- TriviaGrady mentions that if Fred's Pluto Water is gone, then he is too. Pluto Water was a trademarked name for a very popular strong water-based laxative product that used lithium salts as its main ingredient to help with digestion. The product was discontinued in 1971 when lithium became labeled as a controlled substance. However, the product was so popular many die-hard users stocked up on it prior to this.

Fred G. Sanford: [Discouraging his son from eating breakfast at Julio's] Son, come here, let me tell you something. Now, if the Lord had intended you to eat Puerto Rican food, he'd have lined your stomach with Pepto Bismol.

Second and final appearance of Alma Beltran as Julio's mother
"Fuentes, Fuentes, Sanford & Chico" finds rival junk dealers Lamont and Julio discussing working together on a side business in used auto parts (they would later combine junkyards in "The Merger"). Fred of course isn't happy about this arrangement, thinking up the perfect name for the endeavor: "Julio and Damn Foolio!" Julio shares the good news with the unapologetic Fred, who doesn't like the idea of being involved with Puerto Rican cars: "what's a Puerto Rican car?" "same as a Mexican car, it won't start!" Previously seen in "Watts Side Story," Julio's mother Providencia (Alma Beltran, last of two) drops by with Chico the goat, given a new label from the old junkman: "there they are, the four new business partners - Fuentes, Fuentes, Chico and Dummo!" When Lamont and Julio return home after a busy day, they find Fred gone and a message on his tape recorder, Lamont not concerned about more tall tales from his highfalutin' father. Actually, a flop house seems perfect for Fred G. Sanford's many flip flops!
