Jennifer Garner is one of the most prolific actresses working today. The actress has been a part of films such as 13 Going on 30, Juno, Pearl Harbor, Daredevil, and Elektra. While Garner has been taking it slow on the acting front, she recently seemed to have an emotional day as her eldest daughter, Violet Affleck, reportedly graduated high school.
The Family Switch star posted a thread of photos of her getting emotional while on the way to her daughter’s graduation. She even had a video of her crying on the plane and multiple images of her being proud of her daughter. Many celebrities supported the actress, including Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Reynolds, and Michelle Pfeifer.

Network executives once came to the upfronts on a mission to get advertisers excited about a handful of new series coming in the fall. This year, TV’s big players took a T-shirt cannon approach.
Every one of the major presentations during the May 13-15 sprint in midtown Manhattan — NBCUniversal, Fox, Disney, Amazon, Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix — emphasized the breadth of the company’s content offerings. Call it the everything-everywhere-all-at-once strategy for the streaming age.
As always, common themes emerged across the week. “Connections” was the buzziest of buzzwords used by executives pitching their hearts out from the stage. Without question, the song of Upfronts ’24, the one heard at most if not all events, was Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em.”
After sorting through the firehose of shows and spin, here are a few trends that stood out this year.
1) Star-Power Surge
Last year, the writers strike kept boldface names from appearing at the upfronts.

Women constantly face the stigma of having their looks and personalities used to determine their capabilities. A girl’s life choices should be up to her, not the biases and demands of those around her. In a time where phrases like, “girl boss” and, “good for her” movies have become entwined in our cultural lexicon, ‘Legally Blonde’, a film released back in 2001, remains a beloved classic of female empowerment. ‘Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is surrounded by people who don’t take her at all seriously and instead perceive her as a beautiful, dumb, blonde. Conversely, Vivian Kensington (Selma Blair), Elle’s brunette and less blatantly feminine classmate is viewed as smart, respectable, and less attractive. Through these characters, the film emphasizes the absurdity of allowing a woman’s appearance to dictate our perception of her intelligence and value. When Emma Stone, star of Disney’s Cruella and Searchlight’s Poor Things, introduced CEO Bob Iger at the company’s Upfronts presentation this week – the first time that the former TV chief had been on stage at the advertising rodeo in 30 years – it was clear that this is no longer just a TV event.
“To say a lot has changed since 1994 would be an incredible understatement and I’m not just talking about the color of my hair, or my fashion choices,” Iger said.
Stars such as Ryan Reynolds, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, Will Ferrell and Jake Gyllenhaal were all highly visible presences across the week to promote their recent and upcoming feature films.
It marked a sea change for the Madison Avenue set, who were previously treated to a cavalcade of television stars promoting the small-screen, usually fresh from the broadcast pilot process. Unlike April’s CinemaCon,...

Reese Witherspoon will produce Legally Blonde prequel series Elle for Prime Video. Here are the details.
According to Deadline, a prequel television series to Legally Blonde has been ordered at Amazon Prime Video.
Reese Witherspoon, who starred in the two feature films, will produce the series through her Hello Sunshine production company, alongside Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky and producer of the original films Marc Platt.
Elle will serve as a prequel to the original 2001 film, which saw Witherspoon play Elle Woods, a sorority queen who follows her ex boyfriend to law school to win him back, only to find herself flourishing as an aspiring lawyer.
Legally Blonde 2: Red, White And Blonde followed in 2004. A straight to DVD sequel, Legally Blondes, which Witherspoon produced, starring twins Milly and Becky Rosso, was released in 2009. If there were any lingering doubts that the Walt Disney Co. is now comfortable leaning into the edgier aspects of its increasingly aligned portfolio, they evaporated about 10 minutes into Tuesday’s upfront presentation when Ryan Reynolds promised that eventual Disney+ library member Deadpool & Wolverine would be a boon to advertisers targeting “testicular trauma” and “cocaine content.”
There was noticeably less cursing than during the week’s previous upfront events, at least until Jimmy Kimmel took the stage, but the embrace of Hard-r content was apparent from the pitch’s opening moments. Emma Stone, the Oscar-winning star of the Disney-produced Poor Things, was on hand to introduce Bob Iger — and, a month after he won his proxy fight with Nelson Peltz, voice her support for the recently embattled CEO.

