded my 4K TV to one with Dolby Vision built-in, and some of the results I’ve been seeing on restorations of my favourite movies have been blowing my mind. For those of you who maybe haven’t taken the plunge, here’s a list of five that have really knocked my socks off:
The Crow (1994)
Our man Tyler Nichols was so impressed with the transfer on the recent 4K disc that he devoted an entire column to it last week. For me, this was one of the first movies I opted to pick up, as it’s never really looked all that great on DVD or Blu-ray. I’ve been lucky...

One thing that plagued the Arrowverse throughout its entirety was the dip in quality in most of its entries, especially in the latter seasons. This problem was apparent in its biggest attractions, Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, which despite starting out on a high note and growing to immense popularity, lost their spark during the latter half of their run.
But it was quite the opposite for Legends of Tomorrow, which often gets overlooked when it comes to CW DC shows, and interestingly, the show was originally planned to be just an Atom spin-off.

Stephen Amell’s work in Arrow has always been highly regarded. His contribution to the Arrowverse was one that many sought out to be both entertaining and impactful. A key feature of working on shows and movies is the connections that get built not just with the cast and crew but also with the audiences. So much so that because Arrow and Supernatural were being filmed on nearby sets, Amell developed a great friendship with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

If bonds outside of his own show can be so strong, then there is no need for it to be imagined how deep the bonds of every one of Arrow were. Seeing the care Amell had for his cast and crew, his death sequence should have held value beyond any other, regardless of it being part of a major crossover or not.

When Game of Thrones TV series creators David Benioff and D.B. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Netflix has indeed ordered more episodes – but just enough to allow Benioff, Weiss, and co-creator Alexander Woo to wrap up the story. Exactly how many episodes that will be has not yet been revealed.

The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths was the Arrowverse's sixth crossover event and aired across five parts from December 2019 - January 2020.
The story played out across episodes of Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, and featured plenty of fan-pleasing cameos. Those included Kevin Conroy as a live-action Batman, Brandon Routh's return as Superman, and Ezra Miller as The Flash (simpler times).
While it was made on a TV budget, Crisis on Infinite Earths received plenty of praise and delivered a much stronger take on the classic comic book story than this year's poorly-received animated movies.

Directed by Jeff Fisher and written by Chris Sivertson, The Image of You is based on the novel of the same name by British author Adele Parks. It stars Pretty Little Liars alum Sasha Pieterse and Arrow star Parker Young
Identical twins Anna and Zoe (played by Pieterse) share a bond so close that nothing can tear them apart. But while Anna is romantic, naive and very trustoing, Zoe is outrageously outspoken and dangerous. When Anna meets an ambitious stock trader Nick, Zoe who has seen her sister Anna betrayed by men before, is determined to find who Nick really is and discover the truth about him.
HeyUGuys spoke to Parks about her involvement in developing this thriller alongside director Jeff Fisher. Meanwhile, Pieterse spoke about the complications that come from playing two different characters and knowing when to jump from one to the other.

Before Luke Mitchell made a home on Chicago Med this season, the ubiquitous Australian actor appeared on many, many TV shows, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blindspot, The Code, Legacies and Big Sky.
But it’s Mitchell’s breakout Stateside role on The CW’s The Tomorrow People, where he played the superpowered group’s leader John Young, that stands out for the actor. When asked which of his past characters he would like to revisit, Mitchell is quick to single out the short-lived series, which aired during the 2013-14 TV season.

Grant Gustin was skyrocketed to fame when he took the role of Barry Allen on The CW’s The Flash. Since then, he has built a devoted fandom, delivering a confident, optimistic, and altruistic version of the superhero. Actor Grant Gustin wore the Flash suit for nine years as he starred as the titular character in The CW’s The Flash. A part of the Arrowverse series of TV shows, The Flash saw Barry Allen become the scarlet speedster after being struck by lightning in Central City. The series sees him fight various antagonists and also find the killer of his mother.
Though he was grateful for getting the opportunity to play the character, Gustin reportedly suffered while putting on the costume for the show. The Flash costume included a red one-piece suit and a face mask that covered most of his face. The actor mentioned how tough it was to get in and out of the suit and how he used to spend hours in the suit while filming.

One major problem that plagued most Arrowverse shows was CW’s inability to end them at the right time. While most of them started on a high note, especially Grant Gustin’s The Flash, which was the biggest superhero show on TV upon its release, the writers couldn’t carry the momentum in the later seasons. But things could have been very different for the CW show that started it all, Arrow.
Had CW stuck to the original plans for the show, Arrow could’ve ended on a really high note, as instead of going on for 8 seasons, season 5 was originally intended to be the show’s end.

