- GoofsWhen Magnum speaks to Earl's son Phil for the first time, Phil tells him: "My father is dead. My father's name was James. He has been dead for about two years." Later, Magnum speaks to Earl and tells him that Phil said to him, Magnum, that "his father got killed in Miami in a traffic accident 27 years ago." This is completely different from what Phil actually said, and no reason at all is given for this difference.
- Quotes
Magnum: [narrates] I remember when I was five years old, I found this little puppy in the street. It had been hit by a car and was in pretty bad shape, so I brought it home and my dad and I took it to the vet. One hundred twenty bucks. The little puppy grew into a big Saint Bernard. It ate a five hundred dollar couch and my dad's favorite armchair; the next day, my dad put it in the back yard, where it dug under the fence and ran away. Ever since then, I've been wary about taking in big, adorable pups; one of life's lessons you just have to keep learning over and over again.
I remember one of my biggest laughs watching TV was in this episode at the climax with the bad-guys (won't spoil it, but it involves poor Rick, who gets more than his share in this one).
Ernest Borgnine was an unknown to me until this episode (I was a novice then).
Not my "favorite" of Magnum episodes, but it's up there because this is the one that got me hooked.
