Barack Obama is saying “yes, you can” to Drake’s ambition of playing the former president in a biopic.
In a new interview with Complex’s Speedy Morman, Obama gave the rapper his official “stamp of approval” should the opportunity arise.
“I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants,” Obama told Morman. “I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So if the time comes and he’s ready…”
Obama added that not only does he give Drake his blessing to portray him – but his daughters would, too.
“Drake has, more importantly, I think, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it,” Obama said.
Drake — who started his career acting in “Degrassi: The Next Generation” and “Charlie Bartlett” — first expressed interest in playing Obama in 2010 during an interview with Paper.

Anton Yelchin's life was tragically cut short last June, his death coming before he had received the widespread credit for his acting chops that he so rightly deserved. He was best known to theatergoers for his essential role as Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, but at 27 he had already amassed quite the resume with a wide range of roles, from the dark misfit-teen comedy Charlie Bartlett to the star-crossed romance Like Crazy and the gritty white-knuckle thriller Green Room. The Russian-born and Los Angeles-bred actor made his onscreen debut at 11 in an episode of ER and never looked back, spending the rest of his life doing what he knew as a child he was...

It’s definitely not his best movie, and maybe it’s not really technically his best acting, but my favorite of Yelchin’s performances is in “Terminator Salvation.” You could tell he tried to sound like Michael Biehn in “The Terminator” in his portrayal of young Kyle Reese, and that meant a lot to me as a fan of these movies. Tragic. Just tragic. That’s the one word going through my mind again and again since word came out yesterday afternoon that actor Anton Yelchin had died in a car accident. He was only 27, taken from us far too soon, and it’s one of those untimely deaths that I’m just having a hard time processing. I interviewed Yelchin a year or so ago while he was out promoting the wonderful film 5 to 7 and he was just a pleasure to speak with, full of life and appreciative of the praise I heaped on him for his performance. I can’t believe he’s gone, but just quickly today I thought I’d write a big about his work and pay tribute to the man. He may have passed, but his performances and movies will be around forever. Yelchin came up as a child actor, first capturing our attention with...

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that I have to report that Anton Yelchin has passed way at the age of twenty seven. A young actor of incredible talent who got better each time he appeared on screen, he was pronounced dead earlier today after a freak car accident found him pinned to a security gate outside his home. After getting his break on ER in 2000, Yeltchin rose to prominence with roles in Hearts in Atlantis and Along Came a Spider before getting his big break playing Zack Mazursky in 2006’s Alpha Dog. This lead to him taking the lead role in the criminally underrated Charlie Bartlett, which saw him go toe to toe with a Robert Downey Jr. at the start of his comeback, which itself lead to Yelchin breaking into the mainstream with 2009, bringing his charisma and charm to the roles of Chekov in Jj Abrams’s...

In absolutely devastating and shocking news, multiple sources report that Anton Yelchin has passed away at the age of 27.
TMZ reports that Yelchin was found pinned between his car and a brick mailbox structure on the fence outside of his home in San Fernando Valley in the early hours of Sunday morning. Foul play is not suspected, as it appears to have been a tragic accident in which Yelchin’s car, which was in neutral, rolled down the steep driveway and struck the actor, who was standing behind the vehicle. I've been a fan of Anton Yelchin ever since I first saw him star alongside Anthony Hopkins in the 2001 big screen adaptation of Hearts in Atlantis. When I saw him in that film I remember saying to myself that this kid was going to be a big star. I loved him in that film, and since then I followed his career pretty closely. Horrible news: Star Trek's Anton Yelchin has died in a car accident, at the age of just 27.
Just awful, awful news. Anton Yelchin has died, at the age of just 27.
Probably best known for playing Chekov in the latest Star Trek movies (he's reprised the role in this summer's Star Trek Beyond), Yelchin's acting career stretched back the best part of 20 years. He managed to pack in terrific work in the likes of Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett, Like Crazy and Green Room, and had just been cast in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's Mr Mercedes.
He died in a car accident.
We feel dumbstruck, and it can only be a million times worse for his friends and family. Our thoughts are very much with them.
Paramount Pictures has released the following statement:
All of us at Paramount join the world in morning the untimely passing of Antony Yelchin.

