- With her divorce now finalized, Caroline sets her sights on Jeff; the Sloans worry that Charlie has ulterior motives in his relationship with Gina, most notably regarding their grandchild's inheritance; Jeff and Ginger both get bad news regarding their respective careers.
- Jeff's on crutches after his spill and working at his old job as a bartender with Judy. Caroline's divorce is final. Charlie's a free man and proposes to Gina with flowers all around and in hand. Except that Gina didn't walk through the door Mrs. Sloan did. This prompts worry for the Sloans who feel that Charlie's interest in Gina is motivated by the money their grand-daughter stand to inherit. Their mission then is to dissuade any union between the two. To this end Ruth discusses Charlie with Gina highlighting all his bad trends; leaving Ginger at the alter, and divorcing Caroline. Meanwhile Mike, Sr. converses with Charlie weaving in his desire not to leave a cent to either Gina or Emma. Because or in spite of their efforts, Charlie and Gina get engaged anyway.
Being a mother takes a toll on Anne. Baby Michael won't stay asleep much. Nothing works except the Lemo jingle. Al gets the record which works until it get's scratched.
Arthur is fired because of a drop in Lemo sales since he joined Ginger on the radio broadcast. Auditioning of the rest of the Indian team compels Mr. Melon to recruit Jeff. Ginger refuses to work with him. Jeff still doesn't want the job. Ginger's skit's about to be dropped. Can't make the payments Jeff puts his red convertible on the market. Caroline gets Jeff to pick her from from the train in from Reno. Learning that Jeff won't be able to play ball, or keep his car anymore Caroline tries to distract him (to make a break for it) by causes the car to roll back running into Ginger and Arthur's car just as Arthur was proposing to Ginger. The car is so damaged that Jeff can't sell it. He decides to take the job with Ginger on broadcast radio.