Reese Witherspoon has bent and snapped her way into a full-fledged “Legally Blonde” empire.
After playing L.A. sorority girl turned Harvard Law School student — and arguably, feminist icon — Elle Woods in 2001, Witherspoon has led sequel “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde” and is slated to star in a third film written by Mindy Kaling and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” co-creator Dan Goor. Kaling previously teased that the third film will center on Elle Woods reevaluating both her career and her perspective on life at age 42, telling Time magazine that she would never want the character to “be canceled or become a Karen.”
While the status of that trilogy installment is still unknown, given that the feature was announced in 2022, Witherspoon has turned instead to building out the “Legally Blonde” brand through TV.
IndieWire can confirm that a “Legally Blonde” prequel series titled “Elle” is in the works at Prime Video, with Witherspoon producing.

At the Amazon upfront, Reese Witherspoon appearing in character as Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods wasn’t even the actress’ best effort of the morning. That came about 45 minutes before her presentation wrapper, when she scolded her You’re Cordially Invited co-star Will Ferrell for bragging about his romantic comedy prowess.
“I’m the fucking queen of looking cute while sleeping,” said Witherspoon, referring to that moment in every rom-com when one actor lovingly looks at the other while their eyes are closed. This delighted the crowd at the tech giant’s first-ever upfront presentation, as did much of star-packed show — once they got in, of course. Slow lines stretched down South Street, prompting a half-hour delay for the Pier 36 event.
“Thank you for whatever you went through to get in this room,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, when she finally took the stage. “I know it was a lot.

You may have first encountered Jennifer Coolidge as Stifler’s Mom in American Pie or as ditzy beautician Paulette in Legally Blonde. Or maybe your introduction came during her rise as a character actor in the early 2000s — but you’d have to live in a bougie resort far, far away to not have been delighted by the Emmy winner over the years.
Although she’s well known for her comedic roles across film and TV, Coolidge has also starred in spooky TV shows and lent her voice to family-friendly animated flicks. Her most recent is We Have a Ghost, a comedic horror film, which is streaming now. While you queue up those unearthly laughs, take a look at every Coolidge role available on Netflix.

In my heart, the Principal of Nevermore will always be Principal Weems, but uh… since she was Rip’ed by the show’s main villain, sources say the show has found her replacement in Steve Buscemi. The goth drama is really growing.

There were many memorable cinematic performances that came from actresses in 1999 (Annette Bening in American Beauty, Samantha Morton in Sweet and Lowdown, Julianne Moore in Magnolia). And then there was a truly iconic turn from Reese Witherspoon as Tracy Flick, the terrifying antagonist in Alexander Payne’s sharp political satire, Election.
A cunning, ambitious and oh-so-annoying foil to her teacher and would-be mentor, Omaha-area social studies instructor Jim McAllister (Matthew Broderick), Tracy is at times the worst — for example, when her affair with Mr. McAllister’s best friend is discovered, the teenager has no qualms about abandoning him entirely — and in other moments, Tracy can be the absolute best. At least, she insists on that top slot, no matter what: having the highest grades, getting into the best college, winning a high school election — she’s destined for greatness, which in the time Election takes place means winning the office...

The famous movie starring Reese Witherspoon may be more than 20 years old, but Matthew McConaughey still accidentally gets all the fame for allegedly being in it, but he in fact never was.
Sweet Home Alabama, a 2002 romcom, also lists Josh Lucas among its main actors, though he doesn’t get too much credit just because of many fans’ common mistake.
The truth about the whole situation was recently revealed by Reese Witherspoon during her talk with People. The actress got to reminisce about her most astounding roles like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Annett in Cruel Intentions or her Oscar-winning performance as Johnny Cash’s wife June in 2005’s Walk the Line.
When Sweet Home Alabama was brought up, Witherspoon couldn’t help mentioning the funny incident that keeps haunting her co-star from other films, Matthew McConaughey.