Update: The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee actor Anton Yelchin was driving at the time of his fatal accident was under recall, The Associated Press reports. The SUV's gear shifters reportedly confused drivers and caused vehicles to roll unexpectedly.
On Monday, Jeep auto-maker Fiat Chrysler said in a statement that the company is investigating and that it's premature to speculate on the crash cause. The 2015 Grand Cherokees were included in Fiat Chrysler's global recall of 1.1 million vehicles announced in April. A Los Angeles coroner's official has stated that Yelchin's death has been ruled an accident.

George Miller is riding a wave of adulation right now thanks to the critical and commercial success of Mad Max: Fury Road, but eight years ago the filmmaker came this close to making a superhero movie that would've resulted in an entirely different DC Cinematic Universe.
Back in summer 2007 a script titled Justice League Mortal, by Michele and Kieran Mulroney, impressed Warner Bros bosses and the studio quickly enlisted Miller to make it a reality for a summer 2009 release. However, the movie - which was due to shoot in Australia - was plagued by behind-the-scenes issues that eventually led to the plug being pulled.

The press tour for "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" is pretty much at an end, and Robert Downey Jr. is feeling a little punchy. He walked out of an interview with Channel 4's Krishnan Guru-Murthy, later calling the journalist a "bottom-feeding muckraker." And now the actor is going all Tony Stark on indie moviemaking, while also throwing some shots back at Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. Chatting with EW, Downey Jr., who spent his comeback back years making a string of smaller movies both at the indie and studio level ("The Singing Detective," "A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints," "A Scanner Darkly," "Charlie Bartlett," "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "Goodnight And Good Luck"), expressed he has zero desire to go off and make a tiny film, working on a shoestring budget. And he had some very harsh words about that world and being a part of a movie on that level. “...they’re exhausting and sometimes they.

After last week’s news about Netflix securing The Blacklist for a record fee, a similar story came to light this week concerning the pre Batman prequel series Gotham. Now rather than getting it day and date after Us broadcast as per Breaking Bad and From Dusk Till Dawn, Gotham’s entire run will just arrive on Netflix after it’s finished its TV broadcast. Worse news is that this means you have to wait for Channel 5 to get their finger out and schedule it on one of their three channels and then muck it around the schedule just to confuse you further and for it to finish its run there. Kind of takes the wind out the sails doesn’t it? I wouldn’t expect to see Gotham on Netflix until this time next year at best but we will see.

A riveting BBC political thriller offering one of the most trenchant explorations yet of the sick symbiosis between big government and big business. I’m “biast” (pro): love Jason Isaacs and Ben Daniels
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
I wasn’t planning on writing anything about this. I only came across it on Netflix (it’s available in the U.S. and the U.K., but not Canada) because I’m crushing on Ben Daniels (just inducted into the Boyfriend Hall of Fame) and there were no Law & Order: UK reruns on at that moment and I needed a fix. And this had Jason Isaacs in it, too! Double yum.
But oh my god, now that I’ve finished all seven episodes — it’s a limited miniseries, so that’s all there will ever be — I feel like I...

Billy Crudup and Anton Yelchin in William H. Macy’s directorial debut “Rudderless”
Rudderless
Directed by William H. Macy
Written by Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter
USA, 2014
William H. Macy’s Rudderless takes on the process of grieving in the aftermath of a school shooting. The reasoning behind the tragedy is not explicated nor is it warranted. Instead, the film deals with the unraveling of one parent who cannot completely come to grips with the loss of his son. It’s towering subject matter that hasn’t been tackled since Lynne Ramsay’s We Need to Talk About Kevin artfully delved into the inner life of an adult victim left behind after her child slaughtered schoolmates. It’s not as heavy-hitting as Ramsay’s effort or in the least concerned with the grisly details of the devastating sequence of events, but still presses the same point that whenever traumatic crises happen,...
