Sex & Nudity

  • Man puts his hand toward a woman's inner leg. Very brief
  • Man urinates (no nudity)
  • Woman gives birth (no nudity)
  • During a prolonged scene at a waterfall where man's rear is seen, he bends over some and his junk is clearly visible between his legs.
  • Brief mention of fear of sexual violence against the main character's wife and son.
  • Naked male rears are shown multiple times - a couple of times in the context of swimming, once when a man is forced to strip. A man walks into a dark room where we see a presumably nude people. Actually nudity is not seen because there is not any light in the room.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shot with a flare not very graphic and only the aftermath is seen.
  • A severed human head next to guts and intestines is seen on the side of the road. We do not see the neck wound.
  • A man is shot in the head, seen from a distance. Blood sprays out of the back of his head. We later see the body on the ground in an overhead shot and we can see a small bullet wound in the cheek with a bit of blood, hard to make out.
  • Most of the violence is only implied or heard.
  • A father and son find a body hanging in a barn from an apparent suicide. We only see the feet hanging.
  • People are shot with crossbows and guns. Some graphic wounds.
  • A storage of human livestock is revealed. Many of the people are in various states of starvation as well as living butchery (raw amputations, etc). This is shown quickly in a dark room, with chaos and scrambling for the open door. This is probably the most disturbing scene in the movie. We do not see any blood or gore in this scene.

Profanity

  • 5 uses of "fuck" one mixed with mother 2 uses of "son of a bitch," & a few uses of "shit," "ass," & "hell" & 1 use of "cocksucking" Several GD & JC.
  • Moderate strong language.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man is seen smoking outside of a building.
  • A man smokes cigarettes in several scenes.
  • A son asks his father if he can have some alcohol.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Two characters come across a pile of human skulls. A few skulls are on the top of stakes. A significant part of land is covered in blood, presumably human.
  • A woman and her child are running away from a mob of cannibals who eventually overtake them. Nothing is shown, camera moves away, muffled shrieks and shots are heard.
  • The entire film is intense and dreary. The constant threat of violence is very ominous, constant references to suicide and murder. The scene where human livestock are discovered is extremely disturbing and frightening (lasts about 5-7 seconds). Several bodies without bloody detail are shown throughout. All characters shown in state of no hygiene, and starvation.
  • The film involves danger, threats, and a gloomy, bleak atmosphere.
  • Parents talk about the likelihood of their son's future, may be upsetting to some.
  • A father instructs his son on how to use a firearm to shoot himself in the head incase the cannibals catch him.