The Hollywood landscape has seen immense transformation over the years, especially with the rise of the streaming giants. The small screens are playing more important roles than the big screens and something about it is very concerning. When searching for powerful and relatable representations of women in film, most people probably don’t turn to the romantic comedy genre first. The leading ladies of romantic comedies typically have a perfect job as a magazine reporter in a stylish big city apartment, where they wake up every morning fresh-faced with a gorgeous hairstyle. A tall and handsome love interest will sneak his way into her life somehow when she least expects it, and they’ll live happily ever after. Unfortunately, life just doesn’t work that way for most women. But that doesn’t mean romantic comedies are unworthy of love from the female film community. They may not be the most prestigious pieces, but hold deep value for women who want to feel uplifted and hopeful when they’re consuming media. It’s been over two decades since Reese Witherspoon wowed us with her blonde beauty and brains in the first installment of the “Legally Blonde” franchise.
Due to the widely positive reception of the first movie, the sequel “Legally Blonde: Red, White and Blonde” followed in 2003.
This was later followed by the 2009 direct-to-video spinoff “Legally Blondes,” which served as sort of a pilot for a potential series, but this did not take.
“Legally Blonde 3” has been in the works for several years with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor working on the script, but nothing has come of it until now.

Hollywood can be a huge guessing game at times, and there are some very tough calls to be made.
Actors have to field a list of potential roles and decide which one seems the most promising. While juggling them around, they might end up missing out on a chance to star in a project that becomes a serious blockbuster.
We previously rounded up 12 actors who nearly passed on what would become their most iconic roles. However, there are even more actors who did say “no thanks” to appearing in solid-gold hits.
For instance, one A-lister opted out of starring in Avatar. In the process, they missed out on a $250 million payday! A pop icon had some regrets about passing on a chance to play Catwoman. One actress was even offered a chance to play Neo, a male role, in The Matrix!

Actors’ Equity President Kate Shindle has announced that she will not seek re-election when her nine-year tenure ends May 23.
Shindle, who revealed the news in an interview with The New York Times, said she will remain active in the labor movement but intends to focus on resuming her acting career. She told The Times that her position as Equity president – an unpaid volunteer position – left her with so little time for her acting career that she hasn’t been able to clock enough professional hours to quality for Equity health insurance.
In a statement posted on her Instagram account, Shindle said, “It’s been one of my greatest honors to serve as the top officer of our union since 2015, and it sure has been a hell of a ride. Since March 2020, the vast majority of my creative energy has gone into solving our collective problems – sometimes successfully, sometimes making frustratingly incremental gains.

Long before Greta Gerwig's pink pop cultural juggernaut Barbie came along, the fuchsia feminist revolution began with 2001's Legally Blonde. As blonde and brilliant SoCal socialite-turned-Harvard law student Elle Woods, Reese Witherspoon helped create a bona-fide cult classic and one of the 21st century's first great big screen heroines. Now, a couple of decades after 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Witherspoon is gearing up to return to Elle Woods' world with her Hello Sunshine production company for several new Amazon spin-off series.
As reported by Deadline, Witherspoon — whose first Hello Sunshine/Amazon collaboration, Daisy Jones & The Six, debuted on Prime Video last year — is set to team up with Gossip Girl developers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for the first project, which is furthest along in development. Schwartz and Savage are set to write the series, whose plot currently remains tightly under wraps, with Witherspoon taking on a producing role.

Bring your pink suit to the dry cleaners because Legally Blonde is making a comeback, and you’ll want to dress to impress! Dylan Mulvaney is dreaming big, and one of the characters she would like to play is Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
In a recent interview, the singer and actress said that her dream theater role was to play Glinda in Wicked, but her “dream dream” was to portray the Harvard Law School student that Reese Witherspoon famously played in the 2001 film.
“My dream though is to do a trans Legally Blonde,” Mulvaney said in an interview with IMDb during SXSW. “I wanna play Elle Woods and have maybe a trans Emmett and a trans Paulette. And I think what’s so cool about plugging trans people into existing stories is it inherently changes what the topic is, but in a way that you don’t actually have to do much to the script because it becomes something different — but actually, I think it makes it even more powerful.”