Running for almost a decade, Grant Gustin’s tenure as The Flash came to a close with Season 9 a year ago. The series finale saw Eddie’s resurrection and transformation into Cobalt Blue, who later reconciled with Barry to save the timeline. However, they don’t exactly part ways as friends. The show ends with Nora’s birth and Barry passing on the mantle to new speedsters.

Could The CW have one last Arrowverse crossover up its sleeve? Following remarks made by Tom Cavanagh at a convention over the weekend, TVLine has confirmed that the Flash vet will appear in the series finale of Superman & Lois, appropriately titled “It Went By So Fast.”
Cavanagh originally hoped to direct the pivotal episode, having previously helmed the Season 1 finale and Season 3 premiere, but the gig was already promised to frequent Superman & Lois director Gregory Smith. That’s when showrunner Todd Helbing got an idea, one that will leave fans theorizing for months to come.

Stephen Amell led the cast of Arrow for nine seasons, becoming the face of The CW’s Arrowverse, which lasted for almost a decade. Amell is known for playing the role of Oliver Queen, playboy billionaire by day and vigilante by night. However, Amell’s own life trajectory is nothing like that of the character he embodied for eight seasons.
Stephen Amell starred as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow for eight seasons of Arrow.
During an interview, Amell opened up about his early struggles to make it as an actor and had to fight hard to make a name for himself. As a result, Amell’s origin story is in stark contrast to that of the character that made him a household name. Here is what Stephen Amell has said about his initial struggles in Hollywood and how they contrast Oliver Queen’s story.

Despite not being connected to the larger Arrowverse, ‘Superman & Lois’ is easily the best CW superhero show in terms of quality writing. The show did have its ups and downs, especially last year.
After Nexstar acquired CW and the network was bound to be restructured, ‘Superman & Lois’ survived the onslaught during which many shows were canceled. This led to some of the main cast being let go, fewer writers and the episode count was slashed compared to previous seasons. Now after several months of filming the last season of ‘Superman & Lois’ has wrapped filming, ready for the Fall 2024 release date.

While ‘Superman & Lois’ remains distinct from the broader Arrowverse, it stands out as the CW’s top superhero series due to its strong writing. Despite facing challenges, including changes following Nexstar’s acquisition of CW, the show managed to survive restructuring while other series were canceled.

After garnering immense popularity following his appearance in Arrow, Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster received his own standalone series in 2014, often considered the peak of the Arrowverse. Although the next two seasons had their fair share of issues but were received positively, from season 4, it was all downhill for the series, and it hit a new low with season 7.
While The Flash was notable for its pop culture references, season 7’s finale went a little above and beyond with its Star Wars homage, which didn’t sit well with fans in the slightest.

Twenty years ago, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s breakout hit The O.C., about a group of teens coming of age in Newport Beach, premiered on Fox. By the time the 27-episode first season aired its finale in the spring of 2004, the show was the highest-rated drama on TV among adults 18 to 34 and had catapulted its stars — whose characters were affectionately known as the “Core Four” — to massive, near-overnight popularity.
It wouldn’t be the first or last young adult series in the U.S. to generate a cultural frenzy. Streaming services are the bane of my existence. It’s 2024 and there are so many options that it makes my head spin. Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, Prime Video, Peacock cover the main streamers but that’s not counting the niches. Like old cartoons? Check out Boomerang. Like anime? Then Crunchyroll is for you. But what about horror fans? Sure, Hulu has its “Into the Dark” label and Netflix is always releasing something horror-related (though I question the quality.) And the horror genre features multiple options with Screambox, Arrow Player, Full Moon Features, and even Tubi. But the subject of today’s spotlight is the best of them all, with a great Ui and wonderful selection of films, nothing can compete with Shudder.

Has FBI: International found a replacement for Luke Kleintank’s Scott Forrester?
The hit CBS procedural has cast Chicago Med alum Colin Donnell in a guest-starring role.
People first reported the news, but in true Dick Wolf series fashion, details about who Donnell will be playing are being kept firmly under wraps.
We know that the Arrow alum will appear in the final two episodes of FBI: International Season 3.
Kleintank is set to depart before these two episodes, so we don’t think Donnell’s character will be involved in Forrester’s last storyline.
“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International,” Kleintank said this week.
Will Colin Donnell replace Luke Kleintank?
